It’s interesting that no one knows who originally wrote the lyrics to the song as it goes back many decades and some variations. Also the bass player for the animal s Chas Chandler acquired rights to the song unbeknownst to his fellow band members . Talk about back stabbing. Chas Chandler is known for producing Jimi Hendrix first album

I was 14 in 1964 ….every Friday night in the small town I grew up in had a dance at the Youth Center. Back then all the dances were live bands…..no DJ’s. This was a popular song and all the girls hoped for that special boy to ask them to dance to this song. 😊😊😊😊😊
