The History of Massachusetts General Hospital

Massachusetts General Hospital, chartered in 1811, is the third oldest general hospital in America. From it's earliest days caring for Boston's sick and destitute to it's emergence as a global leader in clinical care and medical research, MGH holds true to it's mission first expressed by it's founders: "When in distress, every man becomes our neighbor."

My direct ancestor is one of the reasons why Roger Williams came out with The Seperation of Church & State that transcended down into our U.S. 1st Amendment in Danbury, CT in 1803.

Roger Williams as in Roger Williams University - Who bought his land from The Narragansett Tribe, and who prevented The British Royals from enslaving all those American Indian "Savages"as The British had called them in King Philip's War or The 1st American Indian War in 1675. Of course, The Story of Squanto was from The Patuxet Tribe of The Wampanoag Clan, and Chief Massasoit kept the peace until he died, However, Chief Massasoit''s 2nd son called himself King Philip. They attacked due to more and more settlers who arrived that encroached upon their land. The British did, however, enslave some of those Indians, and there were settlers who were''t part of Pilgrim's after The Fortune arrived from Scooby, England.

Paraphrased: "There had been a desire since 1797 to build a public hospital to provide medical care for the poor and disabled that would not turn them away for a lack of ability to pay." Wow! This country was built by extraordinary people. The things that they accomplished are incredible.

Pilgrims before those who gathered in Scooby England came from mostly Holland and Amsterdam where English Minister John Smith was from. Not the same person as Captain John Smith from Jamestown, Virginia.who came to know Pocahontas. English Minister John Smyth died in 1612, the same year Rev. Edward Wightman was burned at the stake in 1612. It was English Minister John Smyth's followers, Puritans, that set to convince other Puritans & Protestants to form a Pilgrimage called The Great Puritan Migration.
