The History of Weathertop | Lord of the Rings Lore | Middle-Earth
Ойын-сауық
The ruin of Weathertop was a ghostly reminder of the lost glory of Arnor, for it had once been a mighty watchtower known as Amon Sûl. In this video we explore its location and history, from its early days under Elendil's rule, its fall at the Witch King's hands and the armies of Angmar, and the part it played during the War of the Ring.

Dear Robert Pettigrew Yes, I’d respectfully disagree with Yoystan on that point too. Amon Sûl is such a strategically important location & it’d be a waste to let it lie in ruin. Rebuilding it + adding a monument for remembrance of its history & the sacrifice of the forebears, would give Weathertop actual functionality on top of symbolic significance.

@@GeekZoneMT Thank you for your answer. Anyway, I am interested in all your video content. I'm always glad when something new of your channel is released.
I first read Tolkien at age 11, 42 years ago. Before CGI, before Internet. The world that was created by words on a paper always left so much to the imagination. It is wonderful to have someone such as yourself that has done all the research into the backstories and present it the way you do. You are doing such a great job.

I would expect weather too was left a ruin during the early 4th age, because it was a time of peace- no need to waste ones wealth in fortifications like that. I would hope they built more beautiful parklands and villages.
I never thought about that the way you just expressed it. I would have liked to have seen it restored but when you put it like that I think it looks better as a relic. I'm glad I don't live in the Middle Earth. I wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes. Even though people tell me I look like aragorn and I mean a lot of people. A strategic point like that for defense and the security of trade within the realm, I know history is important but a good and wise leader would preserve what artifacts they could for a museum and refortify that hilltop for the good of their people. More lives will be saved and lives more prosperous from a secure trade route then a powerful symbol like that

Not yet, though both will come eventually!
I want all of this to shine on TV or in the Cinemas! The story of Gandalf encountering the Nazgul at Weathertop the barrow whites and Tom Bombadil who I think should be played by Brian Blessed, Saoirse Ronan for Goldberry, The story of Angmar from the north. This is gonna sound really stupid but with the story of Gandalf escaping Isengard and reaching Weathertop before the Hobbits makes me compelled to see the War of the Ring in the third age shine as a TV Series. I'm wondering if it hurts to have Peter Jackon's Oscar winning trilogy fleshed out quite a bit, adding every important information that never made into the original films? What do you think?
Personally I couldn’t disagree with that one comment you made about that ancient ruin weather top and if anything I feel like it would be their solemn duty to restore it if not for the strategic value then in a manner of paying respect to their ancestors as well as having it as a monument to all those that died defending the lands against the forces of darkness as a way of paying tribute to their ancestors that fought and bleed against there enemies so that future generations could live to fight another day.
I'm the Witch-King, and I approve this video

Come on, give the fella a break. Like all other aspects in life & on this world, we can all love Tolkien’s work + adaptations in different capacities & depths of (canon) knowledge. In the famous words of Viggo Mortensen’s newly coronated King Elessar: “…that we may share in the days of peace...”
@ptitgavroche

@@simoncss1 And your point is? Where did you read my claiming that derivates can't be loved along with and as much as canon lore? Anyone can appreciate both - that much is clear. But if you're going to associate non-canon video game lore with Tolkien's work, then "big fan" isn't the proper term to describe yourself. My point stands.

Forgotten lore... nevermore
wait wait wait, I know that seemed like a really minor detail in passing but we all know Tolkien. Who was that warden that the three kings could agree upon to leave over this supremely dangerously powerful and insightful artifact in the literal middle of a war zone in a hotly contested location worth fighting over? Call me crazy and I don't know my lore all that well but could this warden be one of the Istari? They are about the only ones I think everyone could trust with something like this. Makes sense with how it left the place too.
