The Hotel Portmeirion - We Want Information…Information..."You are Number Six!"
Who is Number One? You are Number Six.
Actually, our room at the Hotel Portmeirion didn’t have a number, it was the Peacock Suite.
If you have never seen the 1960s TV series ‘The Prisoner’ filmed in Portmeirion, you probably don’t have any idea what we’re talking about.
Anyway, back to the hotel, The Hotel Portmeirion which is on the waterfront in the pretty Italian influenced village of Portmeirion in North Wales. The village was designed and built by the Welsh architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis.
We spent one night in the Peacock Suite and had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
The Peacock Suite was created by Williams-Ellis for Edward VIII's stay and Noel Coward wrote Blithe Spirit in the Fountain Suite.
In Portmeirion, the GateHouse was stayed in by Brian Epstein, The Beatles' manager, while George Harrison spent his 50th birthday in the village.
Despite the Welsh weather, we did have a good stay at the Hotel Portmeirion and the village is well worth a visit.

it's great, isn't it! we treated ourselves for a stay, during a Prisoner Convention weekend. What a thrill, actually driving into the village. Many of the guest celebs were staying there too. We enjoyed the comlimentary sherry in the room and also the high standard of dining . Absolutely lovely place. The village is just so beautiful and quirky. We've been to Portmeirion for visits maybe 8 times in 10 years..? But, i'm glad we treated ourselves for the hotel proper!

Yes it is great. Sounded like a really good convention weekend. We treated ourselves after the winter in lockdown.
The food looked fantastic! I was there 25 years ago..They have. a decent chef at last.-). It always rains there... Excellent work BTW. This shows things how they truly are.

A few days after our visit it was warm and sunny. Although, we still had a good time.
I could have watched that for a lot longer, that was awesome! Thank you for the lovely tempo, delivery and stunning shots 🤸

Beautiful hotel,shame about the weather.Room looks grand and the food excellent.I have been there but not inside the hotel.

The stay was good although the staff were a bit disorganised, I think many were new and the place hadn't long reopened.

So if you stay at the hotel are you allowed to free roam the village whenever you like? I'd love to see what its like at night.

Yes, that's right.
I love the decor of that place. And did you say leek a laverbread sausage?? I would definitely try that! It is too bad about the weather but you can't control it! In normal times I prefer when the weather isn't amazing but the place is less crowded anyway.

It was a great place to stay. It is currently booked up until October. What is good is that the gardens and village are only open to the public during the day. In the evenings, only the hotel guests can visit so it is nice and quiet.
i remember being in the village during filming of the prisoner, they had me dress like him too and called me number six. i dont think they used that episode
Hotel and food looks nice. Shame about the weather.

Well, it is Wales. It can rain like this anytime of the year!
