    @@zorrakas320it’s not still easy. There are way too many cameras and advanced forensics to put a homicidal suspect in custody. You look at the most “successful” and most infamous serial killers of all time, none of them are from the modern era. John Wayne Gacey (1972-1976) murdered 30 people before being caught. Jeffrey Dahmer (1978-1991) murdered 17 people before being caught. Ted Bundy (1974-1978) murdered 30 people before being caught. Jack the Ripper (1888) murdered five women before being caught. ---- The reason these kill counts are so high in such a little amount of time is because it was easier to kill and get away with it back then. Nowadays there are too many cameras. Even if you remain off camera, or are wearing a mask there’s too many ways to get caught. Evidence left at the scene will be analyzed by forensics and will get you caught immediately Cameras will identify you and get you caught immediately The biggest factor in my opinion is social media. Back then these people would kill and the only people stopping them were the police. Nowadays social media would be going crazy and millions of people would be aware of the killer. Not so stealthy anymore. --- Essentially it’s much harder to reign as a serial killer nowadays than it was back then.

  • @torgejh9189
    @torgejh9189Ай бұрын

    The story of how Crippen got caught is fascinating in and of itself. Basically, he boarded a ship in Belgium disguised as a pastor, while Ethel was disguised as his son. That ship's captain, Henry Kendall, who was a huge badass with very dramatic life story himself, got suspicious when he saw them kissing and started to investigate them all by himself. Once he was convinced it was actually Crippen, he called back to London and informed Scotland Yard about it. In the end, Dr. Crippen became the first ever suspect to be caught via using wireless ship-to-land communication. Absurd stories like that just don't happen anymore nowadays.

    The Crippens' home was rented. Previous tenants had been German medical students who had long gone home. It's been suggested that the remains, which were not of a complete body, might have been anatomical specimens brought home for dissection practice. As this was technically illegal and the specimens would quickly start to decompose without refrigeration they were hurriedly buried in the cellar. Also, a music hall singer who may have been Belle surfaced at some later point in America.

Kidding & giggles aside - I saw another feed where no one wanted to run into you at night in a forest either Mr. Ballen . . . . That really got a laugh out loud from me. And I thought to myself (at night) . . . me neither!!! Thank you for the entertainment - I like the subtle changes and the stories . . . I won't camp out in the forest without an RV or van - - - EVER ever Ever again. I had 3 friends disappear off the backside of Pikes Peak (the crags campground . . . around the first of July 2016 (with 3 dogs - a poodle, a pug and and pit bull) I slept in that forest that week that they dissappeared right below their campsight about 35 feet away with a creek inbetween us . . . Last time I set up a tent. My cat went out and stayed out for over an hour. I was worried and pissed at him for being gone so long. He was 14 years old but very smart intuitively. My hair was on end and I didn't understand why. He was a real warrior. When he came back, he would not allow me to sleep in the tent. He kept climbing over me and not letting me get comfortable. Once we got the bed roll and blankets into the car and locked ourselves in - he was okay and let down his guard and we both went to sleep and got a good night's sleep. I would find out the following week that my friends were gone and the Divide, CO police and forestry service told me that the weekend of the 4th of July that 6 campsites of people disappeared from the Crags campground on the west side of Pikes Peak leaving everything they brought with them at their campsite including vehicles and all camping gear. The police refused to make a report and I left with the total impression that the area I vacationed in as a child - was as corrupt and dark as it gets. I quit camping up there after 2016 - beautiful area - creepy things go down there in the mountains.

Lived in motels and my suv-which is currently not working and now has a boot on it because my registration just Ren out the end of January and I haven't driven it since the middle of January. I get my first paycheck this week and was planning on paying my registration as well as to get it fixed. It's too much on me as my adopted brother just died on Friday and I'm beyond stress because of other things and the boot on my car was my last straw so during my lunch break I watched this to take my mind off of things so I could calm myself down as I was in the middle of an anxiety attack. I know people are going on about Crippin fleeing like that seemed super guilty, and I can agree, but playing Devils' Advocate the other possibility of that whole thing was Crippin and Ethel deciding to sneak out of London because their reputations were completely and utterly ruined thanks to Belle's friends straight framing him for her death and essentially branding him in society as a heartless cheater (all while Belle had done the exact same thing to him and I refuse to believe that none of those good friends of hers knew about it) was better than attempting to stay. When a group like that charity chooses to socially end you, that completely destroys your career and everything as well. They probably figured that sneaking out would cause less noise in this scenario. I still think this guy killed someone, though. Either him, or Ethel did and he was trying to help her cover it up, even if it wasn't Belle that they killed.

    @@TheIceCube2148The house the Dr. Lived in was previously rented by medical students- it is very likely that they may have been practicing dissections/ operating techniques on stolen corpses. This was an extremely common practice at the time- so much so there were gangs of criminals going around exhuming recently deceased bodies from cemeteries and selling them to medical schools/ doctors for large amounts of money. It goes without saying that this practice was highly illegal, and a motivator for some ambitious but scared students to try to dispose of a body when it started to decompose.

    We don't know if he was put to death for something he didn't do. We only know that the remains they found were not his wife. Still seems likely that he was involved in the murder of the unidentified man since 1: the man had the same tranquilizers in his body that the doctor created at work. 2: the remains were discovered in his basement. 3: The remains were put there somewhat recently while he had been living there. Although encasing the remains in clay probably hindered the decay process, it isn't likely that they were put there years ago before he moved in. 4: He attempted to flee the country after being notified he was under investigation. He killed the man, and probably also killed his wife.

He could have fled after the initial visit from the detective because he knew they were trying to set him up and everything after is told through the perspective of Scotland Yard.

    His wife could have also done the murder, maybe he got his mistress as a revenge since she cheated on him so he showed the mistress off to her friends, he couls have tried fleeing because it seems like he did not like scandals, and an advertising for belle to return deffo stirs some pots. We will probably never know who did what and what their motivations were

    One theory is that he was performing illegal operations and the body belonged to a patient who had died during one of these. He couldn't get licensed to practice medicine in the UK because he wasn't a real doctor, so it's plausible that he might have been doing something like that under the table (and, since he didn't have actual medical training, that someone might have died). Generally people were thinking specifically of abortions, which wouldn't fit with the body being male, but it's far from established that the body was male because the sample was tested with an experimental technique. Another theory is that the police framed him because a) they believed he did it, they just didn't have evidence and b) they were facing a ton of public pressure to solve the case. Personally I think this one is more plausible, it has definitely happened before in other cases.

    Could it be that the body found was of the Boxer/lover that Belle cheated with? The one in the picture on the mantle? If so, then I figure that he could have easily disposed of her body. Or, after drugging her, he showed her his handiwork, then told her to be gone before he woke up. Not just out of the house, but out of the country or she'd be next.

    If it wasn't Belle's body, how come the birthmark on the piece of skin matched Belle's birthmark? Also, burying body parts in clay can delay the decomposition process. If Crippen wanted to escape the country after committing a murder, he could have bought some time to hide the smell. But overall details of this case just don't add up.

    Crippen might have killed both Belle and her lover and mutilated both bodies enough so they couldn't be identified. Also, how could a meek man like Crippen find his wife's lover? Maybe he hired a hit man and killed them that way.
