No, we aren't. People have many different opinions about who is most beautiful. People tend to choose someone from their own nationality who speaks their own language, you aren't going to find huge Anne Hathaway fan clubs in China or India, or just about anywhere where English isn't the dominant language. And even there, people disagree. To me, she's very attractive but Alysssa Milano and Melanie Brown from the Spice Girls are more attractive, along with others.

Also like niche experience, but Solene's relationship to the gallery and the art felt very realistic for someone who has actual real world art gallery experience. The experience of falling head over heels for a piece of art you cannot afford is so very real.

I would say it’s still fanfiction, just not wattpad fanfiction. There is a difference. Like all Sherlock interpretations are fanfictions. I would say the Doctor Who reboot is bordering on fanfiction. And The Cursed Child is a Harry Potter fanfiction that was a comercial success.

It still counts as transformative fiction if it was based off existing works or people, regardless of whether you 'file off the serial numbers' or where it was first published, but that is a distinction most people don't seem to know or care about. I'd agree that if it wasn't originally written with Harry's name, then it isn't technically fanfiction, though where it's published has nothing to do with whether something is fanfiction - original works are posted on AO3 and Wattpadd and fanfic is published and shared in all kinds of places, and was originally published and shared in print even discounting centuries of people handwriting it and sharing it through letters or salons, or composing and sharing it orally.

  • @arshiyaamreen5808

It definitely was fanfic no matter how much the author tries concealing it. Certain plot points align just too conveniently. Just because the name is changed from Harry to Hayes, doesn't make it less of a fanfic. The author has even used multiple Harry Styles photos as character fancast years ago. The book is definitely a Harry Styles fanfic. The movie, though, is altered to be more based on the trope of 'extremely popular and attractive British boy band lead singer'.

16:45 oh god I'm pretty sure the Hayes/Oliver stuff is a reference to the whole Harry Styles/Louis Tomlinson thing a lot of their fans are into and many even genuinely believe is or was real at some point. So I can only assume the idea here is that Oliver is firmly in the closet so it wouldn't be Hayes' place to out him by telling her his 'other' biggest secret. I think that's how the irl fans think about it as well, since Styles doesn't label himself and at least half of Tomlinson's fans are queer in some way and his concerts are basically pride parades. ...and yes I low-key hate myself for knowing all of this.

I do criticize the band and laugh at the band comments sometimes join them lol 😂 but know crazy know a lot of stuff about them amd read their fan fics. The one direction sometimes juvenile fan faction is justified because they are young men and their fandom is pretty young in general with the Jovi fan fic I myself sometimes cringe that they write adults behaving like kids If they do 80s based stories I’m okay with it or even 90s. But I’ve read a story that even though I enjoyed I kind of cringed a little with the behavior of the characters because it was written with the circle tour with the band almost all hitting 50 and I’m like nooo, that behavior doesn’t fit a 50 something guys. Even though it’s a rock band which actually it’s more pop. Bon Jovi is very much like the 1D of the 80s but the guys singing and playing instruments instead of singing and dancing. You could basically say they were the maroon 5 of the 80s, 90s and early 00s.

Maybe Phaethon was chosen as a tattoo because of the chaos and ruin he caused upon the earth, believing he could drive the sun chariot. It could represent Hayes and Solene's relationship, believing they could make it work, but eventually having to face the chaos their relationship creates for themselves and Solene's child and ultimately having to strike it down, so none of them would crash and burn. This is all just hypothetical, though. The Four Disgracers are really cool pieces of art. I hope to see them in person one day. Edit: I just realized Solene, although a French name meaning "solemn" or "religious" could also be Spanish in origin, meaning "sun" or "sunlight." So I guess in this whole metaphor or allegory or whatever, perhaps Solene was the sun chariot that Hayes thought he could drive without consequences. I'm thinking way too hard about this.

I liked the movie, but it definitely has a very different feel to the book. In the book, he's the one who makes a point to follow her to art events, rather than her going on tour with the band. He tries to learn more about art. It's a really important part of her story that her ex-husband never showed an interest in her work, whereas Hayes tries to understand and appreciate her passion. That’s how she moves from seeing their relationship as just a fling, to falling in love with him. He also fucks things up several times by doing things like hauling her out of an important art show, and that highlights their different levels of emotional maturity. I liked the film too, but I think it would be better if they hadn't sacrificed this part of the story. Now we just get "two beautiful people fall in love because reasons". It would've been so easy to just include a little scene where he walks past a piece of art and correctly identifies the artist, to show us (and her) how much effort he's putting in. It's a fun movie, but it's just missing a bit of the depth that would've made it a great movie.

fun(?) fact: the frontal lobe does not finish developing at 25, in fact so far it seems like it never stops developing! it's a common myth that comes from misreporting of a study that expected to find that development ended in the 18-25 age range and so stopped gathering data after 25 but in reality they didn't observe any end in the development process, they just didn't have the means to keep the study going

This tiring shit about what’s problematic and what’s not really takes me out of enjoying anything unless I just don’t interact with other people ever. As long as two people are consenting adults and there’s no abuse, I don’t care. A position where abuse can be easier does not make it abuse or make it abusive inherently. If that was the case we shouldn’t have straight relationships at all, since men are physically stronger than women by average, which makes you in an advantageous position to abuse. It’s silly and I’m tired of hearing about it. Ever single situation or relationship is individual and situational and should only be judged in the context of that specific relationship. Do you see abusive tactics? No? Then shove off. “But what could you possibly have in common?” What would a successful lawyer of the same age and gender have in common with an artist who is in poverty? You can do that with anything, then it becomes arbitrary.

This. I get that feeling skeeved out by a non traditional relationship comes from a good place (not wanting to encourage unbalanced or possibly harmful power dynamics), but feel-good romcoms don't feel like the place to have these discussions? Like, let people turn off their brains. And I feel bad for the kids of healthy couples with huge age gaps, some of who have left comments on this vid that an age gap isn't inherently a bad thing. My parents married inter-racially, and I wish people didn't treat it like a red flag/exploitative so I can kinda relate 😕

I loved this movie but I'm also divorced for a couple of years and 53. I have seen so so many videos that slam the movie because of the age gap and it's such a young generation thing to me. Obviously is it's a minor it's a crime or some wild young person and someone way way older to where the power structure there is obvious. However what's the big deal. She is older but he isn't a kid in college living in a dorm. It's fictional and he is wealthy and has travelled the world for years so I'm sure while he's young the maturity level Would be pretty different than the average 24 year old. This age gap ordeal is a newer thing. I was barely 18 and was dating a guy who was 26. I also had my own place and wasn't a kid at home going to school. We were married 28 years. I thought the story was great because it focused on her and her finding herself after a shit divorce and trust me I've been hit on by guys in their 20's and no it's not my thing and I have kids who are 30 but listen if it was Harry styles for instance I would be like "kids what kids" 😂 it was good we are older women not dead

The vast majority of the time capital R romances have a happy ending.... So I was actually pretty upset and HATED the ending of the book. 🤷‍♀️ I really don't think that it was a realistic ending at all because they both very very clearly were still deeply in love with each other she just gave up and ghosted him. It really seems like they BOTH never got over it... He just eventually stopped texting her because she refused to reply to his texts. It just made me sad and angry and I don't really like feeling that way after reading a romance novel. 🤷‍♀️ Other people might feel okay feeling those emotions... but it's NOT my cup of tea whatsoever. Romance novels make me happy... that's why I read them. I was happy during the process of reading the book but the ending did not make me happy. Very glad they changed it in the movie.

Anne Hathaway saying lines like I'm too old for you and I'm old enough to be your mom is just Hollywood Twilight-Zone territory. Technically, yes, in actual chronological years, sure, okay, fine. But something still seems off. Can't quite put my finger on it. Yeah, no. Wait, yes I can. It's odd because she's Anne MF Hathaway. Helloooo. Did you see her take off the coat to reveal that spray-on dress to remind everybody, Yeah. I'm still Catwoman. Meee-ow. Age isn't a factor in this scenario because, again, helloooo. They cast the human fountain of youth Anne GD Hathaway. But, it's cute how the movie still puts her in Clark Kent glasses and mom jeans so we can all participate in the shared illusion of going through the motions collective lie that she isn't really immortal and a warrior goddess Amazonian from Asgard. Downright adorable. It's like Hathaway getting to cosplay for unwashed commoners day. She's a GD genetic freak of nature and complete utter delight. Anne could rock a fat suit and still raise the tent pole hype to full staff without a half mast to be found. Yeah. Metaphors. Not for amateurs, baby.
