That section of Zac narrating the run was special even by the high standards of your work. Not a runner and haven't even played Lego Star Wars, but the way you edited it and his obvious passion for the game gave me butterflies in my stomach. Would love to see more runners given the spotlight to narrate their own key moments in that way.

I good hint is that the more broken a game is the more likely it is to have a ridiculous time. Take portal 1 vs 2 runs. Portal 1 is around 15min because you can enter a very weird state where the players actual position and camera are desynced and it lets you to shoot through walls and other stuff. Portal 2 patched this bug before it was discovered and the result is that portal 2 takes around 2hrs to complete a speedrun. I just assume any super glitchy game will let you get down to single digit minutes eventually.

Wow. Not only is it so exciting to see my name just for a brief moment in one of these videos after watching the channel for so long, but to see my favourite speed game chosen for a video made me so excited when I saw it come up this morning. Although I wasn’t around much in the community after my times, I have still been actively keeping up with the leaderboards up to the recent 2:24s and I’d really like to just note how absurd these times seem to me. I remember when I was most actively running and I spent my summer holidays from school playing over 6-9 hours most days consistently grinding out ILs for hours on end or I was strat finding looking for the smallest of movement optimisations just to make sub 3 more viable. A large time was also spent streaming for hours going for new records. Through this i had been under the impression sub 3 was barely viable, but unfortunately I believed that the game would hit a huge holt as it seemed very hard to even achieve this at the time. HOWEVER after the HUGE improvements, time and effort put in by the new gen runners, I was no less than shocked with just what can be done when you have a highly motivated team of runners. So i thank them massively, for not only making so many huge milestones become reality, but for being an amazing community. I remember when I had just started speedrunning and the record was in the high 3:30s and I had caught a few of tsgs records live and from there I knew the game had so much potential and it wouldn’t have been done without everyone’s hard work to achieve these records the years. It has been an amazing journey and it’s far from over yet. I can’t wait to see who gets the sub 2:20. Hey, I might even come back and try :) I would like to thank salt too for giving the speedruns of this game one of the, or even the biggest pushes it’s ever had in publicity and through this I hope it not only increases the size of the community massively but also the competition. I believe 2023 is going to be a massive year for TCS. ❤️

How does he make what would simply be a story of the exchange of records and discovery of strategies so enjoyable?" I'm one of those "I see a Summoning Salt video, I click" people, but seeing one for a game I never played more than maybe 10 minutes of on a demo, never really had an interest in, and don't know anything about... and STILL being glued to my screen for an hour and a half... major props to you, Salt. And it's not just a credit to you as a creator, but a credit to the runners who are so devoted to these games that their fight for WR is so engaging of a story to tell. Your videos never fail to make me sit back in awe with a smile on my face.

I would love if you could chart each runners PBs as their own line. When people are trading the record you can see each time the gap is closed and you’d see two different lines racing downwards. It would also be a really neat way to show when a new player moves super quickly towards the top because right now you only show the world record. It’d show a really cool timeline of events with the WRs still being highlighted

It’s honestly insane, I remember watching some of the videos from when summoning salt was just starting to gain popularity and remember thinking “wow these videos are amazing” but they continue to improve with the recent addition of the timeline and now an interview from one of the runners. Keep it up!

30 minutes into this, I was distracted and thinking it had gone longer. I said to myself that this was an impressive run on the world records and the successive buildup was cool. And then I realized there was another hour left in the video. ;D

The way the community exploded since then has never stopped to amaze me and I think it's thanks in large to the incredible bonding that's present in the community. I've never seen and doubt I will ever see a community like this again, and this video does an incredible job at showcasing that. Thanks for this trip down memory lane

The Lego Community has some of the best and most dedicated community members in all the Speedrunning communities I've had the pleasure of being a part of, and coming back and watching the development of all the skips and growth of runners fills me with pride knowing that I was there. My favorite part of Summoning Salt videos are the segments where we get to learn about all the new trick discoveries, including who discovered/created them, and I'm glad all of the glitch hunters and tech developers get their proper just due in these videos, so allow me to personally thank Summoning Salt for continuing to include them with every World Record History Video. I haven't ran this game personally since that '2:57' you saw for a brief bit during the race for '2:50' portion of the video. I don't think I was ever as good at the game as the absolute units of talent and dedication (1P2C is not something I grasped very well) that are the other runners, but I enjoyed playing with you guys for the time that I did.

The “ultra kill” actually makes total sense. In the trick one player is killed and then, with another player tagged in, the emperor can be pushed off the ledge. In the movie, Luke is nearly killed by the emperor and then ‘player two’ Darth Vader throws the emperor off the ledge. This trick is actually just film accuracy. (Sarcasm)
