That's why the Miami Heat is not for everybody. Jimmy couldn't last long in other cities, where there was no accountability. He then gets to Miami and he's thriving. I remember Jimmy's interview with JJ Redick in which he talked about when they were on the Sixers and they were called to watch film and after the session, NOTHING was said. And Jimmy was like, what did we accomplish there? Most teams are afraid of their stars. Miami isn't.

    1. The Dolphins win a lot at home because that heat & humidity tears teams apart. It gets all the Florida NFL teams an advantage. The Dolphins stadium is basically built to drain the road team in sweltering heat because I believe the benches face it. The Bucs do a funny thing, so in NFL rules the home picks the color of their jerseys. When they face their division rivals, because all of them wear black, the Bucs wear white at home playing them. It's why the Panthers wear those sky blue jerseys, almost every time it's for a road game vs. Tampa. 2. Almost every Heat player says when a cold weather comes in: Indiana, Boston, Minnesota, etc, and it's middle of winter, just go ahead and give us that W. It's worse now because some teams will play Miami twice in a road on the road.

Bron would constantly hide what he would do in the regular season vs top playoff teams to maintain an advantage. Also, NFL the outdoor heat is a major advantage. Do you think Tom Brady was fucking around in Miami whenever he came there? The worst record he had against a division rival was Miami, and it was always because of the road games later in the year. Any team that plays in heavy snow/cold temps then drops down to Miami is going to feel it.

Maybe fans don’t give him credit but it’s hard to deny a guy that always kept his team around .500 and competitive with lackluster rosters in between LBJ-wade era and the jimmy era. Everyone knows you need stars to win in this league. The closest that was to not being true was the pistons 20 years ago. And they had an all time great defensive player.

McCants said he didn’t respect Pop tanking this season. Because either he’s tanking or he’s not tanking, but not able to maximize his players anymore, like Spoelstra. However, they got Wemby so it paid off. Some people have questioned Bill Belichik, since Tom Brady got his chip with the Bucs. Some fans questioned Steve Kerr two seasons back, when his guys were injured and GS had one of the worst records. A coach can only do but so much, but Miami runs their franchise like a college team. I get Rashad’s tanking critique. Losing games on purpose, is lowkey rigging the game and cheating the fanbase who paid to see games. What if they tanked and didn’t get Wemby or Scott.

Veterans go to Miami when they want to extend the last legs of their careers. A ton of players would be all time greats if they had more discipline. I've always been proud of Dorell Wright and was always glad to see him become that vet on other teams. Miami feels like a college players come and they got to get into the program or they get bounced. I felt what Dorell said though about barely going to the beach, most locals too busy for temptation.

Pat Riley was able to establish Heat culture because he already won in L.A. and NYC before he got to Miami. NBA players making guaranteed money aren't gonna respect you unless you have the resumé. The only reason why LeBron James couldn't get Erik Spoelstra fired was because Riley had Spoelstra's back and told LeBron to his face that that wasn't gonna happen. In fact, I honestly believe that Riley would've traded LeBron if it came to that. Rob Pelinka wishes he had that kind of pull.

I remember when Pat Riley was promoted to coach the Lakers by Jerry West, when Magic got Westhead fired. Since Pat's time in LA to the Knicks and finally the Heat. In my opinion there has never been a team in the league, that is physically more conditioned than a Riley team. And that's what people overlook. In Pat's system, the first and foremost issue will be conditioning. This is why Spo said, " We are not for everybody." Players are going to be more in shape than they have ever been in their lives,or your not going to be there,no matter how talented you are. This is why players are not listing the Heat as their preferred landing spot. Then we get into accountability. Your name, contract or agent doesn't mean shh to the Heat. Pat has a good cop bad cop kinda guys hanging around. Players like Mourning and others who are not a part of the coaching staff, but they will nurture, teach and actually fight you if your on some Solo Dolo shh. Spo has become the embodiment of Pat's way of establishing culture. Shaq left because of the conditioning demands. LeBron left because he finally discovered he can't control shh with Pat and Spo. D Wade left and was welcomed back because,he honors and respected the system. Pat wasn't a dawg as a player but make no mistake about as a coach and gm he got more dawg in him than any team in the league. You know leadership and greatness,by rather or not if that excellence and dawg can bred and make dawgs and leadership. That's why Spo is a hall of fame coach. And the killer is Spo never played in the league 😅😅😅

Gil absolutely is right. When the league puts a team in Vegas it would be in their best interest to hire someone from the Heat to establish a similar culture of accountability. Otherwise those boys are gonna get caught up in the glitz and glamour and forget about keeping the main thing the main thing which is basketball.
