The Hidden Gem of Europe | Exploring Oradea, Romania

Is Oradea a hidden gem of Europe? We spent a few days exploring Oradea, Romania and were shocked by just how beautiful and well-maintained this city is. One of the most recommended places for us to visit by our viewers, we quickly realized why.
The town square, full of restaurants, cafes, and shops makes Oradea a perfect place to spend the afternoon - or a few days if you have the time. The town has so much more to offer than just the town square including a river walk that winds through the town, the cathedrals, and churches. Join us as we explore the most beautiful city in Romania.

    What has been your favorite video/destination on our travels through Romania so far? For us, Oradea took us by surprise! It really shouldn't have considering how recommendations we had from viewers to visit. We really hope you can see the beauty of this town and love it as much as we did. Thanks for watching!!

    You should visit one or two cities in the Moldova region as well, not to be confused with Moldova the country. So Romania has 3 main regions: Transilvania (Center), Tara Romaneasca (South) and Moldova (East). You should visit Iasi, which is the largest city in the eastern region and one of the biggest in Romania. In Iasi, you can visit the Copou park and Palatul Culturii. I recommend also visiting Vatra Dornei and Suceava. It's a region in the mountains with beautiful landscapes...

    As a citizen of Oradea (born here) i have to wellcome all tourists visiting our city and country(yes, there are many other great cities in our country), recommend you to stay more, to visit our rural places too. For example, "Băile Felix" is a great place to visit, being at just 7 km from the area you was valking on... There are also many other places to see, in the regional county of Bihor, both in sommer and winter..! We are not developed as much as a tourismus city, because we stand against rising the prices(allready exploded, in comparation with the living circumstances as romanians) and we disagree to "sell" or destroy our good name for money. (at least, most of us:)) You may also know that the politicians are very strenght with the localls, and there were great sacriffices to renew(renovate) this city to became "instagramable" as we say. Now, in 2024 those tunnels (you didn't filmed at work) are ready, and the "down town" area will be enlarged to the old citadel you visited. There, in the back exit, we have hugee festivities in sommer when people from different country are comming to play some war scenes, for several years (we have 2 termal water springs there, and a nice parc to have a resting hour in nature). There are many things to see in pur country, but as i said, we are not engaged in that "tourism bussiness" everywhere. We really think that pur hospitality, shall not develope to be sold, but to stay natural. We hope to remain pure next decades too, even when people from other cities are comming to develop such ideas here.

    loving these underrated/overlooked countries!👍 I have a random/weird question about car noise....in your travels have you heard really loud noises from cars - specifically the annoying loud muffler sounds from cars revving engines, what used to be called "rice rockets", although that seems a little racist... anyhow, I live in So Cal and sometimes it's like I'm living in a Fast and Furious movie because in my neighborhood we hear these loud racing muffler sounds at all the time and I'm just wondering if you've had that unpleasant experience over there? or do you hear any of the loud bass bumping BOOM BOOM BOOM from cars at all hours of the night? totally serious question 😖

    Hi! Great question, unfortunately we don't know for sure the answer as we didn't rent a car there. In the future we do plan to get one, as we understand the process is quite easy. The issue really isn't if you need one when renting the car,, it's the officer that pulls you over that may ask for it. Thanks for watching, we loved Romania ❤️

    Hi wanted to ask you if the current markets have effected your holdings? If not maybe you can share where you have most of your retirement funds in? Or can you recommend how you manage your savings we don't need to know your total net worth but if you were me and had $100k or $500k or $1M where would you have all your money invested? In a bank? Thanks Tony

  • @BrianandCarrie

    @BrianandCarrie

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Tony - Great question! Unfortunately, as for most everyone, the current market has affected our investments. But fortunately, they are truly only affected if we need to sell at a loss. Before leaving on our travels we already had a plan in place that would help us in the case there was a major shift in the market. We each keep 2 years' worth of living costs in a savings account, out of the invested market. This way we don't need to draw out money in a low market or have time to wait till it can recover a bit. In a higher market, we typically will sell off funds to keep this account remaining at 2 years, but right now, we are just waiting out the market and will only draw if necessary. Hope that helps - Thanks for watching! Cheers 🍻

    @@qwertyqwerty-zi6dr >>Colin McEvedy, British geographer and historian: "The Latin speaking Wallachians and Moldavians, inhabiting modern Rumania, are first mentioned at the beginning of the 14th century. Their later claim to be descendants of the Roman colonists planted there in the 2nd century AD., seems tendentious and improbable, for the Romans' withdrawal from [modern] Rumania ([in] 270) and the appearance of the Vlach states are separated by a millennium in which the country was the property of Slav and nomad and which is devoid of all evidence of Roman survival. Almost certainly the Vlachs came from the western Balkans."These words are aptly corroborated by the French historians Pierre George and Jean Tricart in their book: L’Europe Centrale: - Peuples de I’Europecentrale au XIe siicle). Colin McEvedy angol földrajz- és történelemtudós szavai: “A modern Romániában lakó, a latin leánynyelvén beszélő havasföldiek (Wallachians) és moldvaiak (Moldavians) először a 14. században említtetnek. Későbbi állításuk, hogy a Kr.u.a 2. században odatelepített rómaiak utódai, célzatosnak és kevéssé hihetőnek látszik. Ugyanis, a rómaiaknak Románia földjéről (270-ben) történt visszavonulását és az oláh (Vlach) államok megjelenését évezred választja el, amelynek során e föld szláv és nomád népek birtokát képezte, és amelyből teljesen hiányzik a római továbbélés bizonyítéka. Szinte bizonyos, hogy az oláhok a Balkán nyugati részéről származtak.” McEvedy szavait illően erősíti Pierre George és Jean Tricart francia történészek műve: L’Europe Centrale - Geographie Physique et Humaine /Közép-Európa természeti és népességi földrajza (a 11. században)
