That's wonderful. I hope you are tempted to try the Haslam system. There are so many beautiful patterns. I've heard of the Lutterloh system and understand the principle of the "Golden Rule" but I've never actually tried it. Maybe something to add to my repertoire later ;)

That's really kind of you to say. It's been a dream of mine for at least two years so I've spent a lot of time watching other videos on KZread and getting a feel for how I wanted mine to look. It's a steep learning curve to actually be able to achieve what I can imagine but it's definitely worth the effort and I'm really enjoying the journey. Thankyou so much for subscribing.

I too have searched in vain for Haslam videos in the past so I decided to listen to the advice: "If you can't find what you're looking for, create it!". i think it's going to be a really fun journey and it's so nice to know people are coming along with me :)

I can’t believe this is your first video!! This video was absolutely delightful and so well made!! I have been sewing all my life and adore vintage patterns. I am now 40, and after having 8 children I have found my measurements don’t quite always correspond with ready made pattern measurements. I’ve begun exploring the haslam method to be able to make vintage fashions that will suit my body type. I cannot wait to watch the rest of your videos and follow your journey. Thank you for sharing such a lovely video!

Your channel came up in my feed, I think because I have just taken up sewing again after 40 years. We used to learn this in school but I am re-learning and am very interested in the Haslam System. Years ago I had the Lutterloh system but life got in the way. And I love vintage-style clothes, particularly the 1920s - 1940s. I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of your videos. Me too! Ever since my Grandad introduced me to vintage music and films, I've been in love with vintage styles. I was just a teenager then and my Mum used to make my dresses for me but the passion only grows and I love being able to create the looks I love so much :) The Haslam System opens the door to so many incredible designs.

Just found you and really appreciating your dedication to this form of pattern. I'm expecting to learn lots as I follow along with you.

Yes, there are many system that work in similar ways and think that the skills probably complement each other very well across systems. Really glad you enjoyed the video.

I'm so excited for this series! I purchased a set of patterns and the instructions a year ago but have been too intimidated to start! I'm not especially good at knowing which steps to do in order without explicit directions so I may need to pick up the green book you showed here.

I would definitely recommend "The Haslam Guide to Practical Dressmaking and Tailoring" if you can find a copy. Mine was a very thoughtful Christmas gift from my brother a few years ago. I'm not sure how easy it is to find though, but any dressmaking guide from the period would be helpful. I also plan to cover the steps for construction given in the Haslam guide in future videos.

You are a charming young lady and I appreciate all the work you put in to teach us to make those beautiful dresses. I am using Lutterloh and it does not have those gorgeous vintage patterns in their collections but I think there might be similarities with the Haslam system. I am ready to learn!

Thankyou! I believe there are vintage versions of Lutterloh available too, and other vintage designs that used a very similar ruler system for drafting. You might enjoy checking out theuglydame.blogspot.com/ as this blogger makes beautiful vintage dresses using Lutterloh and sometimes hosts Lutterloh sew-alongs. But I'm so glad you're joining us on the Haslam journey too. You can never have too many vintage patterns!

I just found ur sight when punching in haslam dressmaking I wonder if this works on ALL body types and measurements cause my measurements are 46 44 49 do u think it goes that high ? I am looking at buying a book but need to know if it works for my size and thank u so much I am subscribed

sorry this is a really late reply but it goes up to 52 and the company i found that rereleased them as ebooks added up to 56 :) hope this helps
