The Ill-Fated Voyage of HMS Wager w/ David Grann

Музыка

My guest this week is award-winning writer David Grann, whose new book, "The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder", is currently number one on the New York Times Hardcover Non-Fiction Best Sellers list.
It's the tale of HMS Wager, a British warship that gets separated from the rest of its squadron while in pursuit of a treasure-filled Spanish galleon. The ship wrecks off the coast of Chile and the surviving crew members face off against each other amidst disease, cold and starvation - with deadly results.

I'm fascinated by early maritime stories like these. Your podcast provides a dangerous temptation to buy books!

I can't believe I beat "Most Notorious". I just finished this book. This was an incredible book. There were so many different viewpoints on the exact same events. This book was written in a manner that cuts through most of the confusion.

Strange that David Grann mentions that he has seen filmed footage already when I read elsewhere that filming hasn't even started yet? I mean Scorsesee has only just released Killers of the flower moon

Very interesting as usual. I hate to ask again, but can you please tell me the name of the opening piano piece and the pianist who wrote and played it? You previously told me, but it got lost in the shuffle. Thanks from Fall River, home of you know who.
