Alright, first "Broken Machine" and now this? WHY SO MANY BANGERS POPPING OUT IN MY RECOMMENDED HOLY. Honestly this song is so good, even tho im pretty sure we all think that, the lyrics are pretty catchy and the song itself is very well made. The art is well done too and it makes me watch the full video if i ever click on it because of both the art and the song. I've rewatched it a bunch of times now but it's just so good i can't get tired of it, i hope such content about OneShot keeps coming because it makes me real happy to know despite it being underrated, it still gets a lot of sick things

Absolutely loving that we’re still getting OneShot content. Glad to know that we still haven’t forgotten about Niko and the world machine.

oh yeah it's time for an essay. I'll start with the good stuff because there's a LOT of good stuff. -The soundfont for the music is phenomenal. The pixelated synthesized sound works great as it's reminiscent of the games of which One Shot's graphics come from. -The vocals alternated between the synth vocals (early in verse) and the more human sounding vocals (later in verse). The transition was so smooth I didn't even notice it the first time. I like that you used both because while the synth vocals are cool, they aren't great to listen to if you don't know the lyrics or are reading the subtitles. -From a purely lyrical perspective, the chorus is really good. I say purely lyrical because I think it was a little too cramped and long. But in terms of just looking at the lyrics they are really good. -The bridge. YOU FUCKIN NAILED THAT SHIT. ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT. The purpose of the bridge is to connect the last verse into the chorus with a little extra emotion, and you did that BRILLIANTLY. I cannot say enough how hard it is to write a good bridge and you wrote a GREAT bridge. It was immediately different from the chorus and verses musically while still keeping the pace of the song and gradually slowing down. You get to really hear the acoustics giving the listener a more personal feeling as it builds into the last chorus. The lyrics are so good because they're (mostly) story-accurate, they're deep in their meaning, and they convey the intent of the character they come from. I could go on for hours about everything great about this bridge but I digress. -The music didn't completely cover the vocals and visa-versa. This seems like a small thing, but it's so important that you can actually hear both parts. An instrumental would be so cool and it would really help me because I really want to make sheet music for this. -The art is just so good. I don't have any analytical takes on the art because I don't draw, but it's just so good. The not so good stuff. It's not stuff that I inherently hate about the song, it's just a few nitpicks that I would change -The chorus feels very cramped. It felt like you had a whole song worth of chorus that you had to squeeze into a few lines. Especially after the bridge there is no pause. The chorus is good, but it's hard to remember the whole thing which is the point of a chorus. It's a few lines that repeat throughout the song that should be easy to recognize and memorize. -Some of the lyrics just felt like you made lyrics to sound cool while forgetting the fact that they don't make sense with the game it's based on. Now, I haven't played One Shot in a while. This could be my bad memory. Lyrics such as "cover yourself in dreams left all alone in bed" and "sometimes the broken screen shatters beneath the weight of its own dreams" feel misleading because they don't really talk about the narrative of One Shot as much as they just... sound cool and keep up the rhyme scheme. I might look into it further and edit this comment if I find out I was wrong. -The key change at the end. I don't like random key changes. You did more than a good enough job setting the tone with the bridge and the out of nowhere key change is kind of jarring. I wouldn't mind it as much if you had a break between the choruses to smoothly transition into a key change, but that would devalue the bridge so overall I just say leave it in the same key. I never know how to end comments like this so I'll just say 8/10 song and this is definitely going on my playlist :)

Thank you for the comment, I appreciate the detailed look into the song. The bridge also includes the only real instrument of the track to help with the feeling of it To address some of your critique, none of my songs contain simple choruses as I do not draw inspiration from the typical pop chorus and instead from other vocaloid songs which will have very complex and long (though mostly in Japanese), choruses. This is to focus on the story rather than memorability. It’s obviously a genre taste, but you will find this style in pretty much all of my songs 😅 I did want to point out, because I think it’s kind of funny based on your comment of loving the bridge and thinking the chorus is a little over the top, that the bridge *is* the melody of the chorus and the melody is not actually any slower. Just sung with different intensity. I think it’s cool how the dynamics of the voice and backing track effect perception like that, though the speed of the animation in the video probably influences that too As for the lyrics, no lyrics in my song are ever just random, though can be much more symbolic or cryptic than literal at times. “Cover yourself in dreams left all lone in bed” is in reference to the places in which Niko falls asleep, prompting you to leave the game (hence alone), only to return to them dreaming of their home. Continuing with your trip or sleeping are basically the only two things you do in Oneshot, so I made the comparison between the two. The ‘or’ between them isn’t meant to be seen as exclusively one or the other, just that these two options exist. “Sometimes the broken screen shatters beneath the weight of its own dreams” is a little more symbolic in the sense that dreams refers to the initial intention of the creator, who created a machine (screen) that literally starts breaking under the confliction (weight) of its own programming. The use of dream here also draws parallel with the other line ^ for Niko, just with a different meaning of “aspirations” than “actual dreams”. Hopefully that clears up these lines a little more, though I do warn this is one of my more straightforward lyric songs because I write lyrics to be more like poetry, with hidden intent or multiple meanings lol Also instrumentals come out with every song once they hit stores, both in stores, and under releases on youtube

Okay. I know I’ve already replied on this comment but I gotta say this somewhere. HOW DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING. I usually play the song on while I’m looking at it’s comments, and whenever I do, there’s always a comment that quotes the lyrics and whenever I read the lyric mentioned in said comment the lyric SOMEHOW plays at the same time or at least very close. It’s happened to me at least 5 times within the last month TWO of which were from reading THIS comment thread. Does this happen to anyone else or am I just going insane?? I’m being serious this is genuinely happening despite it sounding made-up

Absolutely love how the World Machine turns the "One shot is all it takes, for a life to end, for a light to break" line on its head. Love how you subtly altered the mode there to make it sound less desperate and determined, and instead morose and regretful.

it's so rare to see a content of my favorite game...

Between Choice of a God, Broken Machine and now this. OneShot fans are producing some crazy hits! Every song has a golden aspect to this. In this case it's the lyrics, very nicely done. The vocals on the other hand almost didn't hook me in. At the beginning it felt very... vocaloid-y. Until 1:39 blew me away. When you sang "Up in the sky" and hit that high note, something just resonated in me in the best way possible.
