The Incredible Story Of Bently - Part 1

Bently was so scared and did not like other dogs. Part 1 of my incredible journey with this special dog. The next parts will not disappoint!
*Just a note that the owners were not present that day and are not in the video. Those are my colleagues helping out*

When she snapped at your face and you didn't drop her but remained calm, I was amazed. When she turned around the second time and you still remained calm and then started kissing her head, you proved what a fantastic rescuer you truly are. Her new life begins now and she is in the care of a phenomenal person and organization who will help her overcome her anxiety and fear.🐾💜

Ok I knew I had seen white dog on a video b4 with Llama Frankie called MAKE ROOM FOR FRANKIE 3 wks ago I was wondering at the time about the dog I have not seen it mentioned b4 so l was keeping LOOKOUT to find out all story ln the Franke video you will see Bently & Lee walking openly through Asher sanctuary property after Lee initially rescued her in part 1 here There u will see Lee call Bently ' sweetness ' & bonding 🌈 I think Bently is very good for Asher sanctuary property The rest of Lees pup pack are presently unable to walk left alone freely with the animals Bently lS🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 the previous people did not socialize Bently with themselves or others😑 LeeAsher EVERY rescue you have KEPT has NEEDED You Specifically bc situation they came from. They have needed to be greatly loved Bently has not been greatly loved respected honored until she found LEE Bently looks like she already got groomed her plume of her tail is NOW definitely the tail of a Pyrenees so beautiful full like Lillllieees & CECE I get a knot in my throat when you see what their needs are but only a few are gifted to see that whole picture in a moment Lee does & embraces it to heal it🌈 ME TOO 💞 I rescue those that others pass by outside when the Lord has them cross my path ALWAYS👍

Bentley is a livestock guardian dog. She is highly territorial. She has a perimeter that she walks and protects. Great Pyrenees are capable of killing predators as part of their job. They have a jaw strength of 500 PSI. My Great Pyr Maia was found as a stray and we lost her to cancer of the tongue. Two specialties of the Pyrenees is The dance and the Pyr Paw. Truly gentle giants. We have had three Pyrs and they all had wonderful personalities. Our last one, Bianca, came to Italy with us when we moved from the US in 2019 at the age of 7 years old. We rescued 2 Maremmano puppies and she became a loving mother to them. She helped to herd the sheep that come passed our house everyday. Unfortunately we lost her to oral cancer two months ago and will always be missed.

Yeah alot of the time 'aggression' isn't that, it's lack of socialisation, fear, anxiety and them not knowing how to outlet it, I deal with severely reactive gsds on a daily basis that have a bite histories and what not, and I have only ever come across one that was truly aggressive/dominant, he never barked, just stared, he would be fine, until you told him what to do, and then he would bite, he was a handful but predictable because of this 😅 Bentley just looks like a very confused scared dog that just needs some socialisation in the right way, and I'm sure she will soon be the protector of the pack 🥰

I don't know how humans just "re-home an animal like it's nothing. When you bring an animal into your home you are saying to them that they have a happy, healthy home for the rest of their days. I get it, things happen in life, people move but your moving plans MUST include the animal that YOU brought into YOUR home. They did not ask for this life, having an animal is a human choice not the choice of the animal. I would never give up my dogs, the day they came into my home I promised to keep them safe, healthy and loved. If things change in my life the plan will ALWAYS include my precious fur babies no matter What!!!

Great Pyrenees are very smart dogs, she knew exactly what was going on. They take their jobs very seriously and leaving their job and relocating is difficult for them because they are leaving their responsibility behind, that being the people, the animals and the land. I believe it stresses them out because every part of their being went toward this huge responsibility and now they are leaving it without any protection. She will need another job right away, more than relaxing. They are wonderful, beautiful and somewhat complex beings. They deserve kindness and love and thanks! and people that know what they are doing.

My heart ached for this beautiful dog. They are rarely allowed to sleep with humans because they are bred to guard livestock. Their aloofness is often misunderstood by humans who want a cuddly dog. She had already established her territory, with her animals, and gets yanked out of the middle of it and carted off to a place with an already established pack. I hope she finds a home on a large ranch where she can do what she wants to do. People always try to make a dog conform to their expectations, not what the dog has running in their bloodlines.

You nailed it, buddy! Your description of her is spot-on! My family uses a Great Pyrenees named “Lexi” on our land to protect our cows and the goats. Lexi is not like any other dog we’ve ever had - she’s a working dog, and as such, she is not a snuggly-type dog. She is affectionate, but in her own way - she shows her “love” for her peeps by keeping watch over them and making sure they are safe. Great Pyrs do better in cold weather; because we live in Texas, in the summer Lexi stays in the house more than she stays outside. As I said, she doesn’t like to snuggle or be held down - that might be why she struggled when you had her in your arms, plus she was scared. Great Pyrs are working dogs and they are wonderful with livestock like cows and horses and sheep. They do very well with kids too, as long as children are taught to respect them and give them their “space”. Lexi does well with other dogs, especially dogs her size but she HATES coyotes! Whenever she hears coyotes she goes crazy and growls and paces around the house, watching for them and if they come too close to the house she goes crazy to get outside.

Dogs do need to respect their human guardians, or the dog can be anything from a nuisance to a hazard. I taught my AmStaff according to Milan’s methods…not only did I never threaten my dog or make him fearful, now I can leave him off leash wherever it’s allowed and he can roam freely - I never have to worry about him approaching other people or other dogs without my permission, which I only give him after I get the others’ permission. As a result he’s freer than most other dogs who are constantly getting yelled at whenever they’re off leash.

Watching you with this great Pyrenees brings me so much joy and sadness I can’t even explain. I do have to recommend keeping her on a leash because they will wander at any chance they get, if you get her to follow the pack I will be amazed. The Pyrenees is a very unusual dog...for centuries they have been bred to be very highly intuitive and independent thinkers, to be wary and to make decisions on thier own...they dont just boof along like normal dogs...she will be wigged right out, very territorially bonded. A wondefful gurl but watch out, she will roam. Keep her safe. Be patient. They have real personal boundary issues, physical space, and need to come on their own terms, they dont like full on physical forced contact...shes also confused about why you are taking her away from her farm. Go slow with her, shes a regal lady, a queen. Dont come at her full on, let her come to everyone on her own time. She will love the other dogs as she acclimates, but shes independent, right?

Great Pyrenees are used to guard live stock where I live. They kill coyotes and will take off for days roaming the land. So be careful she doesn't run away looking to go back to her old family. I saw a comment where it said they are solitary animals. They actually need another Pyrenees or they will drive themselves to death if they have been used as a livestock guard dog. One sleeps while the other watches and vice versa , if you only have one it won't sleep and eventually it's health will suffer. The breed is different if it's been raised as only a pet since birth.

Great Pyrenees dogs, have a hard time readjusting to new environments and is a herding breed. IF let’s say the family is moving to an apartment in a city, it’s not fair to bring a dog that’s meant to be outside in the mountains into a cramped space. We don’t know the old owners story. But at least they didn’t leave her at the shelter or just in the wild. Dogs like her have a hard time getting adopted because of her size and breed. That is exactly why animals melt when they come in contact with Lee They know he's relaxed and cool as a cucumber, it makes them feel the same at a time when they are scared, nervous and have no idea what's happening, not to mention their back story could also be horrendous and add to the situation. It is also the reason his pack gets along so well, he brought together many different breeds with many issues and horror stories of abuse/neglect and made them love and respect one another, it's incredible to watch! These dogs know they are loved and you can see it on their faces! They know they have been rescued and are living their best lives thanks to Lee 💗

You rule. If there is such a thing as angels, you are definately one.
