His biography from www.almaghrib.org: Shaykh Abdullah Hakim Quick, PhD, is the Head of our Islamic History and Homiletics Department, a rather enriching and exciting department to indulge in. His students dub him as "old school Dr. Quick" and find his Boston accent a rather smile-jerking classroom staple. They also jokingly claim that he can look at you and accurately map out your family's migration path, mainly due to his travels far and wide to expose you to his first-hand research and experience through his PowerPoints, documentaries and books.
Alhamdulilah, he is one of our greatest additions to the AlMaghrib Instructor line-up, an addition that has grabbed the attention of people worldwide. Shaykh Abdullah has accomplished a lifetime worth of achievements spanning many continents while enlightening the lives of millions. He was born in the United States of America and accepted Islam in Canada in 1970. He pursued his study of Islam at the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia where he graduated and received an Ijaza from the College of Da'wah and Islamic Sciences in 1979, one of first two students to do so from the West. He later completed a Masters Degree and a Doctorate in African History at the University of Toronto in Canada. His thesis was an analysis of the early life of Shaykh 'Uthman Dan Fodio, a great West African Scholar and social activist.
Shaykh Abdullah has served as Imam, Daa'iyyah, teacher and counsellor in the USA, Canada, South Africa and the West Indies. For three years he contributed to the religious page of Canada's leading newspaper. He has traveled to over 59 countries on lecture, research and educational tours. He has also made many appearances on Islam channel, Huda TV, Peace TV, SABC, and in conferences and radio stations the world over.
Presently he is the Director of the Discover Islam Centre (Cape Town). Like DigitalMimbar on Facebook: www. TheMimbar

@accent77 It is not Arabic Roots but Islamic Roots. In those times, Arabic was the lingua franca. Many scholars were Persian, Afghans, African Berbers etc. Islam is really not about a race. But we cherish the Arabs for Allah sent His mercy through an Arab, Al Mustapha (PBUH)

This speech should be given in front of the leaders, prime ministers, presidents, and kings of the muslim countries. and these leaders should have their families with them too. its all good to educate the public, but what good is it when those in charge r hugging and kissing the kaafir leaders. none.

Very interesting speaker. Should it be "Islamic Roots in the West" or "Arabic Roots in the West"?
