I am getting this tattoo. It's my rebirth and purity. Since lotus grow through muddy water, it's basically a good example of my experience. I am grounded and remain of pure heart although I can be in toxic environments and challenged all the time. I push through all odds due to my strength and power. I am on the soul's journey seeking wisdom and spiritual enlightenment. I always wanted a tattoo of this flower. It fits. So getting this is very important and it means a lot to me.

Well done! But I have to point out the single most profound meaning of what the lotus flower represents from the Buddhist perspective. You mentioned the Lotus Sutra but left out the literal point of that sutra. As we all know most plants/bushes/trees bloom flowers to attract bugs to spread pollen to eventually create new life in the plant, the fruit. The lotus flower bears fruit simultaneously as it flowers symbolized the effect happening at the same time as the cause. What this really means from the teaching of the Lotus Sutra is that without eliminating past accruement of bad karma in your past lives you can attain perfect enlightenment in your current form. This is a teaching that contradicts all previous Buddhist teachings yet is the true teaching of the Buddha.

Lol. Your pretty good. The symbol of the Lotus is ancient,& existed in India before “any” tribe migrated there. I’ll look into the Lotus Sutra. It seems the author of this Sutra realized a few things.

I've always been fond of the lotus flower the concept of something so delicate and beautiful could rise up through the mud looking for the sun.... Resonated. ME!

To me it also means unity with our true origins and oneness with all that is, the Spirit-Soul connection between us all. To me it also tells about our multifaceted nature and potential, all knowingness and true wisdom that assists us to reach a state of peace and harmony in the vastness of the inner, accessed through the gap of so called present moment of now. Awareness of all as one and all.

Huh. I got a tattoo of lotus to remind me of my best friend who had much wisdom but hurt me very terribly. I waited a long time to get it. I hated my marriage and the spouse I was with and getting the lotus was a reminder that my body is my own. He despised tattoos. So my large lotus is my life experiences displayed on my back.

Well covered but you missed the real point . Youga talks of Sahasrara Padma as the ultimate realisation . It is the Spiritual Sun with thousand Rays . Sun itself is called the Sahara kirana . Now am finding another revelation about the Egyptians and the red indians. Red indians have a decoration on their heads that look like the shape of a lotus flower won over the head.
