Charles passed away on April 22, 2018. His enthusiasm and knowledge as seen in this presentation is a good example of how we'll remember him. He was an important part of our club and he will be missed.

You are correct abut the Young Sound. The announcer was as warm as a staff ash tray in the employees lounge. This review is a treasure trove for those of us who worked and loved radio.

I definitely remember WOR. During my Army hitch at Ft Monmouth. The only station I listened to. GR8 music better choice than WABC AM 770. Familiar tunes and then they would play some deep cuts from somewhere. Nice sounding FM station. This was a GR8 video thanks

You're absolutely right. My maternal grandfather ( bless his heart ) listened to WHAS top 40/talk/news ( this was a Louisville Kentucky station ). So, it was a reflection of what was happening in New York.

Very good, one correction is Murray The K was heard again in New York on mellow-rock WKTU in the mid 70s.

I heard the phasing fiasco. My God. I called the station. They admitted the problem. But suggested it was a tape cart problem.

I listened to hear about Frankie Crocker, . . . But I learned that the Chief Rocker Frankie Crocker may have taken Bill Drakeisms to the next formating level/expanding Drakeisms to Black radio.

Mr Blanding’s distaste for Scott Muni was very obvious in a couple of places on the presentation. As someone who followed Scottso from his early days at WMCA in the late 50’s, I think Mr. Blanding is way off base with his criticisms of The Professor. Muni ended up spending the majority of his career at WNEW-FM, over 30 years. Blanding had so much criticism, and I don’t think it was 100% accurate. I followed the market very closely as a listener from the late 50’s and was heavily into what was going on all across the FM dial in the 60’s and early 70’s. But what he says is his own perspective from his experience. Overall, the presentation was thorough.
