Active Steady Shot is available in S&Q at 50/60 fps in the a7SIII. It's not available in 100/120 fps because the sensor already crops in 10% in that mode

Thanks for this. Been deciding between the two for awhile but I think the Mark 4 will fit more of my needs as I do more photos than video. Coming from an old 70D though so will be quite the change to 35mm but I’m excited. I’d love to get an R6 but the fact they Canon isn’t allowing 3rd party RF lenses is a massive deal breaker, I’m not going to go out and buy 2-3 G master lenses up front haha. The tamron and sigma 2nd hand market is pretty awesome.

It all comes down to what you need. The price difference is rather large if bought new and you can get a nice few lenses with that extra money. Wasn't aware about the 3rd party RF situations though! That's a big of a pain...

Hope you enjoyed the video! An extra thing to note that is shown in the video but not mentioned is the rolling shutter. You can see in this video that the A7iv has a rather noticeable rolling shutter! For anything fast paced it would most likely become an issue but for general filming, it would be fine i'm sure. Where as the A7Siii has a barely noticeable rolling shutter... Once again, it comes back to the point of 'What is suitable for you, or the project that you are working on'. Would love to hear your thoughts and let me know what you wish to see next! Thanks you lot!

Hey! I think I used a combinations of 16-35 and 24-70 f2.8’s. Vlogs i’d say a 16-35, film making and docs, a 24-70 is a great ‘get everything’ lens. Thanks for watching!

Thank you!! I do indeed, the link is in my description. But you may want to hold off a little, at the moment I don’t offer a contrast lut for log footage, it’s purely a look lut. But i’m going to be doing a larger package in the next few weeks

Thank you for the video! Now I’m concerned even more :D What would you choose between a7iv and lumix s5? I was almost ready to buy lumix for my vlogging/video needs after your a7s3 vs s5 comparison. Quality/price for lumix was just great, but now there’s a a7iv which is affordable and pretty perfect.

Cool vid! What about really low light videos like one's face lit only by a candle? Which one considering the prices? Ahh, don't really wanna spend $1k+ for the A7S iii

Thanks! If I'm honest, any scene which is candlelit in a proper filming environment will have some kind of lighting to brighten the whole scene whilst still making it candlelit looking. I've never done anything like that but I have shot a wedding that was candlelit for the speeches and I was shooting at around 15000ISO on a 2.8 lens. With that being said, I was using the a7siii for that and no doubt the a7siii would give you better results between these two cameras. How often are you personally going to be in incredibly low light situations? If it's only a little, I'd say go for the a7iv. It's not perfect, but it'll do the job for a fraction of the price

I got both and cant decide what to sell , I wanted to keep both but I usually only use one 99% of time.

Yeah, it’s a tough one. I always use my a7siii these days but if I owned the a7iv, i’d probably use that a fair bit. It’s a tough one!

Yes and no. In certain situations it’s barely noticeable. At the wedding it was okay because it wasn’t as fast paced but when i’d be vlogging with it and moving around a lot, it was fairly bad, in comparison to the a7siii, it’s terrible. But it’s a very different camera for a different user

Danny! Grabbing zve1 or a7c2 for travel and YT etc. what image do you like better for 4k24p?

Danny in low light in crop mode the Sony A74 is probably great in low light as much as the Sony FX30 and Sony A7siii. Also the Sony A74 is sharper in 1080HD when in crop mode as it a 2.5K downsampled in this mode and competes well with the Blackmagic Pocket cinema 6K pro and Canon R7 when it comes to filming cinematic work. Also I personally see the Sony A74 as a Super 35mm cinematic camera with full frame photography capabilities

In terms if which is better? I still can’t answer that! In fact yesterday we were at a wedding and discussing cameras once again over lunch. We even spoke about the new fx30! And we can’t decide. We would like to add a camera or two to the business from the Sony range and the a7iv seems like the most cost efficient one which does most things well. But the a7siii does the things where the a7iv lets me down, better. But 12mp, as much as I don’t need more it would be nice to have more obviously. I don’t think there’s a perfect camera out there and all of these comparison videos should be taken with a pinch of salt, what works for me may not work for you. We even spoke about the A1 but that has it’s problems too… and costs twice as much as an a7iv. Long story short… i’m still working on my answer 😂

It did overheat on me once… still unsure why but when i’ve filmed this video and a few others, plus at a wedding day, it was fine. I think any camera will overheat if you out it under enough pressure. 12mp isn’t loads but neither really is 33mp, the size of the image isn’t almost 3 times bugger as you probably may think. A 12mp sensor will create an image and be printable at the highest quality when it’s printed at 15 x 10 inches and a 33mp sensor is only around 21 x 14 inches. I have a video showing you how good the a7siii is at photography on my channel - kzread.info/dash/bejne/fal7rc6To9HHaKw.html 33mp is always going to be ‘better’ or more useful. But 12mp covers most things

I've filmed 30 weddings this past summer with the sony a7siii and sony a7iv as a b cam. Sony a7iv over heated in 4k 24 in 19 minutes on average and 16 minutes in 4k 60 during wedding ceremonies. The a7siii did not over heat not even one time in the summer heat. If you are primarily video first I would recommend the a7siii. The over heating with a7iv while continous shooting can compromise a moment that cannot be redone like a wedding kiss, vows exc.

@@enditend2 Peace... Have you used your a7iv for video yet? If so has it overheated on you? I have an a7s3 been thinking about selling it for the a7iv. I have been taking more photos than video. My only concern I have about the a7iv is when I do video im recording two hour open mic events which the a7s3 has no issue recording straight for the two hours. Based on what I'm hearing about the a7iv it is a dice roll. I heard people not having overheating issues and people having overheating issues. What has your experience been?

I ended up buying one of each. lol

Thanks for the comparison, but I think you forgot the issue of overheating in the a7iv so it's not the perfect camera and it's not reliable at all that's why I sold it and bought the a7s3, I tried it and it failed me that's why I hated it....

I didn’t forget about it. I’ve done a few videos on the A7iv, the first one I had a few problems with overheating which I mentioned in that video. I changed a setting and actually used the a7iv for a wedding a filmed the speeches and a ceremony with no overheating, i also left it running and filled a whole memory card with no overheating. So yes, there is a problem with overheating but after I changed a simple setting I didn’t experience it anymore. And no, i’m not saying that the one setting i changed will solve every overheating problem but I also can’t comment on something if it didn’t happen

@@themarksmanABP absolutely. For this video I the vlogging bits on a 16-35mm and what you see is a 16mm 👌🏻 in movie mode it’s almost identical to the a7siii

That was awful english 😂 but yeah, movie mode, a 24mm is a true 24mm unless you are in active stabilisation mode which gives you a 1.1x crop which is barely noticeable. So your 24mm would become a 26mm
