I took a trip to the American Football house and saw it at like 4 in the morning after a night of driving. Nobody seems to get it when I show them the picture but that trip to get there will always be one of my most unique memories.

I actually didn't know any of the band that appear in this video, and to me their names sounded pretty much made up on the spot whitout any serious effort involved. Which made me believe that this was a 2 minute parody of some genre, until I saw that comment around 1:57 mention Sunny Day Real Estate and I went "oh shit, they are real?!". Then I looked up American Football and the other bands on Google. I must say, this turned out to be an intense 5 minute emotional rollercoaster, thank you.

Didn't realize that Title Fight brought the shoegaze/ noise pop "wall of sound" to the midwest emo genre, but I noticed a lot of bands make that switch in the 2010's. Turnover is the one that comes to mind, but there are definitely more. Midwest emo kind of moved to the coasts in the 2010's especially in the Pennsylvania (Philly) scene.

It would be more accurate to say HUM changed the whole scene, their impact just took a decade and a half to hit in the form of Title Fight. They took emotional hardcore, crossed it with shoegaze, and Electra 2000 was the result. Title Fight just aped them for one song out of sheer love. So every change that happened to emo was really something HUM did long before Title Fight recreated their style for a song. Seriously go listen to Electra 2000, if you haven't before. Like right now. Should be in every 2000's melodic/emotional hardcore fan's collection.

lowkey i like shoe gaze. It does kinda bum me out that every band needs to have a shoe gaze song though. Never Before Seen, Never again found by Arms Length is an absolute banger of an album, but they have a song on there called "Family and Friends" and don't get me wrong I love that fuckin song, but it just feels the most off when I listen to that album in full. I guess I never chalked it up to Title Fight though. To me it was Turnovers fault but I still love them too. Edit: i made this before i got to the end. Thank you for mentioning Oso Oso that dude is insanely talented and I'm genuinely thankful to the universe for putting him on the spotify weekly recommended 5 years ago.
