A Mongolian biyelgee is always a joy and particularly needed for a proper wake !!! For those who are unfamiliar, a "biyelgee" is a traditional Mongolian dance, originally designed to be performed inside a round, tent-like ger (= _yurt,_ in Turkish). Musicians make up the center, and the other invitees form a circle along the outer edges of the ger, either sitting or standing. All of the guests then move together, mostly in concert and in a manner that reflects the lyrics for any given song. Because of a ger's space limitations, motions are constrained, with the hands and arms used to imitate the motions of Mongolia's great hunting eagles or other flying birds, horseback riding, archers in action, etc. (A biyelgee has comparative similarities to the stylized Hawaiian hula dancing.) Another great biyelgee was performed to The HU's "Wolf Totem" in 2019 --- a sort of flash mob gathered on the plaza in front of Government Palace in Ulaanbaatar. I'm not Mongolian but Celtic and Nordic style music does the same for me. Most people have completely forgotten their origins or try to ignore it. We should always embrace our heritage. There is a very interesting sentence in the book "Secret history of Mongols" (written in 13th century) The beginning part mentions about Mongols and Genghis khans ancestors. It is kinda mythological. But there it is mentioned that ancestors crossed "oceans and sea" and settled around river Onon ( Mongolian river. Still has the same name till this day). It is very intriguing because it says Mongols came from far away place crossing the sea... So what if it was the other way around? Some tribe travelled from America back to Eurasian continent and settled there maybe? Why would author write such things. Maybe "ocean and sea" is added just to give a mystical background to Mongols?

I feel like wolf totem was what we all expected, what the world expected of the Mongols, probably even what they expected of themselves to be honest. And it is a very good song. But, this new era of music shows us the true range and spirit of that people I think, so full of passion and life!

​@@wildcardgal 76 here. I love all kinds of music and have lots of "world music" on playlists. I discovered Mongolian throat music a couple of years ago, and alway keep my eyes open for more variety. When I stumbled onto The Hu, I was blown away. Throat music, and Hu's work, touches me in ways lots of other music, although very enjoyable, does not. It's like the beats, and rhythms, and guttural throat sounds reach down inside. Although I'm an artist and a wee bit unconventional, but generally fit into the "white grandma" crowd. My friends don't understand my love for this stuff. I just kind of keep it to myself if there's no excitement from others after one or two tries to get them interested.

OK this explains a lot. My native American ancestors (Muskogee) did a stomp dance and so much of their attire looks native American too. Is this why I'm attracted to it. I mean I learned that Asian people came over to the US from Russia so it all makes sense.

Зачем тебе манджурский язык? Этоже мертвый язык! Монгольский язык великий язык, великого народа! НельзЯ изучать историю человечество не изучив историю монголов. Потому что монголы слишком много и часто коренным образом влияли на историю человечество со времени Хунну, 😂 именно протомонголы Хунну развалили Римскую империю, потом через полторы тысячи лет в 13веке завоевали весь континент Евразию. Между этими событиями монголы умудрились создавать 6 Великих империи последная была всем империем ИМПЕРИЯ! 😂.

@@wolfhaven9312 Nahh nothing. Just messing with you. I know you are a woman and you truly admire them as musicians as well as MEN. I think what makes you truly drawn to them is the authenticity and very similarities between your Apache people and us Mongols though. The funny side is you’ve got hots for each of them even the actor now 😂. By the way that guy is well known stage and movie actor as well as producer and singer. He is from my hood where I spent my childhood. And he was our assistant teacher at summer camp in 1998 I think. And yeah he is a really cool and handsome guy. Got that classic Mongol warrior vibe.
