Thanks so much for the nice words buddy. I put a lot of work into some of these intros and I am so glad that you like them. The Ghostbusters versus video is going to take a while. As I was writing the script I realised that there is SO MUCH to talk about. So this will definitely be one of my more longer versus videos. And I want to make sure that I can make it as great as possible. So it will take a while, but in the meantime I will have plenty more on the way.

For parents, maybe. Kids don't give a flying fuck about death, at least as long as it's relatively clean, without much gore involved. I can guarantee you that nobody below the age of, say, 14 who saw the original Incredibles when it came out was in any way disturbed by it. Hell, to me, brought up on Tom 'n Jerry, suicide was something I associated with comedy. Most of the time, people complaining about this stuff are just attention-whoring on Twitter. Like a blonde white gender studies graduate moaning about the cultural appropiation of an afro.

@KJ Beast I think Violet was better with showcasing her powers in the second movie compared to the first movie. However... 100 mile dash would forever be one of my favorite moments in cinema history. I was actually waiting for something similar that entire movie, and that's my fault for getting my hopes up. Violet and Mrs Incredible was amazing in the second movie though, same with Jack Jack. Just high-key wish Mr Incredible and Dash had more secenes.

I believe there's probably a good reason for Violet, she's a teenager, there's no moment in life more confusing and dramatic than your teens, hormones are all over the place, school wants to define you, your parents want to "guide" you... It sucks... And on top you are seen and expected to work/act as a superhero??? Man! I think her character was really well done. Maybe more explanation would have been good but it was really great

Another thing I liked a lot about the first movie is Bob figuring out that the only thing that damages the robot is the robot itself. It showed why he was such a great superhero, he was not only muscles, but also clever enough to adapt to the situation and make the best out of it.

My biggest problem with this movie is that it didn't really feel worthy as a sequel; not in terms of quality, but as a continuation of the story. It seems like a lot of things addressed in the first film were just outright ignored or forgotten about in order to make the sequel's story work. For example, a major theme in the first film was the family learning to trust each other and coming together to fight as a family, like they did against the Omnidroid. At the very end when the Underminer shows himself, the family even suit up together, like they're all ready to head into battle, even Jak Jak. Then at the very beginning of the sequel, the first thing the parents say was for Violet and Dash to stay back and watch Jak Jak while they take care of business. The second film is rife with this, just ignoring things about the first film so that it can tackle those same themes over again, like the legality of Supers, Jak Jak's powers, Mr. Incredible's ego, or even Violet's relationship with Tony. They destroyed the character arcs from the first film so they could just rebuild them again in the sequel. After waiting 14 years for this, it just didn't feel worth it. A lot of people were speculating a 14 year time skip within the stories, and I think it would have served as a much better story for the sequel to tackle.

Violet even got some cool scenes, where she could send shockwaves to intercept the falling debris at the start, and her fight with Void. Dash never got to stretch his legs, and I don't even remember Mr. Incredible having to lift anything heavy.

However, both had great animation (especially the second) and villains that offered great criticism on society (even if Screenslaver was predictable). Great movies, and could they be connected because Syndrome murdered all the superheroes, so they didn’t respond to the Deavors’ call?

Other than that, the 2nd movie did a great job in the firs movie we saw syndrome's super hero genocide, the deaths of henchmen,bad guys who have no problem with killing kids, some guy who committed suicide and elastigirl's pulls mr incredible home for a obvious thing. i know i think too much for a child cartoon but still this is also a super hero movie and in the first movie brad bird had proved that he care about his adult audience.

Sure the first one had great fight scenes but honestly I loved the one fight scene in which Elastigirl fights what we think is Screenslaver inside of his layer. The fight is dark, chaotic and quite clever when it comes to ways a non superpowered villain fights somebody who is clearly stronger than him.

I feel like the first was more realistic. The second's character design made them feel more like cartoons. The first also had a more unique filming style, as they take these wider shots that continue to pan out as the scene progresses. The second felt more bland, as we get basic quick shots that make it a different experience, but not a bad one.

Baris Bal The first film was surprisingly adult oriented, yeah, and it felt like an actual family movie, rather than just a kids movie. I think just quietly that it would've been impossible for the second film to follow such a success, just because the first film left very little unsolved. In a way, the plot felt almost like it was fan-generated, and the political environment of today means that the film couldn't tackle adult themes to the same degree of the first one. It was good, but the second one was definitely more of a kids film than a family film.

I want the next one to be a prequel instead of a sequel mildly expanding on Gazerbeam's character, how Bob Parr grew up befriending Frozone and majorly expanding Bomb Voyage's development and how Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl fell in love. The Incredibles movies in chronological order: Mr. Incredible The Incredibles Incredibles 2 Incredibles 3 That would be a whole quadrilogy just like the Toy Story movies.

I think it is pretty clear that you don't have kids. The children are far more developed in the 2nd movie and pretty much every parent, once their kids are teens, realize that all teenagers come across as mentally unstable. Violet was completely believable considering what happened to her.

Imo, what I love about the 2nd Incredibles is that Helen is a great example of how a mother can be a superhero without losing her nurturing side. Helen, imo, is one of the best examples of a strong female protagonist.

While they're both good movies, I think the original is superior if for no other reason than it works as a self-contained story. Some sequels have enough of their own identity that they hold up perfectly well on their own, and don't require seeing the original - 'Incredibles 2', however, would be absolute gobbledegook without its predecessor. That sort of thing is fairly common these days, I know, but still - 'Incredibles 2' is recognizably a franchise entry. 'The Incredibles' is its own unique creature.

The first is infinite times better Heck The Incredibles 2 is just average in general

I guess Brad Bird sees it as generic (maybe, idk hahaha) since both movies feature a human villain. But I guess, that's what makes these movies stand out from the other superhero movies: they're fighting against empowered, complex, smart villainous humans rather than a classic superpowered-villain.

SPOILERS AHEAD: The Incredibles=Mirage The Incredibles 2= Winston Deavor The Incredibles= Syndrome The Incredibles 2= Evelyn Deavor/ Screenslaver The Incredibles= Main Job To Bob The Incredibles 2= Main Job To Helen Dark Story of The Incredibles= Syndrome was number one fan but when Bob rejects him from being his sidekick, 15 years later he defeated all super heroes with his omdroid to defeat Mr. Incredibles at last Sorta Dark story of The Incredibles 2= The screenslaver is basically our electronics manupilating us everywhere even when we are walking outside etc. Similarities: When Bob fighted the first omdroid when he first arrives to the jungle, his vintage suit rips out by his arm When Helen was taking the goggles out of Bob and Lucius, her new suit also gets ripped by her arm

And yes, the fact that I’m not like super stoked and excited counting down the days for Incredibles 3 is sad :(

9:42 I think that first argument is a little invalid simply because the second movie is in fact a sequel. The reason they wouldn’t be more memorable is because they didn’t have to develop their characters. The makers did such a good job on the first that they felt that they didn’t need to develop more. You even said that the portrayal was so good that they were very memorable

Not always. If you can create something amazing, you are able to give more depth and even more meaningful events to the characters. Shrek 2 is a great example, which not only is considered to be better than the first one (that's relative), but the sequel gave much more depth to the characters making more impactful moments.

I always felt the first incredibles was so great because it wasn't bringing emotion through a great story, it was telling a great story through an emotion. The whole theme of the incredibles was the feeling of being worthless and having no value, and the attempt to overcome it. Think about it, at the beginning buddy felt worthless and worth nothing because his inspiration said he didn't want his help, Mr. Incredible lost his career because it was illegalized and he doesn't feel fit anywhere else, Dash can't compete in sport and his parents make him feel like he shouldn't even try anymore, Violet struggles with social anxiety and tries to build up her confidence but fails every time, Helen feels like she's failing as a wife because she starts to believe her husband is having an affair and gets major fear, and last but not least the final fight with the Omni droid, the droid is a representation of our inability to triumph over our failures, it seems like no matter what we do we can't defeat it, until the only thing left to do is to take the fear head on. This is the genius writing of the movie and I could go on and on about how it's the greatest movie of all time.

The Incredibles 2 will never be on parr with the first film

It would had been interesting to see the Incredibles show and use their powers more to see how they could change in the future. we barely got anything from Dash, and Violet showing an advancement in their powers. I still feel the 1st is better

sequels aren't always as good as the original movies but incredibles 2 proved it wrong this one was almost as good as the original with little thing to criticize so if they r gonna make us wait for another 14 years to release incredibles 3 with quality contents as its first 2 movies then i am ready to wait.

I still can't get over how good the animation grew from 1 to 2

The first Incredibles is far superior in pretty much every way except the look of the animation. There was just so much more subtlety in the direction and execution of the first film from dialogue to how the fight scenes were approached. It was so much more smartly crafted and written. The second film feels way less smartly written and more like a typical kids flick. Still a decent enough sequel to keep you interested but definitely not even close to the original. I was disappointed that Screenslaver was a front utilized by such a weak villain, I thought the front idea was interesting but could’ve been incorporated differently by a stronger central villain. I give the first Incredibles an 8.8 and the second a 7 out of 10.

When watching reviews, u can start to rethink things: For me, I feel the first Incredibles is better because Mr. Incredible had a character arc while Elastic Girl, while being an excellent example of a strong female character, had a character arc but it gets thrown out the window at the inciting incident in the second movie. My rating for The Incredibles 1st one: 10/10 2ND one:9/10

I think vViolet was just acting agitated because she was a teenager. I thought that Incredibles 2 was clearly trying to show that Violet was just like any teenage girl, with crushes, a rebellious attitude, and not the best temper. Personally, I think that her attitude is “just a phase”, and it was put into the movie to also show Violet’s realistic side and add humor.

Violet and Dash are exactly like my brother and I, will piss each other off and fight at all costs, yet as soon as one of us is in trouble, the other is always gonna rush in to help out

This is really cool because on a hike just yesterday my mom and I were talking about the first Incredibles vs. the second, and how the first had so many memorable scenes and a great villain, where overall we couldn't remember anything from the second one. We know we enjoyed it, we just didn't remember specifically what, you know? Just goes to show the power of--and what goes into--a truly memorable movie. This video is great!! :D

i didn't know that it was even a suicide when i was a kid I thought someone told him to jump and that they were going to chatch him and when he said "you ruined my death that's what you did." i thought he said "you ruined my neck."

Some people believe that Elastigirl "stole the show" in The Incredibles 2, but I don't really think she did. Having her do the action and Mr. Incredible take care of the children was part of Mr. Incredible's character development. Bob had to realise that not everything is about him

I had the same question, and I was thinking they somehow survived the explosion bc Edna designed them with the same indestructible material as the red suits. But then again, Syndrome's robot tore through Mr. Incredible's suit, so idk

My other question is where did the stroller from the beginning of the second movie come from. Incredibles 2 picks up right where the first one left off, and at the end of the first movie Jack Jack is on Elastigirl's back, but at the start of the second (at the exact same line of the end of the first movie) Jack Jack is in a stroller. This is prolly a really stupid detail nobody cares about lol but still

Turquoise Penguin bro lemme blow ur mind real quick fam, in the first film, where did the incredibles stay between the track meet and their house exploding. The reason why I ask this, is because after the incredibles in the second film are escorted to a motel, Dicker says that their part of the government is going out due to recent events right? To me that sounded like the first time that they're having this conversation, like as if between NOW and the HOUSE EXPLOSION, this is the first time they're talking about houses or whatever. But to be fair, the track meet was hinted at being a time skip, so i'm not sure, might need to rewatch stuff.

This video is incredible! (No pun intended) You should do more vs. videos about Pixar movies.

I enjoyed both, however I liked the first one much more. You cover everything I had to say, but i wanted to add another reason. I think for this is that the setting of a hero mixed with average daily life was much better in the first one. In the first one it had a great story about an underground hero going through a midlife crisis. We got a much better believable view of how bob felt about life and missing the glory days and what he tries to do to acquire it. We also saw a lot more about how his family and those around him are affected by it. In the second one, it felt more like I was watching two different movies. One a slice of life comedy about a stay at home dad, the other a predictable mystery action. This dissonance in the second one is a part of why I dont like it as much.

Violet wasn't unstable! She's a self-conscious teen with a boyfriend who's MEMORY GOT WIPED! What teen wouldn't be pissed after that!?

In the footage you showed from the first film, the scene at 3:56 where we see Mr. Incredible going through Syndrome's computer, and he sees all the heroes that were killed before him by the previous versions of the Omnidriods, what release of the movie was that scene from? Because in your footage the heroes and the Omnidroid prototypes are shown to be killed by a diagonal red slash through their portraits, yet in the theatrical release, and in my DVD copy I have from back in 2004, I distinctly remember there being shown a large red banner that red TERMINATED in white font across their portraits. Was this scene censored?

I remember the Terminated writing was missing too. This is a digital download version of the movie that I got for this review. I don't know why they censored it.

One thing the first film has over the second film (for me) was the fact that I grew up with it, and so doing so, discovered just how intricate the film was. It was a wonderful, even magical, experience discovering a new layer to the story as I went through a new phase in life. For instance, when I watched the film after happening to oversee a big fight between my folks, suddenly, the fight between Hellen and Bob felt very real. As great as the second film is, and as much as it did make me feel like a kid again (in more ways than one, I caught a bad case of vertigo and tossed my cookies the first time I watched the first film, and got a minor case with the rollercoasteresque camera movements in the second), I have grown as a person, and even try to write multilayered stories myself now, so now every layer that could be uncovered is more-or-less obvious to me now. What I'm trying to say is, the first film grew up with me, the second film did not, though that's a good thing, if The Dark Crystal has taught me anything, it's that exoteric films do _horribly_ at the Box Office. That said, I love the second film and I even was decently surprised by the twist (to me it was more about which of the Deavors was Screenslaver), and through it is not without it's flaws that knock it _just_ below the first film, it's still good enough for me to enjoy it just fine, but I hope they address the shortcomings in a third film, whenever that is.

The score in the movies are great. I made mention to the music ramping up in tension during the story segment. But yeah, the music in both films (especially the first) is very good.

Hey Eric I like this video and score you gave for the incredibles 2 but the problem is that like other pixar sequel flims (not toy story 2 and 3 ) it became a step down (like cars 2 ,monster university and finding dory) I think the incredibles 2 is 2nd or 3rd best pixar sequel and a question do you think the incredibles 2 got a better sequel than finding dory or cars 3? Note: Do you Syndrome reminds you of the joker a little bit.

George Mounce syndrome said that he would sell his tech when he’s old. He could’ve developed bio technology that enables a gene to produce superpowers at some point.

Incredibles 2 is like Toy Story 2, not better than the first one but a perfect sequel and a great movie in general. In my opinion some characters, the action,cinematography and animation are better in the second one but other characters (and the villian), the story and climax are way better in the first one. The scene of the screenslaver´s monologue and battle with elastigirl is amazing and I think that is better than any scene of Sindrome in the Incredibles 1

I understand you have a lot to say but i had to go back several times to get all of what you were saying because it almost sound like you were doing a speed test of some sort to see how fast you could explain a movie. Slow down you do an excellent job and i and others would like to enjoy your commentary! If it wasn't explain so fast i would give you one of the highest marks on your commentary that i have seen!

Part 1 was waaaaay darker and more mature. Part 2 just had 1 curse word thrown in it was just something like "damn."

Wow this video was amazing. 👍 I also agree with your list. Although something I've never understood is why Violet wants to be "normal" in the first movie. Anyway, I pre-ordered the second one, I loved it!

Wow, I surprisingly agree with all your points. The biggest disappointment I have for the sequel was its lack of equal focus on the children's development as superheroes sans Jack Jack. I loved Violet the most and to see her get reduced to an upset teenager just blows as an arc. Then there's Dash who just lost his fire. Original one's better for me. The second one did not allow much time to breath.

Love the attention to detail in the starting credits. I got so engrossed in the review that I forgot I haven't seen Incredibles 2 yet! Didn't spoil too much though. How did I miss the 'spoiler' warning at the beginning??

Sorry I didn't comment earlier but great video can't wait for more. I'm here with you to the end. Just so you know this is B. Wise.

For me, *The Incredibles* was a perfect 10 out of 10. My personal favorite Pixar film. And *Incredibles 2* was almost as good as the original, save for the plot being a bit more predictable. So I'd give it an excellent 9 out of 10- still fantastic, just not quite perfect.

Brad Bird has stated that he isn't currently planning a third, but they could have a series of spin-offs to focus on each of the other supers shown in the second movie.

The characters were much better in the 2nd one tbh, Jack Jack, And violet are so much more likeable

I disagree with Evelyn having generic motives. The reason why she wanted Supers to become illegal forever is not because of them not being able to save her parents in time, but because of OUR OVERRELIANCE on Supers. She herself said "Superheroes keeps s weak". Her main belief is that we rely on the Supers too much; because of this, we aren't able to discover our truest potentials and solve problems using our own capabilities. Instead, we rely on the Supers to solve our own problems. This is why she wants Supers to become illegal. Another thing that gets misinterpreted by most people is her plan. I personally believe that it was a smart and brilliant plan. To reiterate (especially to those who have misunderstood her plan), her plan is to break the people's trust in Supers, by building the Supers' image using the media. By building up their image, the people's trust in them is slowly strengthened. Once that trust is finally rebuilt, that's the time when she'll break the people's trust in the Supers (by using her Hypno-goggles). Once that rebuilt trust gets shattered, then the public will NEVER give them a chance to become legal again. Her plan, at least to me, makes so much sense that I don't know why a lot of people are hating on her. Another problem people had with her was predictability. I guess the reason why it was predictable was because all the clues and hints match up. A lot of people criticize the twist in Frozen, saying that Hans being the villain came out of nowhere, and that his actions didn't align with his motives. At least in Incredibles 2, the actions match the motives. What we see is what we get. Although Evelyn is not perfect, for me, she comes close to Syndrome. Not surpass or on par, but close. I'm just kinda sad that a lot of people hate her because I really saw her as a smart, cunning, and reasonable villain.

I totally agree with you , I don't know why many people don't like Evelyn. For me she is a great villain, she is intelligent, sure of herself and she was able to create an imaginary villain and get the city to be afraid without her having to do almost anything.
