The impact of the deadly fentanyl ‘plague’ on one American city

The supply of fentanyl reaching the US is increasingly arriving from south of the border, supplied by Mexico’s crime cartels.
(Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
But this is where it goes, and how it kills, across the United States.
The FBI has announced it arrested 288 people as part of a drive to tackle the illicit trade in fentanyl and opioids, as President Biden called tackling this deadly ‘plague’ one of the priorities of his presidency.
We head to Baltimore to look at the impact of the synthetic drug which is now the biggest killer of Americans aged 18-35 - more than gun crime, more than road accidents.

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures.

Bullshit does 1 prescription cause you to become an addict. If you have addictive tendancies and choose to take drugs or pressure a doctor into prescribing you drugs, that's what can lead you to addiction. The more addicts blame other people or things for their choices, the less likely they are to heal.

They made a crisis out of the cure They made a mess out of it. If people had a 2 day supply not to be sold, with 3 virgin laser inscribed needles, resterilized and recycled to the person, it would be cleaner than the rest of healthcare standards where sterilized instruments are recirculating. The problem is this: they just dunmped fentynal on the streets in needless so you have dirty needles going around and people trying to get wasted teenagers hooked on it at parties because as with coke, if somene can get 12 people to get hooked on it their stuff is free. So there's smash and grabs and home invasions to support their $400/day addiction. Or, there's prescriptions, no more crack house but a regional business with a license. No one is selling any because they will run out, and others can get a prescription. Heroin addictions will burn out, instead the way they dumped it or in the streets they spread it. Who wants to start a heroin addiction? You can go get a prescription if you're addicted and the party pyramid structure stops from spreading. It would cost less and ends the crimes people commit while people would be in business with a license. You can afford that plant. 🌿 Now, WW2 was a multi national depop.ulation war Check this out 45-65 percent of the world would say thanks for a take home fentynal drink with a micro serial number in it and the world wouldn't have to do WW3, 4, 5, 6. The world would double its available resources to a world only full of those that want to be here, about half, and the average poor person would have 2 houses, 2 cars, 2 cows, ice cream, cheese and oil and clean water to last the planet. Take fresh lawnmower clippings to be sprayed with water and put in a flash freezer and you might double your cattle production. All the head every week fresh cut from lawns and fields across America Save 3200 on your property taxes, how somene to more your lawn on the day before pickup, fresh coupons and you qualify, bad nasty bags of grass go to a divided back part of the truck and you lose a little credit. Save 3200 and buy a t-bone and cheese and ice cream and milk while somene has a job mowing lawns! The grass gets taken and sprayed with water and frozen and sent to cattle ranches. As it thaws it picks up more mistrust and the cattle have food and water. On the ranch there is an indoor feeding area where grass comes out of the cooler on a conveyer, or is fresh and cool and ready to eat, and moist. As it comes out of the cooler on the conveyor so a little cool air and it is cooler where the cows eat with a plastic strip door keeping the cooler air inside. After awhile the concept takes The grass back into the cooler so it won't spoil and fresh grass comes out at the other end of the cooler conveyer Do this asap

I was prescribed opiates for a chronic health condition. Rather than treat my actual illness, they just handed out pills so I had no pain. But the underlying problem wasn’t addressed for 10 years. In that time, the prescription stopped working. The pain was so bad that I wanted to fall asleep and never wake up. So inevitably I got onto the hard stuff, just to survive. I’m so glad I got free of it all (through methadone) because it’s scary how many people think they’re getting heroin when it’s fentanyl. I could be dead. Instead I’m 100% drug free (not even methadone), my health issue got treated and I just got a promotion at my job. It is possible to come out the other side but you need adequate treatment programs, harm reduction and to stop treating substance use disorder like an affliction of those with a moral failing. It’s not a moral failing, it can happen to anyone.

I've never seen a drug crisis so big. It's overwhelming, really. If you're ever in Philadelphia, just two streets down from the house were they shot Rocky, where Paulie and Adrienne lived, or where Mick's gym was, both landmarks are literal hells... or if you cross the most crossed border in the world at the San Ysidro/Tijuana border, you'll see how entering the "greatest" country in the world is not really that welcoming. People shooting, collapsing, standing motionless and bare naked and cops WILL NOT DO ANYTHING, which in turn means government is ignoring the problem for decades, now. Californian cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco is paved with homeless encampments with an extreme easy access to fentanyl and which people use, not to relieve themselves from a physical pain but an emotional one from the living conditions the Land of The Free "offers" the wretched and the dregs who have fallen on hard times. How is it that it's easier to get a car loan than a home (apartment/flat) loan, or, fentanyl than an antibiotic? They're allowing this crisis to clusterfvck out of proportion to blow beyond any possible solution just to maintain "America's War on Drugs" budget whilst turning a blind eye at pharmaceutical companies. Government has simply passed the ball onto the next generation.

A lot of America movies/tv shows support doing drugs while partying and you get people growing up who think its "cool" thing to do and get addicted and this is one of the results of it. The world is a lot safer when people don't consume these things, same with alcohol where over consumption can lead to aggressive behavior, for some even turning to homelessness. Be mindful what you say yes to and I believe if a person has STRONG enough willpower then they are able to get rid of their addictions.

That's typically not how addiction works, you may be watching too much telly. Drug addiction usually comes from a desperate place - poverty, homelessness, pain prescriptions etc which is a problem with the way things are run: profit first, people last. Recreational drug use creates far, far less addicts than the above listed reasons.

Indeed, the fentanyl crisis has had a profound impact on Baltimore, but it is crucial to recognize that this devastating issue extends far beyond the confines of a single city. The rapid influx and abundance of fentanyl crossing our borders, infiltrating our society, and tragically claiming the lives of our fellow citizens is an unimaginable tragedy. The spread of this deadly fentanyl 'plague' has permeated every corner of the United States, affecting countless cities and communities nationwide. It is imperative that we address this crisis, implementing comprehensive measures to combat the fentanyl epidemic and safeguard the well-being of our nation.

If people are that desperate for pain relievers it must mean they aren't happy with their lives & are seeking an escape. So what is it about our society that leads people to be so unhappy? I think it's because the bar has been set so high - you have to make $150,000 a year to pay for all your expenses plus have some to go to sports events, start a family, get someone interested in you so there's some love in your life, etc. A lot of people cannot make that kind of $ so they feel left out of the American Dream, so they opt for medication that can take them into a state of bliss, essentially a substitute for that dream, even if it's dangerous & temporary. That means we live in a broken society.

Legalize drugs and use the billions that are no longer needed to fight a sham war to help addicts that want to recover and become productive members of society. The same amount of people are going to be drug addicts whether drugs are legal or not so why not legalize drugs and use the billions of wasted money on an un-winnable war (we can all agree the war on drugs is 100% not working - 100 thousand dying a year and climbing ) and use it for rehabilitation infrastructure. Absolutely do not start a war on doctors because that only fuels hundreds of thousands of desperate people to go to the streets for their relief. Let the people continue to use if they want even if that means eventual organ failure and or overdose. It is supposed to be a free country right? If people choose to dedicate their lives to drugs until they eventually overdose that should be their right to do so . We always try and control so much when in reality open mindedness and courage to try new things is what wins the opioid crisis. If you legalize drugs that means cartels have no more money. If cartels have no money there is no resources or weapons folding into our cities and making them war zones. How can people die unwittingly from a bad batch of fentanyl if the Mexican cartels are no longer shipping it across the borders because drugs are now legal and there is no reason for anyone to buy street drugs. Does drugs being legal mean everyone starts using pain medicine? What do you think? Of course not. THE SAME AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT USE ARE GOING TO USE WHETHER DRUGS ARE LEGAL OR NOT . So why not take the power away from the cartels ? You can even take it a step further and say rightfully that it’s the cartels that control our southern border not the US government. The cartels send drugs and weapons across the border everyday. Yes some of them get confiscated but most do not. Same as drugs and people , bad hombres. You could even say americas war on drugs is a national security threat because having drugs illegal means the cartels continue to make billions off fentanyl and Ice, which in turn means they have to send continual resources, people and weapons to all of our cities to secure their investments. So yes you could say legalizing drugs would in fact be within the best interest of securing our national security .

I have to take fentanyl in a transdermal patch that lasts 72 hours for chronic pain. It is frustrating that the studies on Fentanyl do not take into account which deaths are normal patients who use the drug responsibly and which are abusing the drug for recreational purposes. This is a major problem because we cannot see what the real dangers are. Some people like George Floyd, was many times overdosed on fentanyl, plus other drugs such as Meth when he died. Fentanyl can cause depression in your breathing and make you breath slower or stop breathing if you overdose. I think it’s wrong to demonise this drug when it is good for responsible people with medical need. I should not drink alcohol because it says in the information, drinking alcohol may cause death. The focus should be on those who abuse the drug and mix with other drugs making a volatile cocktail, plus alcohol that causes death. The studies need to distinguish between those who have died from the drug from overdose that occurred due to a drug addiction or those who are on prescription for a medical condition.

A close friend of mine is on Fent and he's already OD'd twice. He's on borrowed time if he doesn't immediately take action and I'm petrified. Basically a lot of it is imported into Mexico from China and brought in that way. One of the major issues that EVERYTHING is laced with fent now coz its so potent - Firstly it's a lot more discrete to import coz you don't have the same volumetric bulk, Secondly the profits are gonna increase if you get a bigger high from a smaller dose So then that allows your particular product to stand out amongst the rest And due to its highly addictive qualities you're guaranteed to be a return customer

  • @nevadatan7323

    @nevadatan7323

You'll always hear the thing of "it doesn't make financial sense to kill your customer base" and that's total BS They don't have to care about ppl dying because the profits are far greater than with any other product And what's more is theres a constant stream of people already waiting to become potential customers whether they know it or not. You can literally go out searching for Oxycontin and wind up with fent without knowing And due to its potency it just does NOT allow for any margins of error on a hot batch

And honestly speaking the Pharmaceutical/medical fields have a lot to answer for. Opiates for pain aren't a joke, they're being handed out recklessly... and when your 'treatment' ends and you've developed an addiction you're not tapered, and withdrawal isn't managed. That's why ppl turn to street drugs, coz they're desperate. And the rehab centres in themselves are pricey money making rackets. People are having to self medicate coz of the irresponsibility of private medical care

I'm going to anger a lot of people and say that I was on pain drugs for 3.5 years for a spinal injury. Never abused it. Went off of it on my own, and trying to live with the pain, the best that I can. Quality of life is poorer, but this is what I chose. I just stopped cold-turkey one day, a couple of months after being advised that my pain outcome and future need for medication would only rise. It was apparently supposed to be weaned, so I did it the wrong way. It *really* sucked for about 4-6 hours, and there were noticeable side effects for 2-3 days. One week later, no issues. People need to knuckle out to the other side. I don't get the hysteria over pain drugs. I don't think it's a disease. It's a choice. People make that decision, and it shouldn't be taken away from them. This side should be heard more often, but it's not. You only hear about the poor outcomes. That only contributes to learned helplessness and poor decisions. It is a decision.
