The How and Why you should rotate your tires
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
2 Minute Tuesday: If you want your tires to last you should consider rotating them ever 5,000 - 10,000 miles. Why might you ask?
Different tires get different amounts of abuse, and none of it is good. Your front tires take the most punishment, especially if you have a front wheel drive vehicle.
1) The majority of the weight is where your engine is
2) The front gets more force under breaking
3) The outside tire travels farther than inside
All of these factors lead to uneven tire wear. Rotating your tires will average the wear out between all the tires and make it as even as possible.

I’m a 23 year old guy and I was told the wrong way lol next oil change I’ll follow this video. Thanks for the info bro!
Great video very nice explanation. I do a 5 tire rotation on Monstro so my spare matches my others and I don’t have to put a new spare on with worn out tires and have a major mismatch in tire size. Killer stuff . Samantha?????
Love your videos.

Thanks for taking the time out of your day to comment. Hopefully you get to rotating the tires this weekend :)
I have a Chevy Silverado z71 with nitro ridge grapplers. Which rotation should I use? Sorry I'm kinda slow and had a hard time following along with this video although I'm sure you explained it perfectly. Thanks.
Great stuff

Thanks, hope it helps
It was a while back the DR went to DF & never criss crossed tires because it broke the belts in the tires ?? So I can take Dr & move it to Pf & DF to Pr ???
Swapping the tires this way makes more sense but according to my 2007 4runner v6 4x4 manual, it says to just swap front tires to back like you mentioned for directional tires. Not sure which way would be better though

If they are directional and not radial then you would need to only move them from the front to back on the same side. Because if you swap sides it will turn the direction from front to backwards
So for a 4x4 3rd gen 4runner which of the 2 patterns you showed should I follow?

The majority of 4Runners are Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) with an optional part-time 4 wheel drive. I am not really familiar but I am sure there is some All Wheel Drive (AWD) version out there as well. Not knowing what you have but knowing that the RWD/AWD works for both that is the option I would choose. What really matters is that you swap the tires the same way every time.
Just in time, meant to do my 1/2 ton yesterday with the Good Year Duratracs. Never bother with the spare, just watch the inflation . . . easily missed!

Most tire shops won't work on a tire that is over 6 years old. Sometimes tow companies won't even place that tire onto your rig if it's too old. If you have a full-size spare I would put it in the mix. If anything it would prolong the need to buy tires.

That's an important consideration that I've never thought of before. Where we live above the 50th parallel there is winter (with a capital W lol). And there's salt on the roads. So having a nice rim on your spare isn't the best idea. Think I'd rather just replace the tire lol. If I ever go with the rear mounted spare on my 4Runner will at least be able to take better care of it.
How many times can you rotate the tires?
When I was a kid, we would rotate the tires every other oil change. That was WAY before computers and apps to remind you to do it. haha

That is a good way to remember. I like to do it ever two oil changes, but I am sure I have forgotten a time or two. Ever oil change would be much easier :) Thanks for taking the time out of your day to comment.
You did the example for the fwd/awd on your truck?? Isn't it a rwd?

Yeah, mine is. It works the same as fwd
The only thing I’m confused about is why do you put the Driving Tires straight up or straight back without flipping them? Why don’t you flip all four tires?
@SnailTrail4x4

Because your not rotating them around your vehicle that way. When you swap the tires out the next time they will go right back to where you took them off previous. Your way: 1st rotation drivers Front goes to passenger rear. 2nd rotation drivers Front goes to to passenger rear (same spot) So adding the strait back or forward makes them go completely around the vehicle... 1st rotation DF goes to PR 2nd rotation PR goes to PF 3rd rotation PF goes to DR 4th rotation DR goes to DF All the way around getting even ware
