The Iconic Rubicon Trail - 71st Annual Jeepers Jamboree - Sort of.

sometimes, when you plan a trip to the Iconic Rubicon Trail, things can go wrong-very wrong, and yet those broken things give you a unique opportunity to overcome, a chance to wheel parts of the trail very few 'outsiders' get to... and truly have an experience that creates both memories and incredible stories. This was one of those trips!

Man, you guys really seem to struggle quite a bit, and those are the easier sections on the trail.

The struggle was real after the break, as it would be for anyone. Yeah, it’s quite unfortunate that the LJ broke where it did, but it didn’t stop our determination to move forward, working together and with the help of the Jeepers Jamboree crew. The LJs 4wd wasn’t working, only had 3wd with the front locker engaged, not to mention that both the upper and lower track bar/LCA mounts both broke. Personally, I think Nathan and Brad did an excellent job handling the entire ordeal, and I know we’re all super grateful for the assistance and hospitality of the JJ crew to get us through the weekend and off the trail

aaaah, so you all are the ones that had the trail backed up. I heard it on the Ham radio. No worries. We had a nice game of touch football waiting for things to clear.😅. Was that a fun event or what.😀

@ADVENTURUSS got it. we started late...8am and got held up at ellis Bridge for about 90 min. Someone up ahead had an axle issue. Luckily the jamboree mechanics were able to bring one in on a dirt bike. (trials motorcycle) Those trail mechanics were awesome. Just got to take it in stride. We knew this might happen, which is why we brought the football.😁

I must know more about the LJ. I hope that mine doesn't have that many issues on a trail run. Great video.. 3:50 Is your Jeep in low range? If so, you really do need an Atlas, if not then you should be to save the transmission.

Head on over to the @jeepinbubba channel for his vid.. you’ll find out more about the LJ issues we overcame. As far as the low range thing, not sure, I wasn’t driving at the time, but we ran a good bit of the trail in 4L and 4H. Driving the V8 isn’t exactly the same as a 6cyl… not to mention a 10speed trans vs 5.

Your lj will be fine so long as you properly maintain it snd don't beat it. The lj is a great wheel base, I've walked up obstacles on the Rubicon that TJ's and 4 door Jk's on 37s couldn't make it up. It really comes down to driver skill and the correct upgrades, I've run the Rubicon many times in mine on 35s and without engaging the lockers unless I absolutely needed them.
