The Hunt for The Fine White Wine Man 🇱🇰
■ UKUWELA, SRI LANKA: Every since I randomly ran into the genius that is Sri Lanka's Fine White Wine Man on a run to the local liquor store 4 years ago, I've dreamt of running into him again, to actually sit down for a drink this time. I planned on visiting him again 3 years ago but world events took a turn for the worse.
Now, a full 4 years since I first saw him, Sri Lanka has finally opened again and you can roam around freely from state to state without wearing mandatory excess garments over your face. Freedom at last!
So upon touchdown in Colombo, Sri Lanka's capital, I immediately got my hands on a motorbike, so I could journey up to Ukuwela where the last sighting of the fine white wine man occured some 3 years ago.
Does he still live there? Is he still into white wine? Is the wine store even still there?
I had tons of questions and zero answers. There was only one solution: investigate for myself with a bottle of Sri Lanka's finest wine... as what kind of guest would show up empty handed?
Certainly not me!

As much as I admire Harald for being "the" consumate adventurer - even I wouldn't drive a vehicle at night without front or rear lights. I am only a car driver and even in a car I wouldn't go down to the corner shop in my own area by car if the headlights weren't working. Today is a great day, not only because harald uploaded, but he went back to Sri Lanka to complete his chapter. What a man! Not to mention the people in Sri Lanka need the tourism back, and it's just an amazing country. I hope I can visit again too!

14 locomotives were gifted by Canada to Sri Lanka starintg in 1954 under the columbo Plan. Many are still in operation being named mostly after Canadian provinces. Amazing logenvity on these.

Yep, actually there are two sets (14 each) of Canadian locomotives in CGR (Ceylon Government Railway), M2 series is from 1954 and M4 series from 1975. I think 27 locos are still running and only 1 is lost. Even 591 "Manitoba" which was destroyed in 2004 Tsunami was repaired and back in service.

Great vlog Harald! I vividly remember that video you did 4 years ago. Seems like yesterday. Where has all the time gone. You must be one of the most down to earth people on earth. I like how you enjoy the simple things in life like just walking and admiring the scenery and nature. You also enjoy the company of everyday people. You didn't accomplish your mission but the most important thing is you did your best! Life is like that. Sometimes things don't come your way but if you always persist more things than less things will come your way!

@@ireviewsca5778 He is a legend!!! My wife made a remark that her favorite fish is Cuttlefish. Freeman then hopped on his bike, and went to several fish markets to find cuttlefish without us even asking. He came back smiling with a big bag of Cuttlefish! Our dinner that night was amazing!

@@austinwcaudill there was another you-tuber I can’t remember the name which i watched long time ago like last year… he was there to have a cup of tea…. But the tea guy was closed…. So he went to the close by shop and asked what happen… they said due to coronavirus he was out of business and had to close….

@Nom Flo Yeah I also think he's open again. Was going to visit but lost 5 days due to illness so didn't have time 😔 Anyway Sri Lanka is mask free now so won't be 3 years before my next visit
Come again after 4 years. If you find him, well and good. If you do not, come back again. Do not lose hope. Keep this hunt going. All the best from Assam- India.
