Al Capone would call a meeting of all the syndicate families and meet in TH at The Terre Haute House. That's why 7th and Wabash is known as the crossroads of America because of the easy highway access back in those days.

"Have a drink after work", just what T.H. doesn't need is another bar. T.H. is also known as the one city in the US with the most pot holes. TH has been notorious for fixing things cosmetically but NEVER touch the older neighborhoods. So9 many factories have shut down there over the years and not ONE politician has ever done anything to retain any type of industry or bring in new industry. TH is a hotspot for gangs and drugs. They have not developed any kind of mass transit to really serve the citizens. After the '80's, mass transit was downsized and has all but dwindled away to nothing. The Vigo County school district has one of the high dropout rates in the country and one of the reasons is there is no place decent for young adults to work at and to be able to afford starting a new life and family. There is nothing there to encourage young adults to stay. The poverty level is super high.
