僕もシリコンバレーに40年住んでいます。サラトガ市に一軒家を持っていますがゆったりしていて、人と会うのは毎朝の散歩で数人出会うのと毎週のゴルフと毎週の農民市場くらいですね。先月久しぶりに日本に行ったら、日本は本当にcondensed societyだな〜と圧倒されました。住宅もひしめき合っているし何処にも人が多いという感じ。あるいは超巨大で精密な時計仕掛けの社会という風に見えましたね。
