The Horseman of Mount Everest: Life of A Special Sherpa | Full Documentary
Gurmen, a sherpa known for his high-altitude skills, lives in Nepal's Himalayan valleys at 4,000 metres. Every day, he must contend with the dangers of the mountain and its risky environment. He has a brave plan to acquire a trained horse and hire it to visitors, as he hopes of a brighter future.
He must first travel across the nation, purchase a horse named Karma, and return it in good health to his community. Karma and Gurmen encounter individuals who live, work, and explore at high elevations, where mistakes and mishaps can have major repercussions, along their journey. We learn about the exceptional fate of a man who has profited from the hiking and tourist industry in this part of Nepal thanks to his ambitious attitude.

Nepal is heaven. 🗻 This documentary was shot around 2007/2008 I think.
The strength and hard work of this man are impressive. Very good that part of his daily life is to do charitable deeds. I wish him and his family, and his village, well. Loved seeing this fascinating place I’ll never be able to visit. These documentaries are wonderful!
I am from Nepal, The documentary is exceptionally inspirational, The life of hilly region is so harsh as shown on the video. May lord be with KARMA and Germain
Wonderful documentary! The film-maker portrays Gurmen, the Sherpas and the Buddhist culture with extraordinary sensitivity and respect. The Sherpas are among the toughest people in the world and their concern for fellow human beings as well as animals stands out. I wish the best for Gurmen and his lovely family.
I wish his family all the best and hope he is very successful.
I simply cannot express how brave and incredible these people are. Truly the Angels of Everest.
This young man is an example of a the will, faith, hard work and spirit of the entrepreneurs that keep this beautiful world running. God Bless him and his horse.
Blessings to Karma and Germain and his family! This is an inspiring story and shows the progress of Nepal and her people.

Another beautiful place I will never see. I am so glad to be able to see these beautiful lands and people on the internet ✌
I would not be able to walk on the edges, with 200 metres ravines below, and certainly NOT on a horse back. Those who meet the Sherpas, please be kind and generous to them. Their life is so hard and tough, yet they are simple gentle souls.
I can't believe this dude running everywhere. No wonder they are animals when it comes to climbing this dude is a beast with the bounding energy of a teenager. I wish he and his wife all the best
38:29 wonderful drawing! What lovely children..so gentle.
This documentary makes me so nostalgic to go trekkin thru the Himalayas again, one day soon I hope 💚
Wow,wonderful, thanks for Charing ,and I'm new in your channel ,from Morocco 🇲🇦

Thank you for inviting and sharing with us 🍀 Truly wonderful 🌿
Thank you for your Documentary of khumbu region, Nepal!💗
Thank you Tracks for allowing us to see the difficult lives people in other lands lead, but yet, they can still be content and happy. Here where I live, one cannot imagine the lives of Nepali Sherpas. All the best to Gurmen and his family in their endeavours. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
Gherman the himalayan Mountain runner!! WOOO go buddy
Immersive film that shows the culture and dangers of daily life in the mountains.
Oops every new video is always better than previous Thanks for the adventure that you offer us! Keep going your wonderful effort!!!!!

Holy totally different way of life, very good documentary!
Thoroughly engrossed in the documentary. Very educating about the lives of the Nepalis
He could win the marathon race that lasts for days.

This is an interesting video. Thank you.
when I was there in 2010 I was at all those places in the video, brings back memories of splendid views and happy people. Did see a few people being taken back down on horseback with oxygen bottles and older folk that could not go anymore, I was 55 at the time, not sure I would be as fit now.

Well done, however when I first began living and working in the Langtang and Khumbu regions in the late-90s there were horses (not to be confused with the donkeys and mules that were also already there) that were hired by tourists for both carrying gear as well as riding. Still, this is a well-done documentary.

@@adamlangdon2245 Yes. There are many in the Khumbu and it would be almost impossible for anyone to get away with animal abuse - at least with equines and bovines. Sometimes some might be a little short of feed (but not without), but I never see any in bad shape. Mules are in excellent shape.

Totally agree. His lack of horse care is astonishing. To take a horse to a locatiion thousands of kilometers from veterinary care (such as it may be) is, in my view cruel. Who is going to re-shoe the horse?
I sure hope they find good hay for Karma!
Outstanding documentary. I am interested to know why burros aren’t used rather than horses.

what's the name of the track at the end? It is also at the beginning.
The horse doesn't look like it has horse shoes. The Vet. told him that SHE NEEDS MORE than STRAW, SHE NEEDS CEREAL. She is in POOR Health, WHY did HE PUT the Horse to WORK right away?!?! He doesn't bring her ENOUGH FOOD For the Long Trip, THEN SHE IS FORCED TO CARRY A MAN DOWN THAT Mt. 📌 The Wild Horses Look Healthy and the Fur look shiny and beautiful. 📌

I feel for the horse who is thousands of kilometers from veterinary care should she need it. If she has shoes, who in a remote village is going to re-shoe her and take care of her feet?
I can't wait to see how he gets that horse home, because he flew there
According to the ending, this documentary talks of life for the Sherpas 18 years ago. Wonder what happened to the characters shown here ever since. What changes might have happened. Wow
A good horse to ride to school on
They are a very nice looking couple.
Between the horse and the donkey is the crossbreed sterile hybrid, the mule. As we go from horse to mule to mammoth donkey (donks come in all sizes) we find an increase in intelligence, longevity and a great increase in caution, AKA, stubbornness. As the handler proves his trustworthiness to the animal, the animal's trust increases. That is why the high Andes are now often patrolled by mules, on the high border between Chile and Argentina. As for Icelandic horses, for the last 800 years if they were not sure-footed, well tempered, strong, fast, thrifty keepers, and smooth riders, they were eaten. This bred a compact, fast, smooth, strong, thrifty horse, ideal for this work. If I could drop 50 years from my body, I would breed Icelandic mares to Mammoth Jacks (big donkeys), and just as Geo. Washington and Henry Clay did in our own land 250 years ago, a Mule industry would be born in the Himalaya. Domesticating and hybridizing the Tibetan Kiang would be an very worthy consideration for the future of these people. If it is successful, call the offspring a "King Mule!"

I think it’s cos they’re reshowing an old documentary like, cos this channel is part of a group of channels containing documentaries going as far back as the 90s at least, some I think are even from the 80s, it’s mainly what I sometimes call a “stock documentary” site, cos it looks like those documentary databases people use to sell films to broadcasters (sometimes even selling them to people who quite appallingly edit them to fit an agenda, happened with Attenborough’s Life of Mammals by the BBC in the Netherlands, where it gold sold to an evangelical channel, Attenborough went ballistic and the BBC pulled it from Dutch showings (they removed all references to evolution, Attenborough is a staunch anti-creationist)), so this is probably a very old documentary that they don’t even show on television, let alone streaming sites, it’s probably why it’s on here
Good documentary, yes. However, I am astonished anyone would even contemplate taking a horse on such journey to a place where there is no immediate veterinary care or blacksmiths. Poor horse.

The horses are quite strong, so they can survive the conditions (as long as they're given food and water).

16:07 i dont understand if hes a beginner related to horses why does he not hire a horse out and learn more and buy only when he knows enough. That would be the way we would do it in western countries. Like if i want to live in la dont simply move to la but visit for longer periods the place and get more experience.^^ By the way there are so many mountains here in eu, i think i will be busy climbing them for a while before looking at nepal.
