Aston Villa FC are football heritage!

I took a tour of Villa Park, and the tour guide said that the claret & blue may have been inspired by the colours of the floor tiles in a local pub that McGregor attended. He liked them so much that when the pub was demolished, he bought the floor and had it moved to Villa Park. And there is currently a replica of that floor in the "McGregor Suite" (the corporate boxes) at Villa Park today. But also, his wife was a Hearts fan, so there's a rumour that the claret might have been inspired by their shirts. Who knows.

This video is a poor synopsis of the club. Villa have only been relegated from the top flight a few times in their 150 year history and have spent 95% of their existence playing in the top league. This video made it sound as if they were a yo-yo club, but that's far from the truth. As evidence, Villa are still the #5th highest club on the All-Time Top Flight Table (above the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Spurs).
