Yusuke vs Toguro is one of my favorite fights from yu yu hakusho and anime in general. Also, love the philosophical speeches during this fight as well.

Don't know if this is a hottake, but Yu Yu is my favourite anime. From the dub, to the culmination of the Dark Tournament, to the Black Chapter arc, to even the begining. A cast that is actually developed, instead of having 50 characters with no defining traits. Fights that are interesting, characters that grow stronger horizontally and not vertically. Even in this fight, doesn't Yusuke still have 5 spirit guns a day. Even after going through so much, he's still capped out. 7:43, 10:43 you're right as well, Togashi at his peak, drawing the panels anatomically. But yeah like you mentioned a lil overdue, but happy that's it here. Can't wait for the full Dark Tourney vid 🦾🦾

I also love the little detail like Yusuke's demon energy being briefly shown when yusuke changed up

Toguro had his body literally modified that way when he won the tournament with Genkai its literally one of his tropes... I am somewhat lost on how you don't know that when they explain it. For reference "Kinniku Sōsa, literally translated as Muscle Manipulation): Toguro's signature ability lies in his ability to regulate how much of his maximum power he releases, ranging from 0% to 100%."

Toguro wasn't really a villain to me and more of someone that just lost their way. He saw himself in Yusuke and wanted him to do and be better. He threw that fight to Yusuke, because if he was fighting with real intent, he would of ended the series in this one

Nice headcanon, toguro wanted to see if his methods could be proven wrong and the only way to see if that was the case was to find out if Yusuke could become stronger then him.

As a kid Yuske vs. Toguro was everything. As an adult Yuske vs. Sensui is everything!

Bro the whole team toguro was terror, I especially remember the scene where toguro was carrying whole fighting ring on his back before the fight and thought yusuke gonna die

the dark tournament arc is one of the best tournament arcs in anime

This is the only fighting tournament anime I have ever been able to consistently watch in it's entirety on an annual basis.

I feel like Toguro just flexed percentages as a scare tactic. The increases in his power after this were astronomical compared to anything going on between 0-80. In fact, I think he was doing this as a warning to Yusuke to be like, “If YOU ain’t goin at least 80 from the start there won’t be a fight”

You reminded me of this series and now I’m watching it for the first time. And it is stunning. Can’t believe it has taken me this long to watch it.

Toguro's biggest mistake was dropping all his homies for clout. Yusuke a straight G for proving Toguro wrong.

Togashi getting those horrible back issues and chronic pain disorder is the worst thing to happen to Shonen manga.... Like the dude is a genius and has talent that no hard work can match. What made me like it even more is that in my country Toguro has the same VA as Sylvester Stalone.

the craziest shit about toguro is he was having second thoughts about his immortal demon wish so he just tortured people and made them hate him until theyd be strong enough to kill him just to see if it was even possible for him to die. and THEN when he does die koenma is trying to work out a deal to keep him out of hell and he just volunteers to go to purgatory for 10000 years. imagine being such a fuckin G you can tell god himself how to do his job.

Crazy thing is every time i started yu yu hakusho, i never went past this fight 😂 even though my friends all tell the show was just really getting started and he wasnt even that strong compared to the rest of the show. The toguro is so epic it just felt like the finale and I have never forgotten it
