guerrilla warfare existed in China and Europe before shivaji. Sun Tzu wrote about guerrilla warfare, and similar tactics were used by Europeans like the Romans during the Punic Wars (look up the "Fabian Strategy"), Vercingetorix during the Gallic Wars, and Arminius during the Germanic revolt.

for the last time, Shivaji DID NOT INVENT GUERRILLA WARFARE. guerrilla warfare and its techniques had existed long before most established countries came around, including a country as old as India. in fact, guerrilla warfare predated conventional warfare (evidence of organized armies and warfare did not surface until 3100 BC in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia). Sun Tzu even wrote about guerrilla tactics in "The Art of War" (including the importance of espionage and spying) in the 5th century. In Europe, Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus was considered the pioneer of guerrilla warfare in his time (around 200 BC). he came up with the idea to avoid frontal assaults and direct confrontation against opponents, instead fighting an enemy by attrition and indirection (this was called the "Fabian Strategy" and employed by the Romans against the Carthaginians in the 2nd Punic War). additionally, the Gallic Vercingetorix used mobile, indirect warfare against Julius Caesar, as did Arminius who led the Germanic revolt against the Romans. guerrilla warfare wasn't invented in India, and certainly not by Shivaji Maharaj in the 1600's.

Romans had their limits too. After defeat by Parthia, they stayed away from Persia. After defeat in Germany of Varus's Legion, they mainly fortified the German frontier, but couldn't make their way that far. The Romans also had to deal with politics and propaganda and there were man instances where they disengaged when a conquest was too far, too difficult, or rewards were slim. Sometimes setbacks were temporary, but there's a reason the Germanic and Celtic world were bordered by Rhine, because Romans didn't want to venture too far into Germania.

Why did bots hit the comments so hard? And why do they care so much about maharaj? Okay so he was the first in the area to start using guerilla warfare again but it was still around before him, even if humans of the time had moved away from it. Guerilla warfare is the default form of war, “conventional” war is an attempt to civilize war and give large powers an even bigger advantage

Military operation launched only for LTTE. Not for innocent Tamil people. it was the largest humanitarian mission which conducted by government force after world war II. Actually, at the final stage Tamil people flew to Government controlled area in order to protect their lives. Tamil Tigers used them as human shield. in fact , people supported to government forces at latter part and after war also. They have positively accepted government reconciliation plan too.
