I have never fully blacked out, but my vision tends to go wonky (shift red or similar) on the first drop. Glad that I'm far from the only one who has difficulties with the forces. Agreed, 10/10.

I’ve ridden this a lot, although it’s been a while by now. I never had anything funny happen on the first drop, however, I used to start to black out in the first overbanked turn. My vision would close up from the outside in. by the time I came out of that turn, all I had was a small circle of view that wasn’t black 😂. And I agree, my favorite coaster and I’ve ran through that park plus been on kingda ka in NJ.

For those of you who black out, are you screamers? I’m curious of the correlation between intense screaming and cases of blacking out. I’ve never been close to blacking out on rides, and love intense positive G’s, but I don’t do any yelling while riding. Let me know your thoughts and experiences if you’re also interested in this!

I had a friend who described Millennium so perfectly. “Most coasters fight with you. They want to beat you. The coaster is your enemy. Millennium DANCES with you. It’s your partner. You both have the same goal. You both desire the same thing. It’s flowing and elegant. You don’t win by resisting. You win by surrendering.”

Most of these coasters, I refuse to get on because they seem to literally be trying to pull you out of the seat and kill you. This one would still be a bit of a hard sell because of the height, but I'll at least consider it as a goal to work my way up toward.

I think a lot of enthusiasts forget (or weren't even around yet) just how impactful this coaster was back in 2000. This coaster was EVERYWHERE - Newspapers, TV shows, news stations, every program about rollercoasters had to talk about Millennium Force - you couldn't escape it! I remember opening day, they had enthusiasts from countries like Japan and Germany fly out to Cedar Point, just to be one of the first to ride this attraction. As much as us enthusiasts LOVE Steel Vengeance and Maverick ( SV is my #1 roller coaster of all time), I have to ask - are these coasters as impactful as Millennium Force was? As far as the mainstream goes, not even close. Even though enthusiasts prefer both of these coasters, none had even close to the amount of media/press coverage, documentation, and hype Millennium Force got its opening year. Millennium Force was a legit superstar in its own right, and is arguably the most iconic roller coaster ever built ( for sure the most iconic in this millennium).

Not to kinda destroy your point but the main reason millie got so much media attention wasn't anything more than the coaster wars. The reason steve doesn't get the same attention isn't because it's not impactful, it's because media has strayed from caring about amusement parks. Think about it. Cf and sf just merged and it was a footnote on a CNN article about Israel. It's not fair to compare media attention today, with media attention back then because the media was different.

It was June 2002. Me, my brother, and my Mom rode Millennium Force for the first time ever. I can remember being scared in line seeing the steep 310 foot lift hill, telling Mom I wanted to get out of line. A half hour later, we were in the train, it finished climbing the lift hill, Mom yelling, "close your eyes if you want to!". Turns out my eyes were wide open and she's the one that had her eyes closed lol. In the next 2 and a half minutes, Millennium Force became my favorite rollercoaster ever. And remains to this day, in my opinion, the best rollercoaster of all time. How I wish I could turn back time to experience this moment between me and Mom once again on the greatest rollercoaster ever, with the greatest Mom ever. Though she died in October 2018, Millennium Force helps me remember her. I love you Mom. You continue to be missed, not that you have any chance of ever being forgotten. Not that Millennium Force has any chance of ever being rivaled in greatness and magnifence, of any other rollercoaster.

What makes Millennium Force so unique compared to other gigas is how graceful it is. The long first drop, the smoothness, the constant speed, hugging the ground, the intermittent floater airtime (yes, I feel it). Like you said it's not the most intense ride out there but the overall aura of the ride gives off such an elegant vibe. No other coaster really comes close to matching such a feeling, imo.

I always considered the name and feel of the ride to be its "theme." So its lack of ejector airtime and rapid twists was out of this idea that the "millennium" would be fast, smooth, technological, things that we think of when we think futuristic. We also mustn't forget the kickass soundtrack they play on the loading platform. If you want ejector airtime you can step over to Magnum and have it rattle you out of your seat and throw you about till your heart's content. I remember back during the first two years that Millennium Force was opened the ride experimenting with faster dispatch times. The ride pretty much runs a train along its circuit and doesn't dispatch another one until it hits the final breakrun. But I remember, and my dad remembers this, too, that in those first two years there were times - it was not universal - where a train was dispatched after the train ahead of it cleared the two overbanks on the island. They didn't do this for very long, but they did it, like I said, on and off for about two seasons. I'm not sure if this was originally part of Intiman's plan for the ride, or if the park decided there was no conceivable advantage to doing it, or because of the lack of blockbreaks that there might be a liability and so stopped. But they did do this. Maybe you can shed some light on that? This is, and was, always one of my favorite rides growing up. I've ridden a number of the other gigas, and this is still my favorite. I grew up in Northeastern Ohio, and also lived for a time in the Carolinas, so I've done both Millennium and Fury, and while Fury certainly is doing more, it doesn't impress me. I think that's because non-inverting B&M rides don't thrill me like inverting B&M rides. And, while I think Fury is a great ride, the B&M Intimidator at Carowinds I find more enjoyable. But a problem with B&M is how carbon copy their hyper and giga coasters are. I prefer Intiman, and I love Morgan and old school Arrow hypers. I always found Raptor's history and popularity to be a bit surprising and sad. The ride sits near the front of the park and was rapturously welcomed in '94 and continued to be freakish popular, really up until about 2013. I think Raptor, Millennium Force, Maverick, Steel Vengeance, and Magnum, are best coasters in the park, followed closely by GateKeeper, Top Thrill, Wicked Twister, and Blue Streak. It depresses me that people don't seem to flock to it anymore, but I'm happy I can ride it with less waiting!

Great video! As an older enthusiast, I was obsessed with this coaster from the moment it was announced. I made sure that I was in attendance for opening day. Cedar point workers were conducting surveys at the exit of the ride that day. They were concerned about the height and speed of the ride. They feared that the ride was so tall and fast that perhaps people would not ride and just watch it from the midway. Consequently, they didn’t want to make it too forceful as they were venturing into uncharted waters with a new giga coaster. This is why they didn’t push the limits on the intensity with the first coaster of this type. Later, other gigas come out with even more intensity and people bash the original. However, they are separated by many years and Millennium Force was the original to break this important barrier.

I would be very sad to see Valraven close. But he’s right, Millennium can’t go away. It is a stable of Cedar points Skyline, and a symbol of the park. It’s a good ride for anybody, which is another reason why it is immortal. Wether your 10-50yrs old, you can ride this and have a blast.

Honestly Millennium Force is one of my most favorite and enjoyable rollercoasters out there. It’s such a smooth ride and the minimum restraints really let you feel the speed. It is also just an amazing normal rollercoaster, no boosters, no brake zones aside from the end, and no loops. Just fun banks, gravity, and a smooth ride.

This will always be my favorite roller coaster. Can I admit there are better ones? Of course. However, it took me over 10 years to get to CP after I started to like roller coasters and Millennium Force was the one I basically waited my life to ride. The joy I had the first time I saw it and the walk to it will never be beat and that glorious first ride. I had such a huge smile of pure joy.

When I went to Cedar Point for 2 days out of my 4 day vacation in May 2018 we got the Fast lane pass for all the rides and the only one we weren’t able to use it for was Steel Vengeance since it had just opened the week we went there. As for as wait times I have to say Millennium Force had the longest queue wait times with the exception of Steel Vengeance, as its wait time was averaging 4-8 hours and was only running a single train due to the accident. The only ride that had hardly any wait was Gate Keeper. We rode the hell out of Top Thrill Dragster and we were lucky enough to experience a double rollback!

Still in my top 10. Have there been more intense rides rides since? Yes. But when this ride opened it literally blew my mind. There was nothing else like it, and it truly felt like the most advanced coaster ever built. This is the type of groundbreaking attraction that Cedar Point used to be known for. I’ve been honestly underwhelmed by their lineup the last 10 years. Yes Steel Vengeance is amazing, but it’s still an RMC and doesn’t do anything revolutionary - it’s just the longest, tallest, and fastest of an already existing model. Millenium Force harkens back to a time when CP would be the first to debut new coaster models and take risks. While better gigas have come since (and even better hypers), Millenium Force is a legend because it represented a new era of ingenuity for coaster design.

It all just sticks in your brain from the first time you see it. It came out as something big and fresh and new, and over 20 years has aged into a modern classic. My first giga was I-305, this is my second. I find that I enjoy MF so much more than I-305. However I will say that I-305 is good but there’s something about MF by comparison with the crowds reaction to it. Many know all there is about this ride and have done it for 20 years in many cases but that excitement and pure love for MF I see is something special. I enjoy seeing the riders whiz past with their hands up and shouting hoy prior to the break run and even then you still hear the cheers! I do pretty much each time I’ve rode it. Love it. Millennium Force is one coaster im glad I finally got to experience. Took me 21 years to do it but I enjoy it like it’s brand new! Prior to this first ever cedar point trip, the most excitement I saw for a coaster was the soft opening if west coast racer in 2019. Steel Vengeance is the best ride in the park, but my favorite in terms of enjoyment is Dragster. SV is a better ride overall, but Dragster is the experience I'm always telling others about. Same reason I love Full Throttle so much despite it being kind of a flawed ride and ranking it lower than other rides in that park.

It was just me and my older sister visiting the park for the first time in four years. I looked at the blue behemoth as a new coaster to try out. As soon as I got in the train, I knew there was no going back. I was overwhelmed by the first drop, but the adreneline rush was so satisfying. Thanks to this, Maverick, and Magnum, I became a coaster enthusiast.

I worked at Cedar Point in 2016 during the summer. Before that I wasn't a huge fan of the more intense coasters out there, but I forced myself out of my comfort zone, and rode the Valravn because it was the new coaster with all the hype. Then I was told that Millennium Force was more of a test. The first time I got on MF and neared the top of that beginning hill, all I could think was "oh my god I've made a terrible mistake" and then it dropped. At the end of the ride though I actually shouted "that was AWSOME" and it led to me really wanting to try all of the coasters at CP. I enjoyed that summer a lot more after that ride, and really enjoyed the Dragster, Raptor, and Maverick. But Millennium Force has a special place in my heart and watching this video has me longing to go back to Cedar Point and ride this wonderful coaster many times.

I went on Fury for the 1st time last year and I thought it would blow MF out of the water. Nope.

On my first ride, in the back car, it was the first time I ever feared for my life on a roller coaster. I was NOT expecting it to launch over that first drop so fast, and I reached down for my lap bar like I thought something broke and I was flying out of my seat. It was an AWESOME experience! lol

I have to say, the ride is somewhat magical for me. It allows the rider to float, and to have such a long, smooth ride experience that I, as a lifelong enthusiast, have never experienced anywhere else. It is a great ride.

This blue monster will always hold a place dear to my heart. I was essentially coerced by my friend's mom into riding it in 2001, as I was still hesitant to ride anything close to this size. I remember just throwing my arms up as we created the lift hill at age 14 and that was it. Bring on whatever a park could muster.

I agree with you 100% as Millenium force is also my favorite coaster at Cedar Point while I think Steel Vengeance is a better ride. It's very difficult to explain that to people but you did a great job of it.

It was life changing. I'm from So Cal so we have Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm, but Cedar Point isn't known to many out here. When I would stay up and watch TV as a kid Millennium Force was everywhere! E! channel, BBC, Discovery, History, Nat Geo all had engineering and entertainment segments dedicated to this roller coaster! Though ive never been to CP, when I envision its grandeur, one roller coaster is clear in my vision; Millennium Force. When I picture visiting Ohio, my goal- even with the addition of new coasters- is to get in line even if its for 3 hours and ride this One Specific Coaster! It stands as a monument to Excellence

The Millennium Force is my favorite roller coaster at Cedar Point. I fell in love with this beauty from the first time I rode it in 2000. The Millennium Force will always be my favorite and I look forward to riding it year after year!!
