The backpack seems like kind of a let down, enough room for radio gear, not really enough room for radio+hiking gear.

Reminds me when I was a kid I would bring a ferro rod, 550 cord a flashlight with 50 batteries, a whole metal mess kit and camp stove a foil blanket. just to go 10 ft into the woodline behind my house. Now after years in the military I usually it’s a Nalgene bottle of water pack of smokes, radio w/ efhw and lifepo4 battery, and maybe the drone/go pro to go climb mountains for Sota

For those of us "of a certain age", this pack is far too large. My own experience is that I will fill every nook and cranny of a pack, ultimately making it just something to put in my truck (not on my 70 year old back). That's why I purchased an 857 Sierra Pack from Portable Zero LLC. A nice snug fit for my FT-818 (in an Armoloq frame), two 1.5 Ah Bioenno batteries, an EFHW 40m antenna, 25 ft of coax, and a Microsoft Surface computer for logging. Essentially, it's too small for me to overload.

I use Apache 4800 cases. No way am I gonna load all this stuff on a rucksack and strap it on my carcass (hearing crunching noises and whimpers o' pain). I did this a decade ago when I was insane and played around wih green military manpacks; Green Radio Roundup, April 2006 QST. Power to ya' bro if you can hoist this stuff!! :) Also, google the Raven 2500 pack.

If they add tent loops to the bottom, I will definitely buy that. Great review!

Good ideas & stuff. I just saw a video on Brightline Bags that feature a modular zip together system. A camera bag module could be a good set up for QRP rigs with backpack straps.

Looks good. I would want to take more water with me. Looks like I could put some below the radios on the bottom and put some sort of straw upwards.

Looks like a nice pack. 👍 I was hoping you were going to fit the cat in there. THAT would be entertaining. Maybe not for you or the cat, but certainly for your subscribers. I've been using Mosiso padded laptop sleeves to transport the Ft-891 and tuner in my go pack. They also make good pistol cases.

I definitely will buy the IC 705 modular bag for X6100. I bought the 5.11 AMP 72 bag because it was 50% percent off. I have buyers remorse. It's got way to much shit going. I love the big empty middle compartment bags like this that open completely like a suitcase. I reverted to an old Go Ruck 15l bag I have. I've always love that bag. I might pick this one up eventually. Granted right now I'd rather put the money this would take to another radio or antenna.

Enjoy your VIDEO Content Mike , This Backpack is Pretty well thought out . 3 things needed to make me a Customer - 1. a chest center belt ,you know to join the shoulder Straps together and a clip . 2. a full Padded Hip Belt , very important to distribute weight . 3. Antenna Hole at the top for Pedestrian Radio Use . Just hoping one of those sto. Bags fits my TS480HX LOL. All the Best , 73, W5heh
