The HSP (Halal snack pack)

The HSP (Halal snack pack) french fries, doner kebab meat, BBQ sauce, garlic sauce and grated cheese.
No recipe for this one because you probably shouldn't make it at home… it’s just never as good as it is at 2am eaten on the street talking to some stranger about their ex and how much they hate their job.

@@heytherebatohe said Dutch, not ethnic Dutch, since the 70ies many Turkish people live here. And his comment was not about the kebab which of course is not Dutch, but about this specific way of serving it. The story goes there was a hairdresser (a hairdressers shop is called kapsalon in oldschool Dutch) in Rotterdam who, on a regular basis, asked his next door kebab shop to make him a dish consisting of fries, kebab, lettuce, grilled cheese on top, garlic sauce and hot pepper sauce. The kebab maker would write on the package who it was for, (KAPSALON) and other customers started asking for that same thing, hence the name this dish goes by here in the Netherlands. (Whether this is a superwell crafted urban myth or a true happening I can't proof either way, but there you go) ✌️

The Döner kebab was invented by turks in Berlin. This version with fries cheese and chilli sauce is not kapsolon. The thing Andy made is a British commonwealth food. Could have originated in the UK or Australia. Dutch food is terrible anyway 😂 stroopwaffle is the only good food to come from the Netherlands.

What you can also do is after you take it out the freezer, you can cut thin slices while still frozen. That way you can cook the slices on a pan with little oil and will feel like a döner

Well chef, actually, if meat is included, we have to first know how was the animal was cut before we consider it Haram or Halal. Soo I guess, we can't really know about that, for me, it's safer to stay away from animal processed food and prefer the vegetarian menu once going abroad.

That's essentially a 'kapsalon' (hairsalon) in the Netherlands. In a tinfoil container it's french fries with loads of shoarma or kebab on top, sauces over that (garlic and spicy), cheese and a salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sometimes some red onion) The history is that a hairdresser would order a shoarma platter in the early 2000's (which is shoarma, garlic sauce, a hotsauce, side of fries, and a small salad) on busy week nights, but all mixed together so it was easier/quicker to eat. The 'it's for the hairsalon' got shortened to hairsalon, because regular order and other people would see it ander order the same thing. So if you're ever in the Netherlands: El Aviv in Rotterdam is the true original birthplace. Nowadays it's one of those late night, had too much to drink- foods. When you're sober, it's so gross you have to love it, but when you're drunk, it's like a warm hug.
