In an ironic way even tho they tried to erase Lucy Grey from history she came back with both Katniss and the song she wrote. Katniss a girl from 12 became the Mockingjay a bird that Snow in the book HATED and the Hanging tree song became the anthem of the rebellion 65yrs later ❤‍🔥 in a way Lucy Grey got the last laugh and who knows might have outlived him

Nah fr. I fully believe she survived. I also just love to think of her living out in some cabin in the woods somewhere, an old woman, still singing songs from her youth, and then hearing that snow got taken down by someone called Katniss, who’s moniker is the mockingjay, and used her song while doing it? She would probably laugh her ass off.

@@rjcommentary4580to be fair though, in the books the “hanging tree” song wasn’t as prevalent. The footage of her singing it never aired like it did in the movie, therefore snow never heard her sing it and it didn’t become a rallying cry for the rebels. That was all just for the movie.

In the books, Snow is more narcisstic and evil from the start. There was never any "turning point" for him, and he never really loved Lucy Gray, he only saw her as a possession--something to own. In the books he always referred to her as "mine" "my" "his" Lucy Gray.

The book does not specifiy if Lucy Gray is dead or alive. It's a mystery, like her. The most logical sequel, which I am sure Lionsgate is pressing Suzanne Collins to write, is about Mags. Mags was the old lady in Catching Fire--Finnick's district partner. who walked into the poison fog She won the year after Lucy Gray when Snow was a Gamemaker.

34:09 Lucy Gray is gone. There will be no spin offs. As snow put it; “The Capitol would forget her. The districts barely knew her. And District 12 had never accepted her as one of their own. In a few years there would be a vague memory that a girl had once sung in the arena and then that would be forgotten too. Goodbye Lucy Gray, we hardly knew you.” I’m gonna miss Lucy Gray too though, not gonna lie.

Maybe I’m reaching but I found that the proposal in the snake pit scene to be a microscopic representation of this entire movie(society, irl really). Clemecia (I think that’s her name), the one that tried to claim Snow’s ideas as her own, she could have just come out with the truth and own up to her lying, but instead she reached into the pit KNOWING she’d get bit. I think it speaks to the extent in which what people are willing to do for clout or to climb up the ranks in any way they can; to become the victor. So beautifully done. 👏🏽

One cut I was shocked about is Lucy Gray singing the ‘deep in the meadow’ song to her cousin Maude Ivory, which is the same song katniss sings to Prim and Rue, I thought for sure the movie would’ve kept that one in

This is from Tom and Rachel interview. Tom said.. "If I had to pick one, I would say they are in love for a short time, short but sweet time. But, is it love of circumstance, is it born out of circumstance and out of need for each other, and then the question is what even is love? Does love have to be just like this pure thing that comes out of nowhere or sometimes out of circumstance, is it out of what one person needs from another.. so yeah, I would say.. YES, BUT.." Tom said.. "The challenge, the imbalance of power that they're fighting, the ambiguity of it, I think Coryo was looking at her thinking, "I love her but she feels dangerous to me", she feels like the very chaos that he's been taught you have to control in order to have a flourishing society that he wants to live in and she kinda represent the chaos, the fire, the music and the life, and he's been taught to squash all that down in order to have control and be powerful.." Rachel said, "and ironically he represents a very similar thing for her because she views the capitol as disorder and he views the districts as disorder. And when we were approaching our scenes together it was mostly for me at least, what percentage of her doubts, what he's saying to her right now on this given day, because she doesn't really know for a majority of it. The first thing that happens between the two of them is the guards say that he wants to help her but he also gets money so which is it, he say both. There is an unbridled honesty to a certain extent that makes you want to root for them, but the reality is that both of them are very much team self-preservation and survival" Rachel said, "I'm also team LOVE, BUT.." kzread.info/dash/bejne/qWeCtKx9cq2vnbg.htmlsi=wZFAAqgBNy8PGbbu

Tom said, "Coriolanus at this point in his life is still relatively innocent, he's not undergone the kind of transformation to become future president of Panem and future tyrant. He is at this point in this story is still a cousin/brother to Tigris, a grandson to his Grandmom, he's still got love in his heart he's not lost hope yet. And for me that was so interesting about playing him, getting to lift the lid and kind of look at him before he undergoes that transformation....." This is not about defending, but this is a tragedy of humanity. A downfall of the natural goodness that was born into us all. We became evil because of our choices, crossing that line. "What about his inner voice?" Talk about the inner monologue as if what we think doesn't come from something we see or hear, something we learn and process. There's always a reason why. Humans are complex creatures. This isn't black or white. It's not that simple. Yes, i agree his dark side always win. Dean Casca Highbottom hatred to him isn't helping, Dr. Gaul's influence, Grandma's words, "use her or you'll die like your father. Make your father proud" is etched on his heart.

This story accomplished in one film what the Star Wars prequels could not accomplish in three films: show a man's fall from grace. George Lucas may have come up with some good story ideas for the prequels, but he should have been self-aware enough of his failings as a screenwriter to turn those ideas over to a more accomplished screenwriter who could have given Annakin's story more depth and pathos. The story of Annakin turning to the dark side of the force has always felt rushed and completely unconvincing, even given three films to show the corruption of a man's soul. "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" did a masterful job of making me care for a man who had been previously shown in the other films to be pure evil; thus, it was able to make me wince at every corrupting misstep Snow made in his gradual darkening of the soul. As a major Star Wars fan, this is how I wanted the prequels to make me feel about Annakin's journey.

I think snow, even from the beginning had a bit of bad in him and it escalated later by the things that became access to him. It was slowly shown but it was obvious he’d do wtv he wanted w wtv consequences came so long as he came on top bc from the beginning it showed he idolized his dad, he wanted what his dad was and what his family status used to be and Tigris told him all she remembered of him was evil etc, casca made it clear his father was bad too and at the end when he came back dressed in red, Tigris says he looks like his dad. I also don’t think he truly loved Lucy bc Lucy was his way out of the slumps he lived in and a way to restore his family name like he always wanted and bc of that, I think he took a fixation on her and like some other person said, became obsessed. Everything he did was on his own free will

I just read the book, and I strongly believe Katniss maybe related to Lucy gray through Maude Ivory Baird a member of the Covey and the younger cousin of Lucy Gray Baird and Barb Azure Baird. Also there's mention that mostly everyone in District 12 had dark hair and Katniss's mom and sister both have blonde hair. There's also the aquatic plant that the Covey band feed on (katniss flower) and they would visit that lake and get it there.

No one knows what truly happened to Lucy Gray and Suzanne Collins wanted it that way, actually in the books Katniss says there’s only been two winners from district 12, one is Haymitch and the other one no one knows his name because Snow did everything in his power to erase him from existence. I actually like that they leave it as a mystery because Snow lives his entire life haunted by her, and she did came back to haunt him, it might not be really her but through another girl from 12 called Katniss🤍

I am a diehard fan of the first 3 books I can repeat them verbatim. Favorite character being Peeta. My first reading of the book was because my 14th wanted to see the new movie and told me it explained why Snow hated Katniss. First reading I didn’t see it because I could not get passed my hated of Snow. She told me I was wrong that it did so I read it again. Knowing that Peeta represented peace and rebirth and Gale represented war and destruction I paid more attention to Snow’s narration on Gaul (war and destruction) and Sejanus (peace and rebirth). Whereas Katniss started to understand what Peeta was saying and his point of view which began to change her views because of that understanding i.e. wanting to show the capital he was more than a piece in their game and doing everything he could to ensure her survival in the games Snow rejected Sejanus beliefs think himself better than Sejanus and Snow began to understand Gaul’s views and started changing to think all human’s when faced with things like war or an area would lose there humanity to save themselves. Katniss proved what Snow believed wrong untimely choosing to risk her life or die herself so that Peeta would live when faced with something like a war or an area. Similar to Katniss distrust of Peeta and not being sure if his feelings were transactional or genuine during the first book Snow could not determine if Lucy Gray’s feelings were transactional or genuine. Katniss however eventually trusted Peeta had genuine feelings and around the Quarter Quell Katniss became aware of her own. Whereas Snow did not come to trust Lucy Gray’s leading to what may or may not have happened to her. Hence Snow seeing the star crossed lovers’s routine and becoming obsessed with destroying Katniss. His obsession he admits to being his fatal flaw that would lead to his downfall. Even when Snow realizes Katniss loves Peeta he can not give up that obsession due to his own relationship with Lucy Gray and sets out to use Peeta has his means of destroying Katniss. Would have loved to see Snow’s salty reaction to Katniss and Peeta once again not being able to kill the other one then growing back together and building a life together. Ultimately at the end of the trilogy it turns our Katniss was a girl so in love with a boy she would rather die eating those berries then live without him proving Snow wrong

Lucy Gray Braid is possibly Katniss’ second cousin twice removed. If you read all 4 books it’s implied in the writing that Lucy Gray’s cousin Maude Ivory Baird the blond girl who sings Keep on the Sunnyside is Katniss’s paternal grandmother. Lucy Gray wrote the Hanging Tree and only performed it once with no recording. Lucy Gray says Maude Ivory can memorize any song after hearing it once which Katniss admits to being able to do when talking about her father teaching her the Hanging Tree in Mockingjay. So in order for Mr. Everdeen to know the Hanging Tree he would have had to learn it from his mother Maude Ivory. Mr. Everdeen was a known singer with a beautiful voice who could make mockingjays fall silent so he was more than likely born Covey. The Covey knows of the house on the lake that was Katniss’s special place with her father and the Covey called swamp potatoes Katniss. The Covey naming convention means you are named after a color and a ballad so it is theorized the for unknown reasons Everdeen was originally Evergreen and was changed. Evergreen is a ballad from a Star is Born which includes the line “Like a rose under the April snow”. Lucy Gray is an old English ballad about a little girl disappearing in a snow storm.

I think the movie is badly written and the actress of Lucy Grey is abhorrent.

Hunger Games: The Musical is the worst thing I’ve seen in awhile. The actors/directors are fine but the material was garbage.
