You can actually buy Tomogatchi again. Which I find ridiculous. But also did anybody else grow up in that overlap period where the switch to CDs hadn't been fully made so you still had to save the occasional thing on floppy discs, and then had another overlap from CDs to thumbdrives? Ah yes, the experience of growing up during the technologic boom.

Naw, if you were kind of a nerdy kid, or what would pass for nerdy in the 70s, in America, you WANTED a fountain pen, with the fancy split point and those ink cartridges. I loved writing with them, the ink flowed smoothly, like a gel pen, but the tip made a scratchy sound that seemed, oh, I don't know--elegant?? But the ink could be messy, and you had to keep buying new cartridges, so they weren't very practical. I still have a couple of them but rarely use them. They sell them as disposables now.

Oliver is the one who failed the 80's test! VCRs were the most magical, fantastic thing that ever happened to me! I got to keep scenes of my shows and watch them whenever I wanted and I didn't have to wait for reruns. The quality was AMAZING for the time. It was just like the image we had on our color tv. Of course MY childhood was with cassete tapes in which I could record my favorite songs from the radio instead of buying the whole Longplay just because of a song. I'm old and I'm not ashamed of anything! Except for those 80's clothes and hairdos. They were hideous.
The fact that Oliver and I are the same age, i can feel his pain. LOL And whyyyy is he sooo pretty! 😍😍😍 I only continued Hill House for him. Only watched Invisible Man for him. @Zakemaster

The point of him being Scottish was basically to help explain some of the prejudice he was battling and why he had essentially hit his ceiling as Henry’s assistant. Especially back then, there was heavy prejudice against Scottish people in England. It helps explain some of his viewpoint and actions in the series.
@gnomie3908
3 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that about the predjudice against Scottish people at that time. I suppose my comment was more about showing a diverse UK. If they were set on the character being Scottish it would've been nice for them to introduce a new Scottish actor. If it was mainly aimed at showing inequality and prejudice it would've been interesting to see someone from a mining background as that was also a big issue at the time in which it was set.
@XleahrachelleX
3 жыл бұрын
@@gnomie3908 It seems that actors from Europe commonly switch accents based on the role, Saorsie & Fassbender come to mind. Scottish actors do all different accents too. I could name many of those. I don't think it's any bit of an issue for Europeans to switch to European accents, but that's just a guess from what I've seen. I think it's extremely impressive for an actor to be able to do it in any way. But while you could argue that there are so few roles in their native accent anyways for Scottish actors, you could also argue that acceptability of any European actor who can switch accents greatly broadens the career opportunities for all of them. Scottish arnt limited to Scottish roles, Irish arnt limited to Irish roles, Brits to Brit roles, etc. There's also the fact that many Europeans do have a mixture of accents because they've grown up in different countries. Which gives them greater accent versatility
I still have my tamagotchi, although it was the “newer” version from 2010 lol
Omg Tamagotchi’s lol. I had one in high school and I loved it. Wow, I’m getting old 😳
Damn way to make me feel old. Shit I was born 92 and definitely seen all of those and even I can't remember much about them. The ones that stick out like a sore thumb are video tapes, floopy disks and camera films. Never got my hands one one of those film cameras. Like adults didn't want to risk losing precious film. Video tapes. Man, the trouble you get into when you unravel it being curious and all and it gets tangled beyond hope. Oh and floppy disks. Boy they were so easy to be damage and simply because you cannot help but keep sliding back and forth the cover.
I used all those around his age and still use some of them
I was born in early 2000s and my parents are 80s kids so I knew all of these and my mom and grandmother have like all of the Disney classics on VHS and my grandmother still has her VHS player so it’s really neat watching them
