That's not new. Led Zeppelin alredy alredy wrote songs about the Lord of the Rings in 1971. Sabaton and Nightwish, for example also wrote some. If you like this kind of things, check out Nightfall in Middle Earth, Blind Guardian's concept album on the Silmarillion.

There was another band during the 80's and 90's called Cirith Ungol that did some Middle Earth inspired metal, too.

Skar is Dwalin, Dan is Kili. Just...imagine Dwalin and Kili singing in a metal band together.

Just a little story concerning this song for me. Last year, I travelled to New Zealand for the first time ever, fulfilling a life-long dream of mine to visit this amazing country. I did everything Lord of the Rings and Hobbit themed, visiting all the filming locations and more. And this song by you two brilliant men is what set me on my journey there! The whole drive to the airport and then on the plane, this song accompanied me. Most epic drive & flight ever! Thank you both! ❤🤘

This should have been the version used in the Movie!!!!!!!!! Awesome cover Guys! It fits perfectly because Dwarves are from Nordic Legend. The original song was composed as a Nordic folk song. So to turn it into a Nordic Folk Metal Cover seemed natural and it came out Awesome!!!!!

It has been a couple of years since I have listened to anything metal and thanks to this cover by Skar and Dan I think I will get back into it

Please do more covers together! This was phenomenal.

Anybody else get goosebumps? Both the original and this version of misty mountains is Epic. I imagine the original, being more spooky and mournful, as like the times when they are reflecting and feeling that deeply rooted homesickness. This version, being more fast paced, as the motivation theme song when they are fighting and racing toward their home.

I find it fascinating how people comment on this video and basically praises Dan as if he made the cover 😅 he’s fucking awesome without a doubt, but you basically directed the comment at him and then went on to say how much you like the cover as a whole when he in fact only sang a few parts.
