The Hardest Light You Can Get
Andrea Belluso is an experienced photographer with more than three decades in the business. Every now and then, Andrea takes us behind the scenes of a recent shoot to share some of the knowledge he has gained over the years.
In this episode we get to join Andrea at The Palm in Dubai on sunny shoot for Cadillac cars. To match and even overpower the strong sunlight, Andrea uses Profoto flashes and Profoto Off-Camera Flashes. The light is controlled and shaped with softboxes and Hard Reflectors. And the result is stunning.

Respect to Andrea, this guy knows exactly how to work with hard light. Not just average photographer who talks about softboxes and beauty dishes in portraits.

Andrew Mikhaylov Thank you so much, very kind :-)
This was amazing, I literally just bought my first light stand, so it's awesome to see what this can turn eventually build up to.
I have used Profoto at few events when younger. Great recycling time when taking photos of models. Thanks for showing on another video you can do billboards in train station with 20 mp camera. I always try to keep learning.

It's the continued learning process that helps us each grow as a photographer.
Love the contrasty hard look ! Back to the drawing board deciding what modifiers to get, wait.. I think I need all of em!
A great teach. Kudos to his team and Profoto.
Enjoyed the vid..very inspiring!
Awesome video thank you for sharing. I'm curious as to what the camera settings were iso, f-stop etc.
Thank you so much for posting and the insights on your shoot! I happen to be a wedding photographer and my client, who works for Audi of America, now wants me to shoot a lifestyle concept for Audi and this btw was great in so many ways!!

Best teacher ever!
love the purple picture at the end !
great shots, aside from the fashon shoot, good to see some car shots 🙂 and a great way to show how to light shiny objects outdoors, but did you get any lens flare?, esp. with the car pannels, it would be as bad as water or snow, would it not?, and how do you deal with it.
Genial reportajes los que haces,un saludo compañero.

Why shooting the 1Dx for this kind of work? Wouldn't be more megapixels nice? :D
Beautiful tutorial, very informative for enthusiast like me . . . Thanks!! One question, What camera is that, the boxy (square) camera?

Dubai is awesome
I did enjoy the video however, I'd prefer to see the straight results before post work. All the shots appear heavily processed which hides the lighting effect tosome degree.

+Paul Hodgson Exactly bro ! totally agree.... since 1 year now i'm planning to buy the B4 and the D4 2400 and i still have a doubt really.... they are not allowed to lie with equipment cost more than 25,000$ overall with accessories.

Couldn't agree more, we'd gain much more about what the lighting setups do with a straight-out-of-camera images.

My guy isnt trying to show you raw photos. he has a name out here.
I thought the photos looked desaturated. Whoever put the photos in the video put them as adobe rgb and didn’t transform them to srgb or didn’t do it correctly
Бублик, положенный на бок, меняет характеристики света! А пацаны-то не знали!!
Great work with posing and interaction with the models but I truly dont understand why one would choose this desaturated, HDR look for portraits. These are beautiful portraits, however with this editing style it's too grungy and overpowering.

Andrew Steen I prefer that look. It makes it more dramatic. They are lifestyle shots after all, so creating some drama seems necessary for story telling.

Thanks for your comments. Although each picture is very personal in its interpretation and taste is also extremely personal, these are not portraits, they are advertising lifestyle/fashion commercial pictures and I preferred that look for this job, and so did the client ;-)
Haha not only in Dubai Hard light even in the Caribbean some times even harder
I bet he doesn't look for jobs on Craigslist lol I wonder what his rate is
these photos are terrible
Men jumping in fashion photography is always a bad idea, they look very stupid. 5:27
