Poles are famous for complaining about everything, including their country. But what we have in common is the fact of appreciating delicious traditional Polish food. I highly recommend going where the locals eat. Most of the places in the center are created for tourists, where it may be tasty, but it's still not like smaller places that have a soul. There is also a list of regional products that have special certificates, and this also needs to be experienced. Polish cuisine varies greatly depending on the part of the country. In my neighborhood (Kraków) we eat significantly different dishes than at the seaside.

It always amazes me in such culinary guides that people only go to purely tourist places. I'm taught that if you want to taste a given country, go where the natives eat. "Tourist" restaurants are focused on pure customer exploitation, minimum costs, maximum price and nice presentation. You don't have to try because you don't fight for a customer who is supposed to come back to you, the customer is for one time (additionally, I usually don't know how it should taste). I'm not saying it's bad food, but the maximum you'll get there is average. The only thing that surprises me more is tourists in mc donalds.
