Ойын-сауық

Started in the 80's as gross... balls this property has been resurrected a number of times by different companies, like Kid Robot, and is now as strong and popular as it's ever been.

I was lucky to work on the line when Art Asylum had design control of the line. So awesome to just say “can we make it grosser?” And have 4 people agree.

Nice! I was lucky enough to work at American Greetings in the late 90's and was one dept over from some of the people who concepted/created these toy lines. It was kinda sad how AG wasted a lot of their creative talent. The company matured and lost its vision and got top heavy, etc. There was some kickass stuff that never really saw the light of day. And, yes, i can still remember the smell of the foam used to make MadBalls. Pretty sure it was carcinogenic : p

I used to draw my own Madballs designs. Really wish I still had them! Funnily enough, I didn't even have any Madballs and still don't; just thought they were cool. :p
We used to play baseball with these. Unpredictable flight and bounce patterns made it more fun. 😆
The more I watch these videos the more I miss the 80s, and 90s. Worth the risk to keep watching these videos. Ironically while watching this video I just happened to come across and find my oculus ball.
Madballs are totally fantastic! I had a few of them as a kid and used them to cause lots of chaos and confusion. My friend Patrick had a few of them too! They were very cool. Parents didn’t like them much but they were always cool to me!
Mmmmmmm that smell of paint and foam brings back memories of MADBALLS!

I had a few of these. I also had an English teacher in high school who, if he caught you slacking off, would throw the eyeball one at you and yell "I've got my eye on you!". Jerk.
Had forgotten about these things. Had them, watched the vhs- parents hated it. Good memories!! Thanks Dan
I thought these were a fever dream. Holy crap they actually existed in my life.
Awesome as always but no mention of Mondos versions. They’re great, probably the best for sculpt and details and they’re even doing Christmas ornaments this year.
I had several of these! I love this walk down memory lane! Thanks :)
My cousin and I would play with these at my grandparents' house. I totally forgot about these. Thanks for this vid!

This is nuts! I was thinking about Mad Balls last week.
I for some reason, oh I was 10, that's it, collected the Star Madballs comic loyally. The jokes were just fourth wall breaking enough, the art wasn't cutesy, it just hit me at the absolute right time for lines like "Let's see if they like double doses of Horrible Halitosis!" .
I had one as a kid and man, y'all are making me feel old here!
I love this channel. It brings back so many nostalgic memories. So far, I owned the majority of toys featured here at one point or another during my childhood. 💓
this was a fun video to watch. thanks. Just last weekend I ran across the horror themed ones. Didn't know that themed existed. Horn Head is my favorite.
My brother bought me the Eyeball one for Christmas. It was my favorite gift that year out of all the stuff I got, and don't remember. But I remember that ball.
I had the generic Ugly ball, I could always count on my parents and for some odd reason Santa to get me the off brand.

There were a ton of "gross-out" properties out there back then. Like the Madballs knock-off Weird Ball Wrestlers, the controversial (in some parts of the world) Skateboard Smack-Ups, and possibly flying under the radar, a less freaky, more cartoony look at pro athletes called Sport Freaks.

I still have my VHS copies, but unfortunately I don't own a VCR anymore!
All I had of this line was a huge(really huge) pack of stickers that my Dad got from work. All of my elementary school years where decorated with werewolf and mummy on my books and stuff. I still have a VHS of titanic with madballs stickers covering jack and rose face.
I had so many of these. I remember that cyclops with the nose ring being my favourite.
I had a pair of Madballs sunglasses as a kid. I'm sure I had a ball or two as well, but can't remember that nearly as well. I know I played with them, but don't remember if they were mine. I still love the designs and wish I had a set of them today.
Not my favorite toy of all time, but you get a thumbs up for working in a Death Wish 4 clip! Bronson is the man.
I had a lot of these as a kid, I distinctly remember the various comics and also the soccer ball but I had most of the versions of the actual balls and the action figures.

One of my favorite toys and one of my favorite KZread shows...holy cow what a combo
I found the Mad balls movies when a child. Loved them.
You guys keep helping me what Toy-Line my toys came from... Like Madballs.
I’m just gonna give this a thumbs up before I watch it. Now I’ll go watch
Our Convention Fan Table at Farpoint 2018 featured some of my Battle Trolls (since Marscon 2019's theme was Faeries) and some woman picked up a flier because Trollclops reminded her of a Madball.

I won Crack=Head at a Hallowe'en carnival once...that carnival had great prizes, as it was at a school where the principal's husband owned a dime store and that first year they had the carnival, they gave away a lot of older toys that they had sitting there for years, of which Mad Balls was one such example. That was a good year...
I was Mad Ball mad. I had the balls, the comics, and a couple of the action figures. The action figures were pretty awesome. I'd say throwing rates a 3 normally, but at least 9 with Mad Balls.

And immediately after these came out they came out with mad balls action figures, as I vaguely recall the three wheeler trebuchet, that was actually fun throwing their heads at each other.

Loved MadBalls back in the day! Had a few of the balls and some of the head poppin action figures, lol. I haven't been able to grab any of the reboot stuff but might try. I seem to recall my sister having a plastic baseball bat as well with the madballs face on it.
I owned a few of these as a kid, so it was interesting that as I got older and got into the hardcore music scene that I found a band called Madball. Turns out folks, in New York hardcore scene gang lingo, a mad ball is a pool ball dropped into a sock and used as a weapon. True story.
Holy crap. I had *completely* put these things out of my head.
American Greetings made Ring Raiders, too? I'm impressed. Plus, can we get a History Of for Ring Raiders. I still remember the cartoon.
You never forget how hard those football and American football madballs were when you got a slap in the face from one. 🤣
I think I still have the comic books buried in my closet somewhere! I definitely still have two madballs still in plastic in there.
Madly rad vid!
This has made my morning
I am way too stoned to be watching this video right now because when I heard squirting balls I about lost my lunch laughing. I just can't right now I can't anymore I need to go get some air have a great day
I had one Madballs knock-off that i wish I could find more info about. Instead of nerf-like foam, it was kind of a soft vinyl or plastic material. It was blue and red in color, and kind of a zombie-like face. One of the eyes was coming out of its socket and I believe there was exposed brain as well. I had some of the proper Madballs as well, but I always wondered what knock-off series this soft plastic one came from.
i loved the madballs animated shows so damn much
I remember seeing similar toys that were just a bit bigger than marbles, this was in the early 2000s. I had one but I can't remember what they were. I clicked on this video hoping these were them but they only ever had these marble sized ones. It was around the same time Mighty Beanz were popular.
I loved these
Wasn't there also a second video game released on the Xbox 360?

Love madballs!!! Had a bunch of them and played madball dodgeball all the time! If you got pelted it didn't hurt as bad lol
I still have a madball from my childhood, im shocked that its brains and still sealed inside after this many years
You should do a history of Mattels Mad Scientist toy line from the late 80's. That was one of my all time favorite toylines as a kid.
Madballs are dope! Horn Head was my favorite and I got the Rollercycle that came with his headpopper action figure.
I watched that Madballs video hundreds of times when I was a kid haha
I remember they put me in some special class where we earned points to cash in for arcade tokens money or toys. This was my first prize and I loved it, thanks Andrea (my teachers) from shelburne vt
As a 80s kid with facial deformitys, I got the nickname Mad Ball. Bui its funny that other people outside MPS know that toy
I like that hoodie. It's like a cross between Mr. Rogers and Tom Holland Spider-man. They say the suit makes the man, perhaps, in this case, it's the other way around.
Bloody hell. I completely forgot about them. But when that "Escape from Orb" art showed up, I realised that I was seeing something that I hadn't seen in about 25 years
I always remember the mummy madball. They would always get chunks ripped out of them!
You know what would be a great video on the channel, the history of attack of the killer tomatoes, it was a movie and then animated series, kinda in the same way as toxic crusader.
I LOVED these! I wish they would reboot them full size instead of little in the recent years
I had an original series Mad Ball, the blue, bruised, stitched-up dude. Here is something that I've never heard anyone mention about this toy, is that... it stunk. Smelled like a cross between the grossest chemical smell you've ever dealt with and a corpse. Once I got older, I thought maybe they made it stank because the idea behind the toy was that it was supposed to be disgusting. But I just think it was a super-rank (possibly poisonous?) chemical makeup of the construction material or the paint they used (or maybe both together). Whatever the case, I'll always remember it was the worst-smelling toy I ever possessed. That toy-grade slime they had back then for similar, gross products was pretty rank also, but no other toy will compare to the stench of a freshly made Mad Ball.
These are similar in concept to somethings i had growing up. The ones I had were smaller bouncy-balls my dad called UglyBalls. The weird shapes made playing fun cause you couldn't predict the next bounce.
I had a couple MadBalls when I was a kid. We played baseball with them.
I might still have 2 Madballs masks. I loved Madballs back in the day
Why is it that I can remember there actually being an animated series for this? I don't know why, but I do.
@brandonpage7087

Sounds like a case of the Mandela effect.
I forgot akk about these things until i saw this. I have vague memories of seeing these things in the toy aisle as a kid but i never bothered with them. Weird cause they were right up my alley as i loved garbage pail kids.
I had the eyeball character, it deteriorated rather quickly but the knock-off cyclops Mad Ball I got at a local fair somewhere in Illinois back in '86 was made of thick rubber and lasted a lot longer.
Mad balls were so cool back in the 80s. Thanks for the video! Could you do Blackstar next?
i always see these now i do remember seein em back in the day but it died out a lil before my era.
I had the touchdown terror as a kid. Wonder if I still have it kicking around at my parents house.
I had the (original) eyeball. It was wedged between the center of the dashboard and windshield of my car, staring out at the road for years.
I had Screaming Mimi as a kid. I also seen the "Gross Jokes" video.
Anybody remember Slime Time? They were like Madballs, but they were watches. I remember the commercial so clearly and I remember seeing them at the store in the mid-80s. Maybe it was a Canadian thing, but I’ve never met anyone who knows what I’m talking about. Also, I remember having the Madballs comics, they were pretty good...
One Christmas I received the cyclops Madball, his action figure, an action figure of the original eyeball and a vehicle-a trike with a catapult.
I had almost all of them back in the day.
Holy shit. When i clicked on this video, my first thought was, "these were like if garbage pail kids and nerf had a baby.....and you totally (basically) said that!
I'm just here to ear Dan say "Balls" over and over again.
I had Slobulus as a kid - thought he was rad. Madballs were awesome, though their paint would inevitably start chipping off and peeling away.

I grew up owning the lock lips and wolf guy(can't remember his name) "action figures". Those guys were dangerous, it's like a rock wrapped in squishy rubber... Only in the 80s man
Omg I forgot about the comics from Star/Marvel. Snobulous was always my favorite.
Awsome video
Awesome toy line, reminded me of Garbage Pail Kids in ball form. Maybe you could cover Bogglins in a future video.
One of my friends was really into garbage pail kids, and he of course had the Mad Ball VHS tape. He put the tape in when me and middle brother were over by his house one time. Despite being Madballs, the cartoon was typical 80s cartoons fair. It was far more goofy than gross as they wanted to make sure it would work for a wider audience if got picked up.
