The Heart of Being a Man with George @thetinmen

George, simply known as @thetinmen, is a blogger and advocate who is broadening perspectives and conversations regarding men. He shares uncomfortable conversations and ugly truths that others don’t want to talk about, along with the unpopular other half of gender equality, and men’s mental health.
He courageously and unapologetically shares valuable information and statistics regarding how men are treated in today’s society, including being marginalized, denigrated, and disrespected. Through creating important content and developing a strong community of followers, George exposes the myths regarding the role of men in society, in the educational system, in relationships, and the horrific statistics regarding depression, mental health issues, and the epidemic of suicide among men.
Download this fascinating episode and discover why George’s message is having such a positive impact, why it really isn’t controversial, why so many of his followers happen to be women, and the heart of being a man.

The fact of the homeless shelter thing…that was hard to hear. Men are most affected by homelessness and they literally built a shelter and did not allow men in? This is one of the clearest cases of sexism I’ve ever seen. Women are at least as empowered as men are in todays society (especially in university) and we still have countless programs for women, countless scholarships and awards, and there’s near zero of that for men. If that’s not sexism I don’t know what is. And to top it all off, hating on men online is not seen as sexist. It’s seen as okay and funny and if you call it out, you’re insecure and fragile. We are doing men a profound disservice and I, for one, think men are just as valuable and important as women.

I know. I'm so glad that George has the courage to shed the light on this topic. In my experience interviewing quite a few men, it seems like there is an awakening and a movement where men are speaking up, standing up for themselves, and changing the narrative. And it's about time.

Toxic Masculinity needs to be dropped like a bad habit. Name calling is not acceptable. Richard V Reeves Wrote a book entitled Of Boys and Men which talks about the struggles of Boys and Men. Male suicide is an serious challenge. Female suicide is less of a challenge.
