ST status must be given to meitis community. Majority population can not be discriminated. Meitis have only 10% of land having 53% of total population. How ridiculous rules this is! Nature Nut, how do you call yourself as a Gorkha? Gorkha is just a district in Nepal. Tribes recruiting from there to armies were called Gorkhas. So, only tribes like Gurung, Rai, Limbu and Magar were came to be known as Gorkhas, especially the ones who joined the armies back then. Even today, only the ones who have joined armies and are not yet pensioned are regarded as Gorkhas. The rest, like you and me are just Nepalis or Nepalese. We can call ourselves Gorkhas, only if we call ourselves Nepali first.

The peaceful rally already ended in 2pm and people had already reached their homes but the incident happened around 5 to 6 in the evening which started in torbung where tribals were beaten and their homes looted by the meiteis and in kangvai area so if you had use your common sense the peaceful rally March ended till tuibuong area so majority have already reached their homes but when the vandalizing and burning of homes and violence erupted in Kangvai area which is a a kuki area where the victims are mostly kuki the other tribals went there to help them but the meiteis were with the Manipur police commandos and armed with guns and pistols so don't try to change the narrative or play the victim role.The oppressors trying so hard to be portrayed as the victim.

Everyone keeps on repeating 90% land inhabited by the tribals.. Well, no one is aware or ready to consider that these 90% hill areas have only about 10% habitable area and about 90% is inhabitable due to dense jungles, terrains, ridges,etc. even reserved forests. The 10% valley area favours more population than the 90% hills

Manipur tribals deserve separate administration from majority Meitei control state.....otherwise, tribals could be externinate from their ancestral land. Because, the oresent proposed Reserve Forest, Wild life sanctuary and other forest acts were introduce against the inform consent if the kical community as per the Indian Forest Act if 1962.

ST status must be given to meitis community. Majority population can not be discriminated. Meitis have only 10% of land having 53% of total population. How ridiculous rules this is! After having 90% of land by nagas and kukis,they can buy meiti's 10% land. This discriminatory rules must be abolished. Meitis should give their due rights.

I am a meitei living in kuki majority area. I would say the illegal immigration happening in Manipur is one of the major problem. But we can't label them the kuki as a whole as "the illegal immigrants" because there are lots of kukis who has been living here for a very long time. In my home town kukis were the minorities during my childhood, i used to go for a morning walk everyday with my dad in the woods and i could see a drastic increase in population every years. There are lots of deforestation happening to build houses and there are no trees and forest now. Now the meitei are the minority there

In manipur context its not just the kuki who infiltrates but the meiteis & others alike.India was not always the most populous coutry but now it is & pointng fingrs on a particular community for it is baseless

Meiteis are enjoying 8th Sheduled already whereas they opposed 6th Sheduled for Hills.They can write competitive exams in their own language. Most of them are enjoying reservations Under SC &OBC. Now they want to be ST, SC, OBC & Generals? So Article 371C of the Indian constitution is there for a reason.

Late Suisa Rungsung, a Visionary former MP, who later became a Member of the Naga National Council (NNC) once asked and pleaded with Meiteis to accept ST Status. He was humiliated and spat on by Meiteis. "Ekhoi Hao macha, Hao pang natte" "Eikhoise amaangba mi natte" Translation: we are not Hao, and not foolish like you or Hao means backward, foolish, Untouchable to Meiteis. We are not lost, man." Suisa was dejected but tried again speaking to the Meitei Maharaja of the then, but he was meted with a strong warning and dire consequences if he further pursue the matter among Meiteis. Suisa wept and wrote in his diary "One day these people (Meiteis) will demand ST status by then, it will be too late to undo things that are achievable now" No doubt, the present drama pouring out by Meiteis and its HC to grab the tribal rights and most importantly tribal land is an SOS call to unite the tribals to fight for their rights.

Agreed @moz kuki in nagaland are under naga community as per the nagaland state recognition, but in other state like assam, meghalaya and tripura we are included in Kuki community, thanks you Naga brothers for always being supportive to us in times of war and peace, we won't forget that, but let me clarify the fact that Kukis are characterised by the Britisher for our dialect similarities and Nagas for their dissimilarities dialect, yet our tribes are both hill dwellers and proud head hunters 😁
