@@l.bmurky3578 you can tell in game. If it shows a picture of the servant of flame then reapers are winning. A picture of merrick and the hunters call is winning. The two staring at each other means that it is too close to count, tied, or something like that.

Instead of helping or burning I’m just going to let it be. The lag and the reapers camping everything ruined the experience for me.

Flameheart doesn’t want true piracy. It’s a lie he sells to his pawns; to his own son. To the people who are blindly loyal. Flameheart has proven that loyalty is nothing to him, as long as betrayal benefits him. He wants tyranny, not piracy. Exactly. Flameheart brings not change, but an even more vicious version of the established way of things. Why else would he only use Skeletons and Phantoms? Those two types of being are easily controlled by him. No living person would bend to him. Stitcher Jim was both already nuts and also so selfish that what happened to him appears to have been a very isolated occurrence. While it can be argued that Duke is similar, it's not quite clear what happened to him, and he's not a Reaper, or dead.

Worries me to see so much reaper siding, I see the pros and cons of both, I'm just a huge law fanatic... I'm worried. Both parties are becoming propaganda. Like 'pick a lesser evil' kinda deal.

Lore nerd here. Not _all_ of the Gold Hoarders' gold goes to... well, the Gold Hoarder. Some of that gold goes to the Order of Souls. In exchange, the Order tells them where chests are buried. It's a mutually beneficial kind of thing.

I completely agree. The trading companies have restricted what is worth doing on the Sea of Thieves, both in terms of profit, livlihoods, and adventures to be had. BUT. You're forgetting a few things. Firstly, the Reapers Bones aren't just the Servant's faction. They're servants of Captain Flameheart, a bloodthirsty conqueror who seeks to claim the Sea of Thieves for himself. If we were to follow his plan and side with his son the Servant, as justified as the Servant's anger is with the companies, we would quickly see the Sea of Thieves come under the rule of a warlord with an army of undead. Skeletons, ghost ships, and phantoms would swarm to maintain Flameheart's law. We would be trading a Pirate Lord for a king, a tyrant - what we sought to escape by journeying to the Sea of Thieves in the first place. If that doesn't convince you, fine. Keep Golden Sands desolate and shrouded, detonate the soulflame kegs. I hope you can live with the guilt of leaving people homeless and without livelihoods. Ohhhh, that's right! People LIVE on the outposts! Didn't think of that, did you? Bet you didn't even pay attention to the Forts of the Forgotten adventure. Are you really so blind and so focused on your own profits and adventure that you abandon those whom reside on Golden Sands? Tina, the party animal tavern keeper. Wonda, the weaponsmith abandoned by her own sister. Tom, the boisterous equipment shopkeep. Cecil, the kind-faced clothing shopkeep. Sharon, the hard-of-hearing shipwright. These are all people, people who live on Golden Sands and call it their home. Think about that before detonating those kegs. It may be hard and boring work, bringing supplies from Smuggler's Bay and all over, but if it's gonna help protect those people and ensure that Flameheart doesn't get his firey claws on the Sea of Thieves, I say it's damn worth it.

As much as I enjoy variety and potential change, taking the only outpost in the Shores of Plenty does not appeal to me in that sort of way. Not to mention the Reapers and their representatives have done nothing for me except piss me off. Here's to hoping the new Golden Sands has a reworked Hunter's Call.

The only guarantee for golden sands is that it'll remain shrouded, as said by the servant himself. So I'd rather get a guaranteed outpost back then keep and island shrouded. Plus it probably wouldn't turn back to normal, the island is likely to look more war torn, and they might keep the cannons that are already there now. That would be pretty cool, a defensive outpost like reapers since Merrick is held up there

If you want to help Golden Sands get the Rum Bottles from Cannon Cove. Sell them at Golden Sands then cancel the adventure and restart it and get the Rum Bottles from Cannon Cove again. Rinse and repeat.

fun fact: becoming a skeleton usually doesn't mean you become a skeleton lord: it usually means you become a mindless grunt to be cut down by a living pirate, phantom, ocean crawler, or siren.... following the reapers would have most of the pirates on the Seas becoming either mindless skeletons in enforced servitude to Flameheart or as phantoms in uniform and again enforced servitude to Flameheart. no matter what you do with the reapers, it ends the same. you are no different from anyone else in their ranks. you wear a mask to cover individuality. you become faceless, meaningless, and all in service to a man who wants nothing less than everything; including your free will. Meanwhile, Golden Sands outpost gives us all options to be the kind of pirate we want to be: The greedy gold hoarder, the Mercenary of the Ancient Order, or a master Cargo Runner... or even a Hunter and master Chef of all wildlife on the Sea of Thieves. I don't much care for the Pirate Lord, but this isn't about him. its about the people of Golden Sands and those who use its shops, tavern, and trading companies to tell their stories. Its about the Freedom to chose what kind of pirate you want to be. The Reaper's Bones seeks to destroy individuality and make you one of thousands. completely and utterly uninteresting beyond "masked dude wearing red gold and black". Don't fall for their false promise of "pirates for all eternity". Its more like "Servitude For All Eternity".

First off is there ANYTHING that says that the reapers have an alliance with flameheart. Second off you can still chose who you want to be you can still go and get chests to sell to the reapers you can still go kill skeletons to get there skulls to sell. Yeah sure the merchant alliance might not work but maybe it will in a different way. Also don't forget that the becoming a mindless skeleton thing or a phantom thing might not happen there's nothing that says that that will happen plus we might be able to have a uprising against flame heart in a really cool way.

It seemingly feels like how in PoTC 3, the Brethren Court releases Calypso from her human form and brings back the sea goddess to the sea, (while maybe not intended) It kept a level playing field and kept the East India Trading Company from taking over the ocean because it's now unpredictable and dangerous (at least that's my interpretation of the movie). With that spirit in mind, I may be more willing to keep the seas "free" as you say.

I agree with you that the reaper voyage is more fun, but from a lore perspective, I think your logic is flawed. Sure, some of the trading companies are corrupt, however compared to the evil agenda that flameheart and the servant of flame have, they seem like angels. Have you forgotten how the servant of the flame has literally jailed innocent people at golden sands, he has always pushed for pirates to brutally murder and steal each other’s Loot and be as hostile as possible. Some could argue that’s what being a pirate is but other would say that the game was better when the reapers emissary wasn’t a thing. And with golden sands, even if they replace it, they will just turn it into a second reapers hideout. Then the variety will be lacking. Also I disagree that the order of souls and Athena’s fortune are corrupt. The gold hoarders are very corrupt, but the merchant alliance while keeping much of the supplies, almost as a sort of Amazon for the sea of thieves. They help establish well timed trade routes and do in fact provide for the players and inhabitants. The pirate lord only works with the gold hoarders because he knows they will help him defeat flame heart, and after the war he has a chance of helping them change their ways. The pirate lord wants the great culture of sea of thieves to prevail. He knows pirates plunder and kill, but he also knows pirates come together and sing and dance, that is the kind of sea of thieves he want around. The order of souls is also in the right. They vanquish monstrous creature which prey on innocent pirate trying to earn a few pieces of gold. And while they do withhold knowledge there is not really any reason for any pirates to know, most pirates just want the gold they get from killing the skeletons. If you help rebuild golden sands. We will be one step closer at stopping flameheart, and we will be able to start explore new things around the sea of thieves, like the sea of the damned and more into the shroud. That’s the way I see it. I believe flameheart needs to be stopped. You could even argue sea of thieves needs a new ruler, but not a terrible flaming monster, someone who cares for the sea of thieves and isn’t power hungry. Edit: just to be clear, if the reapers are killed off, this doesn’t mean the sea of thieves won’t have piracy, after all its the sea of thieves, all this means is that there won’t be a whole faction encouraging stealing somebody hard work, you will still be able to do it, you just won’t be able to get the extra money bonuses for every persons loot you steal. Rare could even add new factions that take the place of the reapers giving us more variety and options for making money. I think the reapers need to fall, their era should be brought to an end. The end of one era is the start of a new one. We could have a faction that specializes in relics that’s like a cousin faction to gold hoarders. I think that we need new, more fun ways to make money instead of getting a fat bonus on everything. It just seems cheap to me.

Here is a trick to helping Golden Sands. Get the run bottles from Cannon Cove, go back tk Gomden Sands and sell them to Merrick. Cancem the Adventure restart it and get more rum bottles from Cannon Cove again. Rinse and repeat.

But the Servant pays you as much as the trading companies do for everything you cash in. So he takes the same portion of your treasure as them.

After listening to your thorough explanations you have opened my eyes as to what the Reaper's Bones stood for: a faction I only saw as baddies who are bad for the sake of being antagonists. While I agree that the trading companies are probably corrupt and do not represent the values the Pirate Lord envisioned for the Sea of Thieves they brought relative civilization to otherwise remote islands that are now outposts. However, the whole "True Pirate" way of life and calling those of us who want to restore the Outpost "weak" is a bit of a hypocritical point of view: Joining the Reaper's Bones means you are essentially succumbing to Greed and Violence, so much so that it brings Pirates to destroy Golden Sands Outpost all for the unproven words of people cowering behind masks as cold as their hearts. Sea of Thieves is to me a game all about the adventure, action and unexpected shenanigans. If you are hellbent into defiling a place which brought Pirate Legends like me then so be it: but know that i alongside other Pirates will be working towards rebuilding it.

If you like adventure and unexpected shenanigangs, you're shooting yourself in the foot by rebuilding the outpost. You have a chance to see something new, something you haven't seen before in the game, replace it. Probably a new opportunity to get rich. Yet you'd rather stick to what you know than heed the call to adventure.

I just can't bring myself to work against my favorite outpost. They should have picked a different outpost. Let them have ancient spire or dagger tooth. Losing golden sands is going to make me throw up. Reapers are in the lead with like 75% and I feel like I lost more than some cartoon video game island. I feel like I have had to watch someone beat down a dear friend and was powerless to stop it. It actually physically hurts, and all anyone is going to do is tease me about it.

Bro common. If teasing is a concern the KZread comments is the LAST place you Wana vent. Anyways don't fret. Even if they do kill golden sands something new will have to replace it. The game is going to change over time and you kinda have to roll with it. It keeps things interesting anywho.

Make the right choice, without being given any information as to what the consequences or even indications as to what to expect from either outcome. Why would anyone playing this game, opt to go backwards and actually remove a working outpost and leave it unused on the map? The option presented by Rare is rebuild it, or leave it. Well, it's the only outpost in most westerly part of the map so yea, who'd want it gone for no apparent gain? Be better if they said rebuild it into a pirate city bigger and better or destroy it and it becomes some sort of Reaper satellite island.

The choice isn't between Reapers and the other main 4 trading companies; it's between Reapers and Hunter's Call. Where the other trading companies are fueled by greed and hoarding secrets, the Hunter's Call is about making a good lunch. Merrick is the savior we need. Hunter's Call needs to fill the Reaper hunting void. #SaveGoldenSands

I don't dislike reapers, I even become a reaper sometimes but just thinking about how tons of new pirates are starting their journey in a hostile and barren region instead of the true beauty of the sea of thieves is sad. The shores of plenty capture the real beauty and sense of adventure in the sea of thieves. We shouldn't take that away from new pirates. #SAVEGOLDENSANDS!

sure Merrick's path is annoying and Servant's is fun but, there is a difference between what's easy and what's right, confuse them and there is no telling what you will become.

I don’t really care about the lore though I know other people do, and I respect that, but I just find it to be a large hassle getting to Sanctuary Outpost all the way from the south side of the map to the almost complete north side is a pain. Also since the Shores of Plenty is quite an open area I find it that Reapers love to lurk there and I would just like to sell my stuff somewhere close by. I’m sure Rare can find another way to bring good content other than destroying an outpost. (Side note: I agree with your reasons as well so I’m just going to let everyone else vote and just let whatever happens to the outpost happen)

If you're in a bad situation, that two to five minutes is valuable, but if you're alright and nothing is happening then you can make that voyage to Sanctuary Outpost and sell over there. Also, as I've said, I believe Rare can find a way to give great content without sacrificing an outpost.

I didn't know much of the lore here in the video, but I got the gist from completing the Reaper side of the event: The Servant tells you in the end about how they're destroying Golden Sands as a wake-up call to the the community to rebel against the Trading Company.

Preach! We are pirates not fishermen, we take and fight for what's ours. Why should we let some old guy in a tent undercut us on the gold we worked to get? Why let some old lady buy goods and supplies for dirty cheap as if we don't need them ourselves? Down with Golden Sands, welcome the new order of the Reapers! My crew and I will personally not stop until every ship trying to save Golden Sands is met with a watery grave, and I request you do the same!

The antagonists need a win honestly. They are like cartoon villians. They come up with a plan, and get defeated BY THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP CUZ PENDRAGON COMES TO SAVE THE DAY 92847 TIMES. They are like punch bags at this point. I am honestly tired of this whole: Go help the good guys. Oh no, Flamefart attacks! OOOHHH PENDRAGON COMES TO SAVE THE DAY FOR THE 465736 TIME! HAPPY ENDING. One small thing that I hope we get in the future is more offical reaper costums/outfits whether through emissary ledger or some other means because the one we have right now doesn't look amazing in my opinion and it is a stereotypical noob outfit and I want to be able to represent the reapers through clothing more

I really think it would be an interesting arc if we see Davy Jones and the Dark Brethren take over the Reapers and bound Flamehearts soul back to his body which leads to a decision in if we want to help Flameheart regain the Reapers or have Davy Jones stay in power. We could have a story where the Brethren and Athena’s fortune work together to slay flameheart and then Jones betrays Ramsey taking the Reapers for himself.

Listening and hearing this as a newer player, I'm kinda peeved that I hadn't played sooner. Especially now knowing a bit more of the lore behind Flameheart.

If the servant followed his own motives rather than Flamehearts I would pick the servant

To be honest, I was planning on siding with Reapers for the sake of logic and new changes. However, never have I ever thought of how deeply corrupted pirate lord is. Thanks for opening my eyes, Ray. May Flameheart keep you safe on your way to burn it down.

You're forgetting one thing. Rare will never let you win. Code still exists in the background for trades routes involving Golden Sands, as one commodity now can't be bought, and another you can't deliver to anywhere. If Rare was going to let you win, this code wouldn't exist.

They are financial institutions and will gun only for their own interests. A sea under Flameheart will not just be prepared for any GMU invasion but possibly even be able to expand the Sea considering his army are immortal undead legions. Just my view.

Sticking it to Flameheart and his scummy Reapers is more than enough reason to restore Golden Sands. Everything else is just a bonus.

Question: do the reapers tell you the secrets in the skulls? No? Yeah, didnt think so. Also,from a lore perspective, i get destroying it, but from a gameplay perspective, you're only thinking short term. Once the island is gone or back, you wont be able to do the rowboat thing, while if you keep the island, it makes trading a lot easier. Imstead of having to sail to sanctuary or plunder, which are very far away, ypu can take a 2-3 minute trip to golden sands. I can get where you're coming from, from a lore perspective, but the benefits of keeping it feel to me like they outweigh the benfits of destroying it.

I've wanted to help to restore Golden Sands, because of all these Pirate Lord's speeches, "it's not about the gold", because I like Merrick and just want him to be happy, and I've always thought that reapers is just an evil faction for edgelords But now, as Guyrza said, you've opened my eyes I'm not really a PvP master or something, but for the sake of RP and Sea of thieves I'm gonna try my best for the Reapers And they have my facourite aesthetics - gold-black-red colours, masks, and of course true piracy....

100% being lied to. Flameheart isn't fighting for true piracy. He's proven before that loyalty means nothing to him. He's lying to you, his followers, and his own son. He just wants to rule. True piracy sailing under no one. No army, no government, no emissary, and no king. And what's a popular chant among the reapers? "All hail King Flameheart."

Let me get this straight, everyone voting for reapers hasn't done the veil quest? All pirate legends have literally just helped the pirate lord defeat an installment created by the servant of the flame and got the veil back. Now everyone who did that quest for the pirate lord is like oh yeah I'm voting reapers now... Doesn't make any sense people.

No, I think you'll fall right into the hands of whoever entertains you the longest, and dance to the tune of whoever pays the most, at any given juncture. A truer idealist would be a Reaper all day every day. But that's not entertaining, is it? Variety is the spice of life, after all. Don't be ashamed, though! It's not a bad thing for a pirate to want a slice of everyone's pie, a taste of every life. I'm no different ;) Well, while it might be fun to help the Reapers here, I've got a different agenda. Restoring Golden Sands would make investigating DeMarco's death over on Sea Dog's Rest leagues easier. See y'all there!

Know its old comment and the time for this debate is over , but just though that usally when a new quest is added people do want to see what is it about... And as Ray sayed is was quite literraly "do the LIES (Shoured Ghost) thing and get bored because you cant do that amazing voyage since it goes againts your loyalty to your king", also. How many people in Team Merrick had raised the Reapers Bones emisarry flag before the update on "Ships of Fortune"? Just saying.... I think loyalty is kind of a weird thing on the Sea of Thieves XD

For me it simply comes down too the fact that i need to be able to spawn over there and not at daggertooth

Although your points are incredible and left me pondering over "Who should I fight for?" I have decided to continue the fight for Golden Sands' restoration. My intentions may have originally been for "Oh, but it's pretty! I like Golden Sands!" This video has made me realize how short-sided that is. Now, I shall fight for the people! Damnit, with all the time I spent on Forts of the Forgotten to save every last one of these people, I'm making damn sure these people will get their homes back! I do not care if the companies get one more place to buy all our goodies, at least we will have the money in a much more convenient and welcoming place. And if these companies ever want war? We'll give them war. We'll give them a war that they could never imagine! If the Reapers do win, though, I will not be sad. As a writer myself, I would be fascinated to see how the story goes from here. To see what becomes of the world following the collapse (or rebranding? If Rare makes it Reapers Hideout 2 or something) of an outpost could be interesting. Although the temptation lures me, I cannot fight for the Reapers without knowing the fate of the residents! (Not to mention, I would rather play "Move/fill this box and bring it from Point A to Point B" than play the worst game of "Row row row your boat" in my life.) (While on gameplay, I really hope for future "Choose your side" adventures, they make the pace go by a little faster. Make it a timed world event or something. I'm sure the most exciting aspect of this event will be in the final 3 days when the map is constantly changing as people bomb and people resupply constantly so their side can tip the scales. As of now? It feels like NOTHING is happening at all, and I'm sure it'll feel like it even when the map is updated to show the progress?)

Your lore facts are on point. As for the Facts that really matter - Hit reg, Bucket Reg, Food Reg, rubberbanding, all happened after Reapers showed up. Servers ran at a steady 30hz before the reapers appeared, now they run at average 15hz.

A little while before Golden Sands was razed, Sea of Thieves posted on their KZread channel asking people what your favorite outpost was. Everyone said Golden Sands and next update it was destroyed… smart of them. Also I profit from the war between them, but I don’t like the Reapers dabbling in Soul Sacrifices.

no matter what, I don't think I'll ever side with flameheart. while ramsey's promise of freedom is definitely muddied, it is more free than flameheart's promise. that's always been an interesting point to me, that reapers are hellbent on promoting "freedom", when really, flameheart and his son have every reaper by the strings, and funnel them to act, do, say, and go where they want. even by a gameplay perspective, a single outpost, a single representative, a single king. it's not so much freedom reapers crave as it is division, even against themselves, flameheart wants soldiers to do his bidding and every reaper is bending over backwards to please him like a dog with it's owner. the pirate lord's idea of freedom is certainly truncated, but he asks nobody to push his ideals, he doesn't demand you to be his envoy, he isn't training you to go to war for him. you're free, you may work freelance from time to time for any company but it's not so much corruption as it is, well, inevitability. the promise of unity is ever-present, most visibly with the sole shanty of athena's fortune. he doesn't discourage squabbles and sinking, but does advocate for peace and freedom as pirates of honor, pirates seeking glory, fame, riches, notoriety, luxury, juxtaposed with the only thing reapers want, blood. it's a much more natural and, well, empathetic method of freedom, one not born of eradication and bloodshed, one born of mutual desires, an escape, a bond and connection with one another, no gunpowder (sometimes), no war-torn path, but, freedom by way of unity. merrick forever, fight for the best freedom we can get.

I've said before that Flameheart's "freedom" isn't really freedom, that the Athena side actually more or less lets you do what you want in the Sea of Thieves (fight, fish, frollick, finding treasure, etc), and I still stand by that. Flameheart is a diet fascist who wants to make us his slaves so we can do one (1) thing, which goes against what makes Sea of Thieves a great game. HOWEVER I will say this: I do agree that PvP needs a revival, and the Reapers winning, even if they are objectively the worse side that would ruin the Sea of Thieves for most players (who do mixes of PvE and PvP, and often enjoy the chiller non-fighty moments of the game), would make the map and the game more interesting for sure. So the Reapers are on the wrong side, but potentially for the right reasons. I just hope that this doesn't turn into people genuinely bullying/cursing out people who enjoy the PvE content. As you have said, what makes Sea of Thieves great is that it's both PvE and PvP. The joy is that people can play how they want. And if the two sides can't coexist, the game will actually die. In any case, maybe next time I will help the Reapers just for flavor/interesting stuff. For now... I'm way too attached to Golden Sands, and a ghost fascist snuffing it out and making its citizens slaves just so he can ramble about some fake sort of "glory" doesn't sit right with me. If it were any other island... maybe. But for now, we shall (respectfully, I hope, and I do respect Reaper mains so long as they don't call me f*ggot when I sink them in) be in opposition. And personally, either way, either outcome, this will be fun. This is the start of a new birth for Sea of Thieves. Even if the Reapers lose this first fight, there's so much potential now.

As long as we don't fuck with the veil/respawn/mermaid pacts that make freedom on the Sea of Thieves possible, they don't care and don't interfere. Under Athena, not only can you do what you want, BUT ALSO they want to keep the in-world physics necessary to keep that freedom functional and accessible.

Flameheart has entirely and unequivocally proven he has no desire for loyalty by doing one thing: he allows his son to purchase the skulls of his fallen soldiers. The skulls of the damned, and even the ashen winds skulls, the skulls of his wardens. Fight it for gameplay, but fight such that the inhabitants of golden sands, not the trading companies but the citizens, and all pirates looking for a handsome horizon, might keep their ultimate resting place.

You know why I find hilarious that reapers want to transform Golden Sands into an outpost ? Here’s why : Golden Sands : D-10 Reaper Hideout : I-12 They are literally glued to each other, so keep Golden Sands and I’ll help you burn any other outpost, just not this one

Agreed 100% I was originally on golden sand's side but realized how boring it was to just rebuild, like it just progresses the world building id gs changes

People complain that the game is getting one-sided, but then alsways let Athena win… It‘s time to change, it’s time to burn golden sands.

There is a really nice saying. "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't". I'd rather take my chances with corrupt trading companies than Flameheart's rule over the Sea of Thieves.

Ofc the trading companies are trying to make a profit. By this logic the cashier that works the register and the janitor that cleans the bathrooms should make more than the ceo because they do the grunt work. From a more logical stand point you’d want to find a way to get a key that opens a chest or look through the skeleton captains memory yourself. Become your own king! Don’t move from one tyrant to another.

Another problem, if you want anothe Reaper's outpost, Golden Sands is a HORRIBLE location for you guys. Reaper's hideout might be somewhat centrally located but it is still mostly in the west, Golden Sands is practically next door. You need branch out to east a bit; I mean it's just logical.

I was a bit on the fence about getting rid of Golden sands. I like the outpost, but I also wanted to see what they would do if it was gone. In the end I just did one for each side and called it there.

Here's the thing, it's more fun to destroy the rowboats of other players with a good cause and see a lot of explosions than row for what feels like eternity. Save Golden Sands.

For lore and story advancement reasons, golden sands needs to fall. Putting past the "pick a side" bit going on (which i have seen bring people to slur tossing and being overly aggressive about their side, calm down.) all that has happened in the story gameplay wise (as in our pirates PoV) is flameheart being seen as a joke, yet is supposed to be the "biggest threat", all thats happened is he has lost at every single turn of his approach Change the balance of power so this story gets out of the loop of "bad guy plans, good guy stops" If we keep going in the direction of the good guys winning, there wont be struggle or proper conflict, there wont be any reason to actually invest in it because all it would be is "another win for the good guys" which is boring. If your reason for saving goden sands consists of either nostalgia or because you "want that selling point back" then as much as i try to respect others opinions' in this case you have the worst take. GS was my spawning outpost, the very first and the one i got PL on, but still i see it should burn so this story can grow and develop into something far more fun and interesting. Also- sanctuary is literally 3 squares away on the map..we've been without golden sands for months now and have already grown used to it not being avalible, let it fall and advance the story dont be the type of pirate that wants things to stay the same and refuse change.

I have to disagree with you saying that wanting gs back for the selling point is the worst take. If there is a selling point on gs then there is an actual reason to go there, remove it forever and it's just dead space that could be used for literally anything else. I would prefer the island be removed entirely and turned into open sea than it stay the way it is at the moment. Sure it might change the story but sacrificing gameplay enjoyment in an area on the map shouldn't be the price seeing as the most highly trafficked area in the shores of plenty is near to gs. If people cared that much about the story then why do people want incentives for completing tall tales surely if the story mattered that much to them the conclusion would be enough of a reward. The main reason they even get completed more than once is for the people who want the gold curse. Before you say "but why would you want to replay a story you've already seen" why do people buy books and reread them. tl;dr: fight for golden sands if you prefer gameplay > a talking head's agenda fight against golden sands if you prefer story > enjoyment in a medium sized chunk of the map

@@awalkthroughthewoods157 the devil's roar only has 1 outpost and look how little traffic that gets granted it does have volcanoes but they are rarely even a major obstacle since the rocks miss most of the time. But it also has 1.5x more expensive loot across the board and people still don't go there. Imagine the devil's roar except there is only regular loot and instead of having volcanoes that have a close to 5% hit rate there are 3 islands in a small area that are all unfun to fight near as well as plenty of miniscule land masses that are very easily missable in a naval fight which would more likely than not lead to a confirmed sink if the enemy crew knows what their attack button is. Also saying the shores of plenty is the only region with 2 outposts is objectively incorrectly seeing as the ancient isles has plunder outpost aswell as ancient spire and the wilds have dagger tooth outpost aswell as galleon's grave.

@@biggestenjoyerofthebiggest7796 My bad on the incorrect statement of outposts then (admitingly i did respond while i was half asleep) Though people rarely go to the devils roar its for both the volcanoes AND large amount geysers on every island that makes digging extremely annoying, they attempt spawn under you and follow when you are on the island, the rocks although do miss a bit, they target both your ship and yourself and kill you in one hit So it is a huge hazard at all times both on and off your boat (not to mention i believe the volcanos go off randomly only until a player ship is nearby then it becomes more prevalent, i had one island go off nearly 5 times whilst trying to dig there at one point but could easily be bad luck) I do still stand by some things though (mostly for story reasons) Do i wish this could result in an outpost being destroyed, no But we were only given these two options Everyone has their own reasons, some bad some good All we can do is see what happens, and see what the already hinted next adventure will be..so likely our choice wont fully matter even if they say it will (but again, i could always be wrong)

@@awalkthroughthewoods157 no worries about messing up with the outposts it confused me for a moment so thanks for clarifying you just forgot Conceptually the volcanoes and geysers seem like they should be major hazards but in practice they're not that big of a problem on any ship other than a brig unless you're unlucky. From my understanding (I haven't actually read anything at all about the volcanoes I'm just relaying what I know/assume from experience you could be right about them following your player in which case what I'm about to say about the small rocks you can ignore but for now I am under the assumption the rocks shoot out randomly in a circle around the volcano) the volcanoes shoot 3 different sizes of rocks each varying in damage and effects. Each eruption shoots mostly small rocks which are the least damaging that do about the same amount of damage as a cannonball so the only time sailing in the devil's roar is more risky than anywhere else is if you get unlucky enough to be hit by the largest rock type while unprepared/not expecting it or getting hit by the medium rock twice in a row but that's the risk you take to have your profits effectively multiplied by 1.5x. I do agree the geysers can be annoying but they can also be used to your advantage by instantly killing any skeleton that walks into one or using it to quickly look out into the horizon without needing to return to your ship and they are also fairly easily avoided by walking out of the way of them. All in all the devil's roar is a fair trade where you recieve 1.5x better loot for slight inconveniences which sometimes can be turned to your advantage both in and outside of combat making it a relatively enjoyable area to fight in (the rumbling on islands and scolding water make for a very nice change of pace which forces you to fight navally instead of boarding every other second I just wish there was a system put in place where if 2 ships are fighting nearby it can only shake and make scolding water since the volcano rocks in the middle of a fight kind of introduce luck into combat which mostly makes it less enjoyable but then again that's the same for fights in the storm and fights where a keg spawns in the water) however this wouldn't be the same for golden sands since the only unique obstacle that would be introduced is permanent fog and not being able to see anything doesn't make the game fun. (I'm assuming the fog would reach above a galleon's crow's nest effectively making it an island that only exists to block vision from the outside) If it was garunteed that something other than a second reaper sell point/leaving it as it is would happen if reaper's won then I would be all for changing gs, but since the most likely thing to happen both storywise and gameplaywise is that it will be left in ruins making it an island completely devoid of reason for existing I would rather it have a reason to be a landmass instead of just being dead space. p.s, I appreciate you not being aggressive it's nice to have a civil disagreement once in a while without it devolving into playground insults like how most things go on this website, have a good rest of your day/night and make sure you get some sleep. :)

Watching this after lost sands feels good knowing the outcome

I would rather keep Golden Sands intact vs destroy it; if we turn it over to the Reaper's it could become a new Reaper's Hideout. When I'm REAPING on the seas it's strategically more advantageous to have one place to sell your loot for max emissary value - high risk/high reward is how I like to sail the seas. If Golden Sands becomes another Reaper's Hideout-like island where you can sell loot to the Reapers it has the potential to destroy that mechanic that I love so much. There's something endearing in a battle for control of Reaper's Hideout, and I'd hate to see its flame snuffed out because players would just run to Golden Sands to sell if being chased. What are your thoughts?

My crew and I are pro change and will be working tirelessly to bring down Golden Sands once and for all! What kind of world would this be where we just let things go back to the status quo! Also it's just gonna be interesting to see where all the NPC's go. I've heard it suggested that they would open a new outpost somewhere close by. I personally don't see that happen, but a destroyed golden sands gives much more perspective and possibilities for the future. The good guys have to struggle (even if they end up winning in the end). It would be kind of cool if after it gets destroyed they rebuild some cool reaper structure... but it might just be ruins with no new content, and that'd be a shame

I was on hiatus when this was going on, now golden sands has a bunch of cannons on it.

Ironically I believe it was just after the battle with the kraken at Golden Sands outpost that the piarte lord was betrayed. Correct me if I'm wrong

My biggest struggle with siding with FH is how awful the Shores of Plenty feels without Golden Sands

Yes, but imagine the variety, it's like 2 squares away from sanctuary and there's SO much possibility for it's next use, will be much better.

Who said stitcher Jim was back stabbed? Flameheart says "What a contemptable little man, Soon he will posses the strength of an ashen lord." we just haven't seen any culmination of this yet tho, which I do admit is weird but could just be rare being rare. Unless I missed something.

You do know that Flameheart did not back stab Wanda or Sticher Jim, they back stabbed him.

I won't interfere with this. I'll accept the outcome no matter what. Although a second outpost in the shores of plenty is needed and I fear Golden Sands could become a second Reaper's Hideout which would make it easier for false reapers (pve reapers)

Ray let me level with you. I started playing Sea of Thieves THIS YEAR during Shrouded Sands! I never got to see Golden Sands in its prime. So, I will blow every Reaper rowboat I find, give every totem will be given to Merick to destroy so that I and other new pirates can see if not the same than better than it was before. Because let's face it we're all fighting what skin the new Golden Sands will have.

I personally disliked it a lot, definitely my least favourite outpost. Also considering you're new then you will have put less time and less commitment into the game than most people who disagree so it would make sense to disregard your thought process.

Very good explanation, and I had a flash of maybe this kinda stuff will lead to our own pirate hideout maybe?

Welcome to the boiling hot tub which burns you skin forcing you to where one of the golden reaper masks, but at least the flame burns.

Y'know, you almost had me convinced, until you started trying to big up the Reapers. I do believe you have some good points on the main Trading Companies, but the issue is, Flameheart's way is also wrong. The most key point of the Pirate's Life is freedom, above all else a Pirate has the ability to go with the rules or break them. That's why the Pirate Lord still accepts Reapers Bones into Athena's Fortune, because they are all about breaking the established norm of the Sea of Thieves. However, if the Reapers rule, then Freedom dies. They rule by survival of the fittest - the strong survive, and the weak perish. And when there are no weak links left to destroy, they will ultimately turn on themselves, waging an unending war until the day the sea takes all. There is no freedom in Flameheart's rule, only bending the knee to serve someone in the hopes they offer you protection. We must save Golden Sands, before the Sea of Thieves becomes wholly corrupt.

I hope golden sands returns, I’m tired of being forced to go to sanctuary when golden sands is closer I understand the lore reasons but for gameplay reasons I think it’s better to have it back Besides you still have to turn loot into the Reaper’s.
