THE HOUSTON EXODUS & Why I’m LEAVING Houston Texas with So Many Others

Welcome to this video where I'll be discussing why so many people are leaving Houston, Texas and moving to the suburbs.
Houston has been a popular city in Texas for quite some time. However, over the past few years, there has been a significant shift in population from urban areas towards suburban neighborhoods.
So what is causing this trend?
With the growing population and limited public transportation options, commuting into downtown can be a nightmare for many residents. In this video I will be discussing the reasons behind people leaving Houston, Texas like quality of life plays an essential part. People prefer quieter communities with better schools systems & fewer crowds compared to busy metropolitan cities like Houston.
These factors combined make suburban living more attractive than ever before for those who want affordable housing options without sacrificing proximity or convenience. Watch the video till the end if you're considering moving out of Houston's overcrowded urban areas then consider exploring one of its many beautiful suburbs!
I hope you find this video helpful and love it. Please feel free to drop your thoughts and questions in the comment section below. I will be more than happy to answer them all.

When I was a kid it took me about 4 hours to drive from Austin to Houston. Then it took 3.5 hours. Then it was 3 hours. Then 2.5 hours. Now closer to 2 hours. Because... everyone is always 'moving to the suburbs'. The city keeps expanding, like a giant, never ending suburb where the same chain stores are on repeat every 10 minutes.

I’ve lived in Houston on and off for my entire adult life, I was a Sunday School teacher and an engineer here, I owned a an award-winning nightclub here, and a whole lot of other stuff, over the years. I’m leaving in a few weeks with no intention of ever returning. I’m leaving primarily because a lot of things in Houston were forgivable (heat, traffic, etc) because it was cheap and the people here were friendly. Now, it is no longer cheap to live here, and to me it now feels substantially less-friendly. The cherry on top is that we now have a Mayor who has shown just how he feels about human-scale, walkable places and public transportation. I’ll leave this place to those who would rather, apparently, drive an hour to get to work, then drive to a strip center to get groceries, then drive to the gym to stay in shape. But hey: look at all the money you save, right?

I’ve lived in Webster for 10 years. It’s in Harris County. It’s considered the suburbs. Well about 2 1/2 to 3 years ago people have started to flood into our state. This has driven up the prices of homes. These people think our houses are a bargain. When they sell a house in California for a million dollars a mere 4-5 sounds like a great deal. Unfortunately, those of us who are from here cannot afford the price hikes. We are also seeing prices increase on land in the outskirts. Acreage is getting higher. They are doing so much development that even if you buy land in a “rural” area, it’s going to soon be built up. My property taxes has doubled in the past 2 tax seasons. Not cool! I still make about the same and cannot afford this. Many people are struggling to get by nowadays with high inflation and the prices on everything get higher and higher. Understandably, a real estate person needs to make money. No problem. However, to those of us from Texas it has been a hardship with all these people coming in. Now the traffic is getting congested even driving to Galveston! My husband works on the island and he’s experiencing rush hours now! Houston is not what it used to be. This is sad to those of us who love Texas!

Oh I love my Texas! Born and raised! Unfortunately the inflation in this country has much more to do with our leadership than it does with people moving to Texas. One thing to know is they can’t raise your value more than 10% annually. It’s a state law. So make sure you fight that!

My wife said she’s getting ahold of you on Monday. We are considering moving out of the Midwest off acreage and into the burbs. We need A rated schools near some woods and fishing. We live on 15 acres but have 200 acres of farmland. It’s unfortunate it’s all in southern Illinois where deer are big but the laws are too blue for us. We work from home so no issue there but I need to be in Texas not Illinois. Schools being the most important. I know that you can’t speak on schools but is there somebody that you can point me to that can? Like a friend of yours that isn’t legally restricted to do so but also knows all the skinny. We are in for a culture shock I know, I had 19 people in my graduating class. So we are used to real slow country life. We just want more and better for our three girls. I was in the Army for a long while so I have been around. My poor wife has never left this crappy area. Family is the only reason I came back after the Army. Absolutely, I live in Montgomery for the last 19 years and I can tell you that Montgomery became so diverse last 6 years or so. You can see here people of all color and faith these days. Just little congested lately, so many people moved here :-) But you can still find some pockets of quietness in some places.
