Needs to be said. Dan is actually a legitimately good friend to Blanka as you see Dan escorting Blanka's mom/took her to him. That's a true homie right there. Also looking at his moves in sf4 and 5 it's clear he's actually improving some. Particularly when his Haoh- Gadoken in sf4 blew him back, but not anymore.

Dan's character is very well written. His connections to so many fighters gave him depth from the start. I love that Pocket Fighter ending. It is very funny.

I remember seeing him on super puzzle fighter 2...he was a hidden character...Capcom...bring that game back on ps4 or ps5 network

The legendary goofball. But his journey was definitely a humbling surprise. Plus his legacy, style, presence, and unwavering spirit.

Dan has always been my goto character in any game he is selectable. He is actually pretty easy to use, you just have to be a close combat fighter.

Yeah I loved how in sf4 a lot of his combos are actually kinda hard to time right, and not at all worth it. It is so fitting to the character, putting in all your effort just for the better character to instantly stop it 😅

Dan became the ultimate way to disrespect somebody in SF, like bro “to solidify that you not on my level I’m about to whoop yo ass with Dan!!!”

Some of Dan’s backstory sounds uncannily like the exploits of Steven poo choke Seagal. Seagal can talk every language he likes and is a self taught bell end.

Great video mate, as always. Just so you know, Judo Gene LeBelle was known for his pink gi, which he claimed was a result of having accidentally added a red garment into his laundry. Gene went on to teach Bruce Lee grappling, as well as being on of Ronda Rousey’s mentors. She also adapted his iconic pink gi. Ronda was way after Dan's first appearance but the story behind Dan's pink gi seems likely linked to Gene,

I think Dan and Walugi share a similar fanbase... characters that started as jokes/fillers but became endearing for their faults and oddities.

Please forgive me, but I believe you forgot to mention the “otoko michi” or “manly path” the sort of Raging Demon satire move that Dan uses in the crossover games, he dashes forward grabs the opponent and blows up himself along with the opponent. Perfection *kisses fingers*

It depends on the game, in svc chaos takes 50% of the health bar and has no recoil

In the manwa (Chinese comic)based off snk versus capcom: SvC Chaos he has an interesting story, were Akuma ends up making him more powerful in order to have a more powerful rival to train so he can defeat Mr. Karate, so he ends up being much more powerful but is later tossed aside by Akuma quite easily anyway.

The funny thing is that he lost to Mr. Satan in Death Battle due to being truly incompetent as opposed to Mr. Satan being incompetent compared to heroes who can blow up planets.

I'm a simple man, I see Dan getting a time to shine and I click it :p

Dan definitely use to look like Steven Siegel back in the alpha games.

Dan became one of my favorite when I started picking him in Marvel Vs Street Fighter to beat my friend and tick him off even worse. Especially when the last hit is a taunt or the autographed card throw 🤣 poor D

I’ve always wanted to know what would Dan’s reaction would be if he ever learned the truth about his first fight with Sagat.

My favorite SF characters are Dan and Sakura so this was a treat! I'm loving these character documentaries.

I think it would also be amazing if Capcom made the Udon comics canon to the games because much like the games, it also did a good job portraying Dan.

I think Dan Hibiki is much more charismatic than Luke (which Capcom is trying to push right now), so I decided to make a comic story using only concept arts, hope can make his legacy more interesting when it's finished!

I think it’s cool that he’s a goof yet his story had a big impact on the main characters that we think back on .. I love Playing wit Sagat and knowing the scar on his chest was done by Ryu was cool .. but then finding out that it was Dan’s father made Sagat were they Eyepatch is really cool too .. that’s a huge part of Sagat’s character and Dan’s had that connection to the story .. really cool

Great video! Since his first appearance, Dan has been my #3. Ryu is my boy, followed by Sakura. I use Dan when I am winning too much and want to not only add some challenge but humiliate my opponent! 🤣 BTW was catching up on some missed videos of yours last night and holy crap, Last Decade is your wife? I liked using Dan because he was a step behind in speed and he had substandard special moves, but he could hit hard. This forced me to be strategic and forward thinking with his moves in order to win.

While I haven't played a Street Fighter game is Alpha 2, one of my favorite things to do back in the day was get my opponent dizzy then perform Dan's Tier 3 Super Taunt. It was quite the challenge to get the entire taunt in, but oh so grand when I could

Sakura and Dan will always be my favorites. Til then, I'm enjoying Manon. I'd love to see the three interact.

Funny you should mention Dan being the "Mr. Satan" of Street Fighter. The popular Internet show "Death Battle!" actually has Mr. Satan go up against Dan Hibiki to see which joke character would win against the other based on their "feats" and "abilities." I won't spoil who wins, but it's a very entertaining video.

saikyo!!! :3(love his voice actor in 4-5 actually 1st appeared in the parody street fighter high looking very spot on like the saikyo master.) love how much of a playful parody of snk dan is(especially him and fellow joke character joe higashi being the focus of capcom vs. snk 2's pro edition & both winning the tournament while everyone was busy fighting rugal/akuma.),his rather sad(especially in the comics where he gets revenge but only wants his father back that really hit home to me.) backstory of sagat killing his father(that's still pretty badass that his pop is why sagat has the eyepatch.sagat really has bad luck with shoto characters.lol) that did have him help sagat become a good guy not letting revenge overtake them, how really funny he was in 4(reminded me a lot of a goofier sokka.:3) with him missing out 2's events(weird ultra didn't add him,karin,r. mika or sakura.) and barely entering the tournament with his funny commentary in 5's shop and how more of a helpful friend to ryu he is in the comics(especially teaming up with the other street fighter characters to save ryu from gill actually getting a few hits that i'd love to see the games adapt for 6.:3) along with his funny friendship with sakura & blanka. and was one of my favorite parts of the alpha ova's(had the only good fight scene and wished his friendship with sakura happened in the tournament after she goes to the hospital considering the brutal mauling vega gave him/the 2 and birdie being the only alpha characters relevant to the movie.).

When i was younger i thought Dan was a parody of Steven Seagal.

It's been hinted at; though never confirmed, that Sagat PURPOSELY threw the match with Dan, because of some sort of guilt with what happened with Dan's father. Sagat COULD'VE easily killed Dan, but chose not to; allowing Dan to obtain the vengeance, and atoning for his actions

@@LordBarros Yeah, I went back and realized that was brought up in the video. I said hinted at because I read it in an Udon Comic and didn't know if it was cannon with the games or not.

Funny thing about what's claimed is that his look I've always believed was far more influenced by some fool who was trounced by Van Damme in Double Impact. The guy even wore a pink karate gi and sported a pony tail. Not to mention he was a loud mouth with taunts who went down in one move.

Dan is a mix between even more fighters, his triple hitting flying kick is very similar to Mizoguchi's flying kick combo (Data East's Fighters History series). But I don't know if there is any connection, maybe it's just a coincidence.

Dan could've went around the world, training in different dojos, learning different fighting styles, so he could put all the knowledge together to develop the TRUE Saikyo Style as a combination of the best parts of multiple different fighting styles. It'd just take him a LOT of time.. And a LOT of money. I mean, hey, if he had the potential to learn anything from Gouken then he definitely has the potential to learn other fighting styles.

Dude, the guys who made Street Fighter (1987) left Capcom in 1989 to work with SNK. In 1991, they created Fatal Fury: The King of Fighters (1991) and Art of Fighting (1992). In 1989, they possibly created Street Smarts (1989).

You describe the creation of Dan Hibiki, then lead into Art of Fighting without mentioning that it was FORMER Capcom employees / Street Fighter creators that left for SNK and created Art of Fighting, which is why Ryo and Robert are the way they are inspiring Dan Hibiki. And Sakura Kasagano is also an inspiration from Yuri Sakazaki.

Has there been any recent developments about his character? I really want to see him improve his fighting style and himself as a person too you know but he can still keep most of his personality but have him mature a bit more you know?

I used to wash people with Dan in SNK vs CAPCOM. I would get accused of cheating with a joke character.
