While it was more than one punch in that case, this reminded me a lot of Houdini’s death. And Houdini was only 52, the king is probably over 100 biologically, and at least 27,000 or more in actual years. To be honest, you get to an age where almost anything can kill you. I can totally imagine a well placed punch from an enraged man with military training being enough to kill a frail old man.

To explain Milo drinking the nitroglycerin, it's sweet. It smells like caramel or banana and tastes sweet. Depending on how much, drinking liquid nitroglycerin could make you go red in the face or even faint. It acts as a vasodilator, enlarging your blood vessels and lowering your blood pressure. Side effects are an elevated heart rate and nausea. Nitroglycerin tablets are administered to treat chest pain in people who have coronary artery disease. The tablets are dissolved under the tongue or in the cheek so they can absorb straight into the blood stream. Don't mess with the stuff unless instructed by a medical professional.

Jim Varney passed away on February 12, 2000, at age 50 due to lung cancer from smoking, before the production ended, and the film was dedicated to his memory. Producer Don Hahn was saddened that Varney never saw the finished film, but mentioned that he was shown clips of his character's performance during his site sessions and said, "He loved it." Shawn Keller, supervising animator for Cookie, stated, "It was kind of a sad fact that he knew that he was not going to be able to see this film before he passed away. If I had seen this movie as a kid, it would’ve been one of my favorites for sure. Seeing it for the first time in my 20s, I really appreciated the more mature tone. This isn’t a movie targeted specifically at kids, it’s a work of art that anyone of any age can enjoy. A timeless story of adventure, a great lost civilization, and romance. It’s got some Jules Verne in it, some Indiana Jones, some Avatar, but this movie more than stands on its own! Milo is a lovable geeky lead, Kida is an awesome Disney princess, and the two have great chemistry in their scenes together. The only thing I would change is having even more scenes between them! Their interactions were funny, heartwarming and believable. The side characters are all funny and quirky, as you come to expect from Disney, but it hits you different in this movie when the twist occurs, and they all end up siding with Rourke (at first, at least). This after they spent all this time building up their friendship with Milo. We really get attached to these guys, and it hurts when they seemingly abandon Milo in his time of need. Speaking of Rourke, this guy is one of the most menacing and realistic villains in the Disney catalogue. The fact that his voice makes him come off as a really warm father / uncle just makes his reveal to be a soulless greedy narcissist, while not a shock or anything, to really resonate. And you can tell how much it hurts Milo, as he was had trusted Rourke from the start. Helga is an awesome femme fatale. Yeah. I never thought I would say that about a Disney character. Her intro is straight out of a 30s film noir. Anachronistic? Yes. Badass? Yes. That little inconsistency didn’t really bother me, she was just a great character. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this movie. Again, I only wish I could have seen it sooner, it’s a real lost masterpiece.

Ahhh, Atlantis. One of my favourite animated movies. I'm so happy that this film is getting more attention nowadays. It flopped when it came out because of timing, but it's genuinely a really good film, and I'm so glad you have had the opportunity to experience it

_"The animation quality of a movie from back then..."_ My dude. It was 20 years ago, not the 1960s. lol Traditional animation is timeless for a reason. Jesus Christ these movie reaction channels make me feel like the Crypt Keeper sometimes. I was a junior in high school when this came out! 😂 Great reaction regardless, though! 😊

@@ItsTotallyCody My younger sister is 26, too. I didn't say it was _inaccurate,_ I just meant that in terms of traditional animation 20 years is practically nothing (it's not like computer animation where 20 years is an eternity just because of the advancement of computer processing power) so it's just a little odd to me to say it "holds up." 🤷‍♀️

There's a theory somewhere (and my own conclusion as well) that the general Rourke stole that page after grandfather Thatch translated, which seems obvious since he can't read atlantian while Thatch could. And little after, Milo's grandfather died. Not from deception, but probably by Rourke's hands.

This is one of my top 10 movies of all time. It's also apart of my special 3 movies of "Underrated movies about finding mythical places" with the other two including Treasure Planet and Road to El Dorado. This is easily one that I will rewatch over and over. So much to love about it from the story to the animation, music, characters and so much more. Kida and Milo also are probably also one of my favorite Disney couples. So much chemistry for them and they don't even have a kiss. Also I don't know if any other comment said it, but the creators of the film did in fact make up an entire Atlantaen alphabet. So when they speak it in the movie, it isn't just gibberish, it has a real translation to actual sentences.

I can imagine he's gonna say some not so kind things about Audrey to St. Peter . . . :3 Great job figuring out the King is blind and why. When I first saw it on VHS in 2001, I didn't know why his eyes were white. Yes, he looked into the Heart of Atlantis when it was activated, basically same reason they tell you not to look straight at a nuclear bomb when it goes off . . .

The missing page was established when Milo was reading the journal in the caves on the way to Atlantis. Milo talks about the power source but "it just ends" as in, the rest of that part is missing. A punch and a fall. Old people can die from falling and breaking a hip. It's really not much of a stretch that a very old and frail person can die from internal bleeding after they get punched hard and fall down on a stone floor.

The lost city of Atlantis by Disney is one of my favorite classic Disney cartoons growing up. Showing the discovery of Atlantis and how Disney was able to come up with a movie showing that discovery. You said you’ve never seen Tarzan in years which is another good movie by Disney which I loved also, but I think a Disney movie the tops that is the sword in the stone. A movie depicting the time of the dark ages and king Arthur, swords nights and of course a little bit of magic (sorcery). I hope we get to do a reaction to Disney sword in the stone soon!!!!

the biggest thing i take away from this, as well as most movies from this time, is the charm of the characters. the story and action would be C tier at worst but the characters were so fun and enjoyable to watch that i come back to see these movies. that and the world they creates is pretty cool. heck, they were making a series but that got dropped when the Box Office numbers weren't great and that's why the "sequel" was just a few episodes stitched together. it's not bad just ok.
