I have to agree, that always climbing up to higher cc bikes kind of makes you lose sight of the fun that smaller cc bikes can offer. I normally ride super bikes, but a few years ago, I bought a small cc bike (250) and found myself riding that more than the super bikes. Loved cranking the throttle on that one and rode it like I stole it. Was not nearly as fast as my other bikes, but made it easier to ride and have fun...also less tickets.

The supermoto mode also lets you do stoppies without disabling abs. So it stops you from locking it up completely and falling that way, which is pretty cool in my opinion

I think it's an awesome thing! Bear in mind that 8 years ago, I was doing 100kms+ per day on my littled CFR250L! Then the NC700, and now my MT07! I think I have totally fallen in love with my 07 now and have now struggled twice to trade it for the MT10, but just can't let it go! To me, it's not about how fast you can get to 300kph or if you can even get to 200kph, but it's all about the fun you can have between 0 and 120kph! I am really looking forward to your next bike.... an hope we can grab some breakfast and coffee soon!

I agree with the “tolerance break” mindset you mentioned. My bikes progressed real fast upwards from 500 to 600 to 796 to 1050 to 1400. But then I bought a little Baby Z125. It was goofy, it was quirky, it was a hoot, and it was slow as a snail. But it made me appreciate exactly how fast, how buttery smooth, how comfortable, and how well handling my big 1400cc space shuttle actually is. I didn’t unfortunately get to do the big popular group rides that I planned before needing to sell it. But it honestly was just too impractical for where I lived. Now I’m trying to decide if my next secondary bike is of the 390/401 variety… or the 675 variety… 🤔

I took it to the track, I took it to work, I rode it in the rain and on mountain passes and it never failed me. 3 years after using it I sold it. Had the same problem. Sold my Duke390 and boy, I'm still sad about that move. My Twin brother Andre still has his 390. I just loved the damn thing so soooo much!! I got the bigger brother, the Duke II 640 LC4, and yes, it is MUCH more powerful, but the 390 is just so agile in every single thing you through at it. Sprocketting is a big thing with them, I got mine just right and it ran beautifully on highways such as the N14 and the N1. Damn.....I miss her! O ja, I'm also from SA. I saw you ride at Tera in one of your vids. I take my boy there frequently too, he is 14yo and rides 450f, been riding all his life from 3yo.

those are actually right side up forks. back in the day all forks were like that, no matter what size the bike was. then racers realized that mounting them up side down gives the bike more rigidity in corners. my old cbr f4i had right side up forks. i switched them out for gsxr forks that were up side down. made a pretty big difference on track.

That should've been a 400-600cc parallel twin bike. Anything above ~330cc is best a twin, and above 660cc a triple (and above 1 liter, a 4 cyl). What this and most other bikes miss, is frame buffers (protection, skid plates, pegs....), to protect the plastics and paint from damage when falling over.

I use a Duke 390 to commute on, love it - the only bike I'd chop it for is a 490 Duke. I'll keep my F800GT for longer trips but it's not a tool for carving busy London traffic like the Duke. Loved your content on the little Duke.

The Mt-07 actually has a regular fork because it's better at handling landings from wheelies and having big forks while still being cheap to manufacture, the Mt-03 and R3 (recent models) have upside down forks, plus it's a cheaper bike than the duke 390 and it has a playful parallel twin capable of 190 km/h, in my opinion it's a little better and more reliable than the KTM, you should give it a shot too.
