The IDEAL Basketball Training Schedule 🗓 | Train Smart!

Спорт

This is the training template that I've used for a few years now with my athletes, and it's worked its magic. Obviously, it's still super important to change this up a bit depending on your resources and needs as an athlete, but this is pretty fool-proof to seeing big results with your training!

    I'd disagree with this one. This is anywhere between 75 and 180 minutes per day most times. That's doable.

    I agree, you need a lighter workout week routine as well. I have 4 day workout week as well as a 6 day workout. On the 4 day workout week I just get in pickup where I can. If you doing less than 3 workouts a week tho for serious ball you should find something else.

    As an Asian, I studied most of the day at school and the school end around 5 pm so it’s harder to train at my place. What I do is just playing during a break or a gap minutes between class. It’s not an intense one but atleast I learn a little everyday.

    I have four team practices a week and games every week. I wake up early and shoot Monday, Tuesday, Friday before school. I also do weights before school on Wednesday and Thursday. Then I also do weights Saturday and Sunday. Then I have my practices after school on Tuesday and Thursday as well as like two on Saturday. Then I just shoot with my friends on Sunday and sometimes on Wednesday if we aren't doing anything. I study in free gaps I have.

    Absolutely. The average basketball player uses 80% ATP CP for energy during a game. Basketball is very strength based. Powerlifting can help. Just make sure you include balance and mobility exercises as well.

    Hey there sir, I’m 12 years old turning 13 and I am trying to put this in my schedule. But we have a high school (gr 7) varsity practice for 2 hours and although it is not as intense as our senior high school varsity practice it is so hard to add this to my workload. How can I do this but I also have school from 7am-3pm and extra assignments because I am aiming for valedictorian. I would really like some advice here.

  • @ZeeFighter28

    @ZeeFighter28

    maybe just take extra things out of your load. Focus on School and basketball then leave the rest. Take days off training as needed to recover and get grades up. Balance school work and ball work. If youre only 13 you dont need to lift weights or train 6 days a week.

  • @warithmuhammad8890

    Honestly, training 6 days a week is not reasonable. You would have to deload on the 3rd week in order for your body to fully recover and adapt to the stimulus. The reason why is this: When you train, your muscles take about 48-72 hours to recover. Your joints take longer (about a week). However, your central nervous system (which is your CNS), that takes longer to recover (about 1-2 weeks, or even longer depending on the training). I would recommend that you do 2-a-days for 4 days a week where you lift weights (upper-lower split 4 days a week) in the morning and do your basketball training in the evening. With proper nutrition in place (a balanced meal 1-2 hours before & 1-2 hours after lifting then some fruits and vegetables 1 hour before your basketball workout, then another meal after basketball), you can do this 4 week 2-a-day for up to 4 weeks before you deload. I recommend not doing anything on the deload in order for your body to adapt and fully recover.

    You didn’t talk about aerobic conditioning at all? I think it’s a common huge mistake to not run in zone2 for basketball. Iverson was even clocked at a 4minute and something second mile. Some of the best college/NBA players do 45min treadmill/bike/rower/elliptical at 65-74% bpm every other day on top of their normal training. Jordan has even said aerobic conditioning is important.
