Bret and Shawn took this so seriously because they knew to alot of people this would be their introduction to the WWF. This game is what got me watching wrestling around this time and all of my friends were obsessed with this game. Great stuff!

WWF WrestleMnia: The Arcade Game needs to be remade under the name "WWE WrestleMania: The Arcade Game" with an updated roster, online play, downloadable content, no freeze-ups, a create-a-wrestler option, a create-a-move-set option and the ability to be compatible with arcade sticks.

I remember hearing a rumor that you needed to beat world champion mode and intercontinental champion mode with each wrestler and then you could unlock Adam Bomb. One thing you didn't mention was the arcade game had rankings and a login like NBA Jam did. So, I spent hours at the arcade with my login trying to beat each mode with all the wrestlers, I remember being at the very last match and finishing it and just so let down he did not show up... I felt like I had failed 😞

I just really enjoy Midway arcade games. They had a certain chaotic nature to their games that I don't think has ever truly been replicated. Whenever you throw some quarters into a midway arcade cabinet you're in for some pure sensory overload many modern games wish they could replicate! Even their sports games had a certain insanity to them! Speaking of, I'd love to see a video on Smash TV in the near future. Also, I don't know if anyone remembers it but The Grid was an excellent multi-player game in the spirit of Smash TV and even had the announcer guy from it! I've only played it once ever and apparently it's almost impossible to emulate! sad...

Pretty scary stuff, I bet that there's a lot more people with the virus, than only the ones tested, confirmed and reported about. They also shut down our local school district until further notice. This is Salt Lake City, Utah, btw, if you want to look it up.

@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries Interestingly enough this all sounds very similar what happened with Street Fighter The Movie The Arcade Game developed by Incredible Technologies for Capcom, made in 1995 and Jackie Chan' the Kung Fu Master & its revised follow up: Jackie Chan' in The Fist of Fire by Kaneko, also both made in 1995. All those games also used live action digitized sprites. Street Fighter The Movie the Game also had an actor that was supposed to show up on set to record. That actor was Greg Rainwater who played T-Hawk in the movie, but he too was difficult to work with and didnt show up at all. The games filming was also done in like 2 days during the filming of Street Fighter the Movie.; same with Jackie Chan the Kung Fu Master, which was recorded in Japan during the filming of Jackie Chan's movie: Thunderbolt. Jackie used actors and members of his stunt team from his movie to be characters in the game. Developer/publisher Kaneko even got to be advertised in the movie as they helped sponsor the movie in return for their request to Jackie to make a fighting game. The follow up game: Fist of Fire, was released to arcades that same year because gamers playing the first game, could not play as Jackie Chan as he was relogated to a boss character. Fist of Fire not only made him playable, but had three different versions of him each representing characters from three of his previous movies. Wheels On Meals, Operation A, and Drunken Master 2. To help promote the Street FIghter Movie game in Japan, Capcom put in a Japanese character named Sawada in the movie who was not a Capcom character but played a small bit in the movie as one of Guile's soldiers as a playable character. They also made one of Major Bison's soldiers a playable character called blade. Interestingly enough, it was rumored he was going to play as Fei Long but that didnt happen. Also interesting to note was Kylie Minogue, who played as Cammy in the movie, wore a video game costume accurate wardrobe for Cammy in the game (the green leotard one piece) which was not present in the movie. Ernie Reyes Sr, a Philippinan stuntman, (father to Ernie Reyes Jr who was in The Last Dragon/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Surf Ninjas) was not an actor in the movie, but he was used in the game to play as Akuma. For whatever reason (maybe bad rpublic eception to the arcade game as that version had some very over the top combo mechanics and finishers with some broken gameplay), Capcom made a home port of the game for the PS1 and Saturn, much like Midway did for WWE Wrestlemania, but instead of a direct port of Incredible Technologies work (who were a team of Western game developers), they instead took the game engine from Super Street Fighter II and just pasted the digitized actor sprites and backgrounds over it. The result was an odd makeover of Super Street Fighter II which just made people scratch their head and ask ('why? I could just play Super Street Fighter II then')'. Years later, Bandai Namco would do something similar with the PSP release of Dragonball Evolution, the game based on the badly received live action movie, which used the game engine for their previous DBZ PSP game: Dragonball Z Shin Budokai, and just made new 3Dc character models to replace the original ones and made them look like the actors from the movie. That didnt go over well either. Both Jackie Chan fighting games however never got a port to home consoles. Though with MAME emulation they can be played on PC and Raspberry Pi mini pcs. Also interesting note for both games; Both Street Fighter the Movie the Game (arcade version only) and Jackie Chan The Kung Fu Master/Fist of Fire actually had fatalities much like Mortal Kombat and Wrestlemania's one fatality from the Undertaker. Seems like both SF the Movie game , Jackie Chans the Kung Fu Master, and Wrestlemania (Undertaker only) were chasing after thar Mortal Kombat hype with fataiities. But of course as mentioned, this was not in the home console version of Street Fighter game because that used the Super Street FIghter II engine.

I always suffer from a rather sad twinge when I watch 80s and 90s era wrestling content, due to the fact so many of my childhood heroes never made it to my age 😔 They really did put everything on the line to entertain us, and sadly the industry chewed them up and spat them out. @@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries That's par the course for the Super NES. People rag on the Sega Genesis for having bad audio and generally muddier, darker graphics but the Super NES had a slower CPU and greater tendencies towards slowdown. The audio wasn't always better on SNES, either. Audio samples were limited by cartridge size constraints and the samples could be tinny if they were compressed too much. Out of all the console systems I've owned, I think the Super NES had the worst slowdown issues. There were also quite a few games that had to be scaled down on Super NES because of memory/sprite issues. The Super NES version of Samurai Shodown reduced the character sprites by over 50% and took out the scaling effect altogether I remember correctly. It was still better than the Sega Genesis which lost a character altogether but wow were the graphics small on the SNES port! This is coming from a guy who generally appreciated the Super NES more than the Sega Genesis! There were still entire categories of games that played better on the Sega Genesis for CPU performance reasons (sports games, side-scrolling shooters) and the odd dual-platform game (Earthworm Jim) that was better on the Sega Genesis. I liked most arcade game conversions better on the Super NES for the better audio and color reproduction but even those weren't 100% better knowing the SNES had 16-bit audio and a wider color palette. There an even better 16-bit console out there (the SNK Neo Geo AES) but it was so expensive and focused almost solely on arcade parts from the arcade version, the Neo Geo MVS. I like fighting games, personally, but wouldn't buy a system solely for fighting games. I like variety!

Great video! I loved this game. I remember playing it in the arcade and picking it up on PS1(I think, I know I rented it a few times at least) . It was one of the first games I bought when i got back into PS1 collecting around 2010-11. The I stumbled upon In Your House at a local Disc Replay for like 5 bucks CIB so I picked it up. Yeah, its flawed, but I did enjoy the kinda oddball roster. Gotta love that they put "The Hart Dungeon" as a level.

While Wrestlefest remains my favorite wrestling arcade game, I loved the speed and silliness of this one. Glad you mentioned the Icon, Sal Davita too! I gotta say, I don't usually care much for digitized graphics, but I think this actually looks really good. It seems a lot faster than in other games that use that style of sprites, and the more over-the-top animations/sprite manipulation really help sell everything better. I also like fighting games much more than "straight" pro-wrestling games (or whatever nonsense 2K considers a "simulation" that they've turned the WWE games into now), so I'm super interested in any games that seek to make them more like fighting games. Games like Def Jam Fight for NY, WWE Brawl, Saturday Night Slam Masters, etc. are my jam. I totally ignored this when this came out since I wasn't a fan of wrestling until the Attitude era a little later, but I think I have to hunt down the PSX port for my retro collection now!

I’m surprised that they didn’t use a cart or something to move Yokozuna to the back of the facility. As far as Razor and Doink goes, it doesn’t surprise me they were tough to work with due to their personal demons. And of course Bret & Shawn were good to work with they were on top of the card at that time and didn’t want backlash. Personally I would’ve love to seen Mr. Perfect (one of my faves) and Adam Bomb in the game.
