Honestly, I might have gotten a bit tilted recording this. More than was necessary. But it pisses me off that Jagex feel like their player base (all of us) can't see past their total crap. Just tell us how it is from the start, don't over hype something that is totally unnecessary to hype, and don't leave out information that you know people are wondering about. The big question I would ask is who do I trust.... those people selling bonds and rs gp for real gp or Jagex. I atm is settling[not really] those people selling bonds and GP for reasonable ..prices

One of my big gripes within the pass itself is that over half of the cosmetics are literally just a color variant of the necrolord set. The only good ones are the last 2 overrides that you get. Very disappointed in the almost lack of effort within this itself.

Havent seen a company squander literally all praise riding on the tails of a good update as much as jagex. Honestly, they have a gift for it.

Irons and hc irons shouldn't have had daily challenges anyways lmfao, yaal are supposed to get ur own xp and own stuff, not rely on free xp challenges😂😂😂. With that said This comment in no way supports the pass, it's garbage

To get every new item on the track and in the store, it'll take about 1160 hours of grinding. If you include the progress from doing as many daily/weekly/general/special challenges as possible, it's about 800 hours. In 91 days. That's nearly 9 hours per day of active play. 4 bonds let you skip about 250 hours of this. It's extremely clear the whole thing is basically an arbitrarily unreasonable grind, but a decently reasonable bond sink. For those who want the cosmetics, the most efficient option is clear: sink bonds. For them to keep touting that this is a core part of the game, even though it's temporary fomo and nearly impossible to complete without using bonds at that, makes me extremely salty.

@jesse-4198 nope. Maikeru did a video on this, too. 1160 hours to buy out the shop. It's still something like 400 hours to complete the track and have unbought cosmetics, which is still 4.5 hours a day (minus time saved from challenges/quests). It's intentionally excessive, but "only a few bonds." They also said many of the rewards will be unique and never re-released, to really up the FOMO factor. This whole thing is predatory AF.... It's also dumb that RS is now the only game I can think of, which has a subscription system, a battle pass, AND lootboxes.

The only place the skips were even mentioned was in a discord comment by Mod Azzanna, a day after the announcement. This also means hero pass is virtually guaranteed to be ruined by Jagex greed, eventually, whenever they have a short quarter. Only now we're going to be milked on emblems as well! Joy!

Really bummed they took away my iron's daily challenges and the weekly rewards that came with them. This is just a net negative in every way in my experience.

I feel sorry for the artists that create all these amazing cosmetics, just to have them put into the game in such an insulting way

How is it insulting? I literally got to lv120 today by using bonds that i bought from ge with gold i made from playing the game.. cost me 1.5b that i had laying around from rasiel drops.. I didnt spend a single dollar to get to lv120 and unlocked literally everything. All pets and cosmetics. (I really wanted the lv120 cosmetic) So u can all get to lv120 by simple playing the game…. U dont need to spend shit

It's insulting because all of this work could have been put into actual content or even rewards from actual gameplay. Its a battle pass which is built on fomo and its another way to spend money in a game which has plenty of ways to already do so. Jagex couldn't care less if you get all of this for free as its not their target audience for this pass.

I appreciated your honesty. I feel like they made it so absurdly bad so they could walk it back "After listening to the players". A full-time job is 2000 hours per year which works out to roughly 500 hours in 3 months. The time this takes is utterly absurd imho.

"Let's bring more people back with a new skill..... alright it's been 3 weeks, MTX!"

It infuriates me because a lot of us don't have time to come on for hours everyday and now that little bit of xp from dailies is gone. Jagex need to leave well enough alone.

I really hate how almost all MMOs have gacha components to them, and now more and more have this battle pass thing going on as well. On one hand, I get it, you have to make money to keep the lights on. But this... this is ridiculous.

But Init! This is the most Majorist, Biggest and Bestest Update to ever come to Runescape! For now on every bit of minor content added to the game will be accompanied by a Major Update to the HERO PASS! Bigger then Classic to RS2 to RS3 to the release of OSRS. Bigger than the update to the Squeal of fortune to current day Treasure Hunter and all of it's fantastic promos. Bigger than any new skill released in RS3 and all of it's graphical reworks! I don't think we understand that the shelving of the avatar rework or heck not even releasing T95 Throwing Axes is well worth this Big, Beautiful and Magnificent Major Update to the CORE of the game! This is HERO PASS!

I got yak track skips left so it skipped me up and they give you 12 charges of -20% damage for full runs.

i love how on the reddit the mods are saying "we are working on what to do for ironmen" this was slated as a major content update part of core playing but they decided all ironmen need are oddments that they cant use lmaooo and dont forget the premier pass happens to cost an amount of bonds that you cant get spending money unless u buy multiple packages or one package that costs more of extra useless bonds gg jagex for getting rid of ironmens only real source of xp to make herblore and agil bearable

Went to use viswax to change the focus skill. It didn't work and didn't give a message explaining why until I took the viswax out of my bank. I didn't have to have it on me before....

One of the things that annoys me the most is that to get the entire xp bonus, you have to get to lvl 115! That's a way of exploit us into buying skips to get there faster

So.. no more dailies which give some experience..? I actually liked the dailies to get experience in skills that are hard of I don't like to train (as a ironman).

This is a downgrade from yak track from the simple fact that it takes considerably longer to finish. Just getting to level 120 requires 262.5 hours (about 3 hours a day from now till the end of the event) of skilling on top of doing all the challenges. I only did one yak track, and i finished everything in it weeks before it ended. For this hero pass, i suspect a lot of semi-active players wont be able to get to 120 at all.

With Jagex it’s always 1 step forward is 2 steps back.

One of my many mild compaints about this battle pass, but all the skins look the same with a change in color being the difference.

Apart from the XP and PVM buffs I don't have a lot of problems with the pass tbh, it feels like a better and updated version of the Yak track. Having players pay for something like overrides seems fair.

This is far worse, you'd have to play like 9 hours a day the whole pass to unlock everything. Or spend like $190 to skip the whole pass that is beyond ridiculous

With the clue scroll buff they already do have that in game normally so it is not valid to compare adding that to hero pass to them potentially allowing you to skip boss phases. This is not something already established as a core part of fighting bosses, skipping/reducing steps for clues is something the game already allows you to do. Clues have skip tickets to skip all the different puzzles, the anachronia totem to reduce scrolls by 1 step, and the dark facet of luck enchantment to have a small chance to skip a step on any clue. The clue buff is not a big deal at all, however that pvm buff of 20% reduced damage in ed4 100% IS.

i logged in to rs yesterday for about an hour, done my daily challenges, now i don't even want to login to the game, ive burned out with necromancy, daily keys would have kept me coming back to the game, maybe this update is the killer for rs for me

They also put it out on day 6 of 7 without changing the week start so this first week is less than 48 hours long...

I actually lol'd when you said "you earn hero points by skilling, buying bonds, I mean defeating enemies".

Those cosmetic items could have been pvm items brought into the game if they spent the time on pvm instead of MTX. Like the soul witch outfit could be a t95 magic power armor. Same thing with ancient necronim scythe which could have been a t97 melee weapon from a new wilderness boss instanced.

I get it Jagex has to do what it needs to to make money and keep the game running, and producing more content. I am most disappointed about the interface. It looks like something created in the early 2000's. For a major update it missed the mark.

Irons shouldn't have had that anyways, you chose to play as Ironman, you earn your own xp and own items lmfao, there should never have been free xp for Irons in the first place

No slight towards anyone but love how there was no chance for evaluation of the pass which is 90% cosmetics(Yak included all sorts of exp stuff), a 15%(down from 20%), and 2 Buffs that only 1 or 2 of them people care about. Chaos Ward lasts till you get the kill and if it helps people learn p7, you have 12 free times to practice. Doesn't matter how good content could be. Skips or w/e for it can exist. Doesn't have be a "need". We have 2 avenues for step skips in game for clues. No "need" for a 3rd. It'll be fun to have a few for the hundreds an avid cluer will do. I for one an glad my 10 years of Premier Club loyalty is worth something with extras. The 19 buffs are divided into 4 categories of skills which each go to 15%(down from Yak Tracks 20%). Been saying for year "oh they're selling this thing then say down the line they'll sell t99 gear" but it never comes to pass. The community won't be happy unless RS3 is like OSRS. TH is fair in my opinion for criticism but literally everything is like the sky is falling.

PREMIER MEMBERSHIP IS CHEAPER THAN ANY MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS SO YES ITS FREE. Even if you are Grandfathered at $5 a month, all the perks and benefits pay for the premier itself. The extra key per day alone pays for premier itself, not to mention you get 150k loyalty points, artifact, monthly drops, the vault, cosmetic outfit, pet, badge, vip worlds etc. Even if you pay with bonds 26 bond paying a bond every 2 weeks vs 20 bonds for premier.

i agree with most of this but the sentiment of you have to buy this to get it as fast as possible for the buffs while I don't like pvm buffs in this does that REALLY matter unless you're going for speed times or need the extra help, like its not like its going to be 100% you have to be premium or you're banned from teams

1 less clue step seems to be more about efficiency than fun and doesn't bother me

the buffs are limited though so there really is no point in boosting for them? I see boosting levels as a good thing for players not able to play at the moment and come back to the game with a few days left they can pay to catch up and not miss out, totally worthless to boost right away though when you have the whole pass to grind for the buffs and cosmetics lol

The strange wording in the news post made me think- these MTX things (framework) were probably made by another contractor company and Jagex just filled it out with cosmetics and copy pasted it into their game.

Clue scrolls already got nerfed with the soul dyes now you can skip steps.

The problem is when dose it stop…

All buffs are "available" amount of time using said buff is different. Wording is key.

If they were to rework clues or make them "fun", then it would need a big consensus between the players on what sort of things we'd like differently. I personally don't want any shifting puzzles (for those who don't know about them, they are the tile shuffle ones.) - or at least have an npc who's willing to solve them for a set amount of GP (inflation is what it is... but 300k to 1m gp depending on the type of clue, rank... such as beginner to master, changes the prize)... I'm sick and tired of having to toss out clue after clue... because of these puzzle boxes. As for the pass in general, I get a dreaful feeling that we'll just have to get used to it... that it is set in stone, what might differ would be alterations to prizing, or other things... changes to values, charges being increased or decreesed on buffs, etc. (longterm)... as I doubt they'd simply remove Hero's Pass entirely.

Even though I have a regular account, I keep the integrity of my character by not spending any real life money on it. I haven't spent a real life cent on this game and I'm super proud of my progress so far. I remember tanning black dragonhide for my first few bonds while training slayer so that I could, eventually, sustain myself with slayer alone... Those were good days! If you have a main account (or accounts) too, I encourage you to do the same! You'll be happier this way, I promise :p
