I was impressed with Huckleberry's story. How he was brought in, to the emergency vet where you worked, with a badly broken leg. He was needing expensive surgery his owner couldn't afford, so it was for euthanasia. Instead you bought Huck from his owner and got him all the care he needed. What amazing compassion you have for critters.

I'm 65 years old and never Even conceived of the fact that grass could have sugar in it. You're amazing!. Thank you for teaching me so many things. Even though I don't have any horses, only cats!

Sugar = energy, how else does a horse get it! They have to eat a LOT of it, also to get enough protein as they don't eat meat. Cats are almost the exact opposite! Cats are obligate carnivores and can't taste sugar!

​@@feiryfellaNot all horses can eat a lot of fresh grass, especially in the spring. They can get laminitis which is an extremely painful foot condition. That is why Nigel is in the dry lot and why she waited until the spring grass had grown out a bit before turning the horses out.

@@feiryfella Cats eat grass too. But for a few different reasons. The most popularly held notion is to help with removal of fur they ingest when cleaning; but I've also noticed that their litter tray droppings smell a lot less after chomping on some grass. I offer couch grass to them once a week usually. I suspect, when feral, they consume small amounts of grass to decrease their feces' smells so that predators don't track them as easily. Liquid chlorophyll, from plant matter like spirulina etc. in human foods and drinks, drastically reduces human body odour, eliminates it almost entirely, so that one doesn't even need deodorants.

Any time you see "-ose" in a biochemical breakdown of something, it means a sugar. Fructose in fruit. Cellulose in grass and similar "greenage". Glucose in various human type foods. Sucrose in cane sugar.

Do you ever hear your mother’s voice when you say things like Huckleberry “loosing his privileges” and getting a time out in the truck “to think about his behavior”? 🤣🤣 Tiny is so funny. She truly knows her job is to run the whole place - or so she thinks. She really keeps an eye on everything and lets you know about it! I look forward to each and every one of your videos and learn so much. Thank you clever cowgirl!

Poor Skeletor, he just wants to be his goofy self. He's like the class clown.

Watching this video makes me wonder how horses, with the potential sensitivity to grass sugar, allergies etc and nobody watching over their health in this way, ever survived as a wild species.

I love the way you monitor diets so carefully and individually. I don’t have a lot of experience with horses but in dogs and probably with cats, I don’t generally like senior foods because the filler they put in is usually junk.

Thanks for another super interesting video and updates. The music was great. It's fun to see how the horses run back into the dry lots for food. Nigel needs so much patience. Yes, I would do the same, his floppy stallion neck, could be a bit to heavy for him to carry about. He would look more comfortable with.
